and they get creative, start to almost find a black humour in it. it’s not gonna stick, and they know it, so they revel in being an inconvenience, break their own body as much as they can, methodically, erratically, never the same way twice. when lucifer appears and tells them it took him a whole ten seconds to fix what they did last time, sam laughs and says they’re aiming for fifteen. 

in 8.05 sam tells amelia, “a motel is not actually part of the town that it’s in. it’s not part of anywhere.” love when supernatural casually drops these lines with devastating, earth-shattering implications for sam and dean’s lives especially their childhood and then just. moves on without acknowledging or exploring them in any way

the beginning of season 8 is SO funny because it’s all dean grieving cas and sneaking away to save his on-again-off-again vampire side piece and trying to cope with being back in the world after a year in literal actual biblical purgatory and questioning what it means to be human and what it means to change and why it isn’t all as black and white as it used to be and sometimes sam hears a dog bark and gets a flashback to the veterinarian who guilt tripped him into adopting the dog he hit with his car.

I love episodes where they're doing a flashback to sam and dean as kids and they clearly can not get jeffrey dean morgan for the episode so they just have john hidden in the car or some reason why he's not around...method acting him being an absentee father wow
