Completely gutted to hear about the passing of @wheelzphotography_andre. I first remember meeting Andre at a small @maydaymusic meet and greet. He was a young man with a kind disposition but visibly suffering and confined to a wheelchair. He came in along with his Mother who also seemed like a wonderful person fighting against a lot to make life better for her ailing son. Andre told us how much the music helped soothe him and ease his pain. Then he said “next time I come to one of your shows, I’m gonna be standing up for it”. And you know what? HE DID THAT. I cannot begin to the fathom the amount of pain this young man was going through but he stood up for pictures and then stood through our entire set. Andre, I’m so sorry that this world dealt you such a rough hand. It seems so incredibly unfair and senseless. Thinking about it really fills me with a profound sorrow. But in true hero fashion, you seemed to make the best of it all though. You were half my age but your strength will stay with me as a reminder to always keep positive and determined from here on out. My condolences to the entire Barkley family and everyone who knew Andre. It was a pleasure to have him in our presence. I now keep thinking, at least you’re not in pain any longer. I signed to Strange Music Inc. as a member of ¡MAYDAY! in 2011. Two years later, I signed a solo contract. I released 3 full length solo albums and a few loosie singles in the years to follow when I wasn’t completely engulfed in ¡MAYDAY! land. I learned an incredible amount from my years as a Strange Music artist and I’m forever grateful for the lifelong friendships I’ve made and still maintai. Today it’s time for me to take the fully independent path. I want to put my own $$$ into the productions and own the music outright. One day I’ll hand these next run of projects to my kids.
