i went to see cable street yesterday and i loved it! i had to draw something for it!! i really enjoyed how it explores multiple perspectives on facism, namely how extremists exploit working class people, violence in response to oppression and the role of art in politics. this being said, you‘ll understand my frustration at the show (i’m 99% sure) using AI generated imagery for its promotional material. it saddens me that the message of proletariat liberation does not seem to extend to that of artists. we’re workers too!

communism directly contradicts AI - stealing from artists to produce pastiches of our hard work is just about the most capitalist thing i can think of and i implore the team behind cable street to reconsider their choices and hire a real artist next time!

that aside, i was so impressed by this cast, their skill and ability to switch roles and accents quickly! if i had two nickels for everytime i’ve seen isaac gryn play a jewish boxer, id only have two nickels but it’s strange it happed twice! haha so great to see him again after the book thief! i would lovvee to see him play a really gritty orpheus! i also saw annie in the great comet so it was nice to see her in a larger role! we were also treated to a bunch of covers who were absolutely incredible!! notably aoife mcnamara covering mairead who was amazing!

dylmonda orphydice ! <3 it’s been such a privilege to watched these two shine and grow in these roles. we’ve been so lucky to have them in hadestown for a year and a half and a year (respectively hehe). i know i, and the rest of the hadestown west end fan base will miss them immensely. the show just won’t be the same without their chemistry, desmonda’s heartbreaking acting, insane vocals and dylan’s inherent orpheus-ness and charm. thank you for everything you’ve given to this show. you’ve brought me so much joy and comfort during your runs. i can’t wait to see what you’ll do next and sing it once last time with this cast in march 💔 prints of this will be available asap! i hope u like it, i worked on this for 30 hours and STrugglED but i can’t actually believe i got it finished before cast change whattt (me: 1 ADHD: 0 lol)i had to keep persevering to capture my love of them in these roles! we must keep trying even when things are tough! is that not the whole point of hadestown? <3
