Woso - I will write for any player you suggest, if I don't know much about them I will try to do some research so that I can make it as realistic as possible for you, these may take slightly longer than if I get a request for a player I know well or if it has more info. about what they want.
other fandoms - I can write for stranger things. And I also have like quite a big obsession with Tennis so would love to write for that too if people are interested in that.
I will write:
Fluff
Angst
player x reader
player x player (not as much as player x reader though)
platonic ones such as siblings or parental relationships.
teen/child!readers with like whole teams (I'm not sure how else to explain it but like first call ups and baby of the team, stuff like that)
I will NOT write smut, I just don't feel comfortable with it.

Just wondering if you'd still write that lia x snowboarder reader req that i sent earlier this year for the olympics. No worries if not, but i'd still love to read it if you feel like it <3
Hello, I am so sorry this seems to have been deleted from my drafts for some reason but I can put it back on my list and get it out for you asap, sorry for the wait :)
Summary: Y/n and Cathinka have never got on, despite playing on the same team at both club level and for the national team, Y/n never really knew why they didn't get on assuming that Cathinka did not like her and Cathinka thinking the same about Y/n, but what happens when their team mates and best friends, Julie Blakstad and Signe Gaupset have had enough and force Y/n and Cathinka to sort themselves out?
Word count: 3.5k
Warnings: A bit of angst and awkward flirting because apparently I am just as awkward when writing as I am in real life.
A/n: Thank you so so much for this request @wosolover20100 I love Tinka so much so have really enjoyed writing this. Writing in bold is Norwegian. Not proofread as always.
“Y/n/n you two have been playing on the same team all season, the national team for even longer, why do you both still act like this around each other?" Y/n's best friend, Julie, asks as they're walking in from training on the first day of camp.
"I've told you this before, she just doesn't like me, I've never known why but it's always been like that, I mean we work fine on the pitch, she was the top scorer this season in the league and I was the top assister, so it works on the pitch. I don't have a problem with her but yeah she's just never seemed to like me." Y/n replies, trying not to seem too bothered about it, no one knowing how she actually feels about Cathinka.
"I swear, you're both children, just talk to her, sort it out like adults" Julie says as they both make it to the changing room, walking over to their own lockers, which happened to be next to each other anyway.
When she sits down, Y/n notices that Cathinka was looking at her, but when she noticed that Y/n was looking back Cathinka made herself busy and avoided making eye contact with Y/n. Julie clearly notices the interaction too, because she nudges Y/n's leg as she bends down to untie her boots.
After everyone has gotten out of their boots and had a moment, the team starts making their way to the gym, having just a short session before lunch, and then they had the afternoon free before their first match of camp tomorrow. As they are all walking to the gym, Y/n and Julie being just behind Cathinka and a few of the other girls being just in front of them, just before they get into the gym, Signe stops walking with the group in front and drops back to walk next to Y/n and Julie.
"Hei Siggy," Julie says as Signe falls into step with them both.
"Hei, Y/n/n what are you doing this afternoon after lunch?" Signe asks, wrapping her arm around her team mate.
"Not much I don't think, was probably just going to ask Julie if she wanted to go get coffee," Y/n replies.
"Ahh perfect you're free then." Signe says, in a way that shows to Y/n that it is not really a question, more of a statement.
"Why what do you have in mind Siggy?" Y/n asks as they walk into the gym.
"You'll find out later," Signe simply says, smirking at Julie as she walks away to start her own gym routine.
"Do you know something? What's she planning?" Y/n asks, clearly suspicious of how her two best friends are acting.
"She's not planning anything, maybe she just wants to spend some time with you, you are friends" Julie responds, trying to dismiss any suspicions that Y/n has.
Y/n doesn't really think anything else of the slightly strange encounter with her team mate, instead focusing on completing her gym routine, not wanting to push it too hard today so that she is as ready for the game tomorrow as she can be.
After the team have all finished their workouts, everyone starts to make their way back to the changing room to get showered before they go to lunch. Due to the crossover in friend groups, it is quite common for Y/n and Cathinka to be in similar spaces, like sitting at the same table in the canteen, and today is no different. They aren't sat particularly near each other but Y/n keeps noticing that Cathinka keeps looking in her direction, Y/n doesn’t really think anything about it, like earlier in the changing rooms, assuming it was just a coincidence that every time she happened to look up, Cathinka was looking in her direction, putting it down to the fact that there was multiple conversations going on at once from various points around the table and that Cathinka was just trying to keep up with them.
“Who’s up for a walk to the beach on our free afternoon, we are in Barcelona after all,” Signe suggests as everyone is starting to finish their lunch.
There are various agreements from the girls around the table, as well as a couple of the older girls on the team who are sat on the table next to them. They all agree that they’ll meet in the hotel lobby in half an hour, giving them time to go back up to their rooms and get changed into more appropriate clothes. As everyone is walking out of the dining room, Julie and Signe hang back and whisper something to each other, clearly not wanting anyone else to see.
When Y/n and Julie get back up to their shared room, Y/n sits down on her bed, pulling her phone out, assuming that Julie would go into the bathroom first like she normally does, when she does, after closing the door a minute or so later Y/n hears her shout through the door.
“Y/n can you go back down to the changing room for me please? I left my phone in there, I’ll be ready when you get back up so you can get ready,” Julie asks.
“Yeah sure, do you know where in there it is?” Y/n replies.
"It should be by my locker, thank you Y/n/n, you're amazing." Y/n hears Julie say as she is leaving the room.
Y/n gets down to the changing rooms they are quiet, as she expecting with everyone being up in their rooms getting ready, but while Y/n is looking for Julie's phone, which she can't find and she is sure that she saw Julie on her phone at lunch, but as she keeps looking Y/n hears the door open behind her, she looks up and sees that Cathinka has just walked into the room.
"I'll come back in a bit," the taller athlete says, going to turn around.
"Come on Cathinka, I'm sure you can manage to be in the same room as me for like 30 seconds, I'm just looking for Julie's phone then I'll be gone," Y/n replies but Cathinka keeps walking back towards the door, but when she tries to push it, it won't move, as if it has been locked.
"We're not letting you out until you both sort on whatever this is between you, you both think the other one hates you but neither of you actually don't like each other, so be grown ups and talk," Signe shouts from the other side of the door, clearly being the one to orchastrate this.
“Yeah so grow up and talk to each other likes adults or there’s no beach for you two,” Julie adds as they sound like they’re starting to walk away, which causes Cathinka to try the door again but it is still locked.
“Maybe they’re right,” Y/n tries.
“Right about what?” Cathinka asks, sitting down on one of the benches.
“That we just need to talk, I mean do either of us actually know what the problem the other one has actually is, I mean we clearly work well together, why can’t we do that off the pitch too,” Y/n says, avoiding eye contact, not wanting to give how she actually feels away for Cathinka.
“Well you’re the one who hates me, you always have,” Cathinka admits.
“You think I hate you? Is that really what you think?” Y/n asks, genuinely surprised that that’s what the taller athlete thinks.
“Well you do don’t you?”
“No! I have never hated you, I always thought you hated me!” Y/n replies, both of their voices raising slightly, not in an angry way but more because of shock. “It’s the opposite, I could never hate you,” Y/n continues, her voice dropping to almost a whisper.
“What do you mean it’s the opposite?” Cathinka asks, her own voice dropping, almost like what they’re saying is a secret no one can know.
“Nothing, now can we try and agree to at least be somewhat friends, we do spend nearly all our time together,” Y/n replies, not wanting to go into detail about what she meant by her previous comment.
“We do spend a lot of time together and despite not talking directly to each other that often, I know when you’re avoiding something, like right now, so come on what did you mean by you ‘the opposite of hate me’?” Cathinka asks, clearly not willing to drop the subject, but also looking to the door to make sure that Signe and Julie haven't come back to be nosy. "I'm not going to tell anyone or make fun of you for it, if that's what you are worried about, but I can tell that there is something you aren't telling me," Cathinka continues.
"I can't say it, it's weird," Y/n admits, feeling quite embarrassed.
"What if I feel it too? Is it still weird then?" Cathinka asks, moving closer to Y/n.
"What are you on about? I know you wouldn't feel the same way," Y/n says.
Cathinka doesn't say anything else, she just closes the rest of the distance between her and Y/n, moving her hand to brush a piece of stray hair behind Y/n's ear, trying to prove her point to Y/n.
"Still think I wouldn't feel the same?" Cathinka asks, her usual smirk playing on her face, but now it doesn't seem to bother Y/n anymore like it normally would.
"I can't believe this," Y/n replies, her voice still barely above a whisper.
"Well believe it, look I don't usually get all soppy and that, but I will admit that I have liked you for quite a while Y/n."
"It feels weird you not calling me Y/l/n, nice weird," Y/n chuckles, "and if you liked me why have you never said anything?" she asks.
"The same reason you haven't said anything, I thought that you hated me" Cathinka answers calmly as if it is the most casual thing ever.
"We've both been a bit stupid haven't we?" Y/n laughs, trying to make light of the whole situation.
"We really have," Cathinka starts, but is interrupted by shouting from the other side of the door.
"Have you two spoken yet? As much as I want you to, I do want to go to the beach at some point today," Signe shouts through the door.
"Right how are we playing this, are we saying we've spoken and telling the full truth, assuming we are going to do something about the feelings?" Cathinka asks, making sure her voice is low enough that Signe can't hear her.
"I say we tell them we've spoken and realised that neither of us actually hates the other one, say we've agreed to try and be more friendly, but we could keep the full truth to ourselves for now, see where it goes, and I'm sure we can have some fun with no one knowing," Y/n suggests.
"I like the way you think," Cathinka starts, before talking louder, for Signe, "yeah, we've talked, we're good, now let us out Siggy, we want to go to the beach too," she continues as they hear the sound of the door unlocking and then see Signe come into the room.
"So you have finally realised that neither of you actually hate each other, and that you can actually be friends?" Signe asks.
"Yeah that's about it," Y/n replies.
"Finally, now come on, half the girls have already left for the beach, me and Julie waited for you both to finish," Signe says as they start to walk towards the lobby.
"You guys head down, Julie didn't think to give me the time to get changed before she sent me down to get her 'phone' from the the changing room" Y/n says as they get to where Julie was sat on her phone, looking up when she heard her team mates walking over.
"I need to get changed too, so yeah you two go down and we'll catch you up when we've changed," Cathinka agrees.
Julie and Signe leave and then Y/n and Cathinka make their way towards the elevator, both acting normal until they get into the empty elevator and then Cathinka closes the distance between them again, her hands coming to Y/n's waist this time.
"You move fast don't you?" Y/n comments.
"Sorry, too much? I can stop if you feel uncomfortable," Cathinka replies, worrying that she has pushed it too far already.
"No, no, definitely not uncomfortable, don't you even think about stopping, but if we want to keep this as our own for now, you are going to have to keep your hands to yourself when we are around the girls," Y/n replies, starting serious to help calm Cathinka's nerves, but then turning more playful towards the end, putting her own hands over Cathinkas to gently stop the taller athlete from moving away.
"We could always just not follow them to the beach, spend some time alone?" Cathinka suggests.
"That could be quite suspicious, as nice as it sounds, we will find time to be alone, now go and get changed, I'll meet you back downstairs in five minutes, or I'm leaving without you," Y/n says playfully as she moves herself away from Cathinka as the elevator doors open, smirking as she leaves.
Y/n walks into the room she is sharing with Julie and she gets changed into something which is more appropriate for the beach, putting a bikini on under a pair of shorts and a t-shirt just incase people wanted to get into the sea, and Y/n is secretly hoping to be able to wind Cathinka up a little bit too if the opportunity is there. After finishing getting ready, Y/n makes her way back downstairs to the hotel lobby, where Cathinka is already waiting for her so they can head down to the beach, as they are walking out of the hotel, Cathinka goes to take Y/n's hand.
"You know I still think we should have just ditched them and stayed at the hotel, would have been much more interesting," Cathinka smirks.
"Oh I can already tell you are going to be hard work aren't you?" Y/n asks playfully.
"Just keeping you on your toes," Cathinka smirks, "but seriously if I am going to fast or coming on too strong just tell me okay? but well we have kind of wasted a lot of time so may as well make the most of it now," she continues, more seriously now.
"Well aren't you sweet, so you're basically saying that you've been waiting?" Y/n replies, deciding to tease Cathinka.
"Well, uhm, well not in a weird way," Cathinka stutters, blushing slightly, clearly embarrassed by what Y/n said.
“Of course not in a weird way, it’s actually quite cute, now come on stop delaying, I want to go an sunbathe," Y/n replies as the beach comes into view in front of them, Y/n gently dropping Cathinka's hand as they spot the team, some laying on towels enjoying the sun and a few others playing one touch with a ball they must have brought from the hotel.
"Fine but if you even think about trying to tease me like I know you're planning, no promises that this will stay a secret for very long," Cathinka whispers next to Y/n's ear before walking over to the rest of the team, acting completely normal and going straight over to the girls who are playing football, getting involved and being competitive straight away.
Y/n goes over to where the girls are sunbathing, placing her towel down next to Caroline Graham Hansen, sitting down and joining in on the conversation that some of the girls were having.
"What took you so long Y/n/n?" Caroline asks as Y/n lays down next to her.
"I just had to sort some things out before I came down, all good now," Y/n responds.
The team spend the rest of the afternoon just relaxing, enjoying the downtime that is incredibly rare when at camp. After a while, Y/n is properly starting to relax, and close to falling asleep, when someone pours a load of freezing cold sea water all over her and therefore all over her towel.
"Cathinka Tandberg!" Y//n practically screams when she looks up and sees a smirking Tinka looking down at her, Tinka running away as soon as Y/n starts to move, "come back here, you're going to pay for that," she continues as she gets up and chases Tinka across the beach, to the amusement of the rest of the team.
Tinka is fast, but Y/n has always been faster and so it does not take her long to catch up to her, but one thing that Tinka undeniably had over Y/n was strength, and so despite her best efforts, it was still Y/n who was the one who ended up being thrown into the sea, it obviously being clear that was Y/n's plan.
Back up on the beach where all the girls were all laughing at what had just happened, a few of them filming it on their phones, but while Y/n and Tinka are still in the water, Caroline leans over to Signe and Julie.
"When did they stop being stupid and finally become friends?"
"Well we kind of locked them in the changing room and wouldn't let them out until they spoke, that's why they came down after the rest of us," Signe says, very proud of her idea.
"I like the initiative, and it seems to have worked, their chemistry on the pitch seems to," she pauses, "have translated perfectly to off it, I think you two are going to have a whole new problem concerning those two on your hands," Caroline laughs, still looking towards Y/n and Cathinka who are now splashing each other in the sea.
After a little while longer, Y/n and Cathinka start to make their way back to the group, dripping from the sea, Y/n nearly doubled over laughing at something Cathinka said.
"I'm stealing your towel Tinka, seeing as mine is soaking still," Y/n says, picking up Cathinka's towel before the striker can protest, Y/n wrapping it round herself to start drying off.
"Hey that's not fair!" Cathinka argues.
"It so is fair, it's your fault my towel is soaking wet in the first place, and that I am soaking too, so I get your towel," Y/n reasons, although she is smirking broadly as she does so, clearly enjoying winding Cathinka up.
"It's fine Tinka, I have a spare one you can use, but she has a point, you did pour water all over hers," Signe comments, throwing a towel at Cathinka.
"Right as nice as this is, we need to get back to the hotel for dinner, before having an early night, I'm looking at you Tinka, before our big game tomorrow," Ada announces, earning groans from a lot of the girls who clearly don't want to have to go back to reality.
The walk back to the hotel is short and when they all get back pretty much everyone goes back up to their rooms to have showers and that before they have to go for dinner. Signe and Julie both don't go up to their rooms though, claiming that they are just going to chill in the games room and have showers after dinner. Normally it wouldn't really make a difference, but when they left the elevator at their floor, Cathinka turned left with Y/n instead of turning right to go to her and Signe's room.
“Did you see where I put my key?” Y/n asks, fumbling about in her bag for the key card to her room.
"You put it in your shorts pocket remember?" Cathinka laughs at Y/n's panick.
Y/n thens gets the key card out of her pocket and unlocks the door, pulling Cathinka in to the hotel room after her. Once inside and the door is closed, the tension visibly leaves Y/n's shoulders, even more so when Cathinka walks over to her and puts her arms around Y/n's shoulders.
"You need to relax more, you're going to get injuries if you're always this tense," Cathinka says, coming to stand behind Y/n and starts to gently massage her shoulders.
"I'm not tense," Y/n defends.
"Y/n/n I can literally feel the knots in your back and shoulders, relax, no one is going to find out until we want them to, even if that means I have to behave and pretend not to like you as much as I actually do," Cathinka offers, trying to calm Y/n, who was clearly panicking slightly, down.
"Okay, if you think you can manage keeping your hands to yourself, I know you were struggling on the beach," Y/n smirks.
"Oh struggling was I? Someone is very confident in themselves all of a sudden," Cathinka replies.
"You know you were struggling, and yeah I am confident, I guess you're rubbing off on me,"
"Oh shush and get ready before we're late for dinner and they start coming to look for us."

The stadium was packed. Flags waved from every section, drums echoed through the stands, and the atmosphere felt electric.
But for Alexia Putellas, there was only one thing that mattered.
Y/N. Her daughter. The captain of Spain's U16 team. And currently playing in a World Cup final.
Alexia sat surrounded by several Barça teammates, all of them just as invested in the match as she was.
Aitana was gripping the edge of her seat.
Patri looked stressed.
Clàudia had been yelling advice at the pitch despite the fact nobody could hear her.
And Alexia? Alexia looked like she might pass out.
"You're more nervous than she is," Aitana observed.
"I'm her mother."
"Exactly."
The final whistle blew. Spain had won.
For a second the stadium seemed to freeze. Then chaos erupted.
Spanish players sprinted across the pitch screaming. Staff members rushed onto the field.
The crowd exploded into celebration.
And right in the middle of it all stood Y/N. Laughing. Crying. Completely overwhelmed.
Alexia felt her eyes sting immediately.
"Oh no," Clàudia said. "She's crying."
"I'm not crying." She absolutely was.
The medal ceremony started a few minutes later. One by one, the players climbed the stage. Receiving medals. Hugging teammates. Smiling for cameras.
Then the announcer's voice echoed around the stadium. "And your captain..."
The crowd roared. Y/N stepped forward. The trophy was placed into her hands. For a second she just stared at it.
Then she lifted it. The stadium exploded. Confetti cannons fired. Teammates jumped onto her immediately. Everyone screaming. Everyone celebrating.
Alexia stood with tears running down her cheeks. She didn't even try to hide them anymore.
Because her little girl—the little girl who used to run around Camp Nou in oversized shirts—was standing on a world stage lifting a World Cup trophy.
"That's my little girl," Alexia whispered.
Patri smiled beside her. "Yeah."
A few moments later another announcement came. The crowd quieted slightly.
"And the Player of the Tournament..."
Alexia blinked. No way.
"The award goes to Y/N!"
The stadium somehow got even louder. Y/N's eyes widened in complete shock.
"No way!" Clàudia yelled.
Alexia laughed through her tears. Y/N accepted the award with the biggest smile Alexia had ever seen. Proud. Happy. Still somehow looking like the little kid Alexia remembered.
When the ceremony finally ended, Y/N looked up toward the stands. Searching. Finding. Her eyes landed on Alexia immediately.
And despite the thousands of people around them, the distance between them, and all the noise—Y/N pointed straight at her.
Then tapped the Spain badge on her chest. Before placing a hand over her heart.
Alexia understood instantly. Everything. And as she wiped away another tear, she couldn't stop smiling.
Because trophies were amazing. Records were amazing. Awards were amazing.
But nothing compared to watching her daughter become the person she was meant to be.
Yes! definitely, I love Tinka so much. Do you have anything in particular that you want to see or just her in general? Let me know!
Also other than this one now, I have no requests in my drafts so if there is anything that anyone would like to see then please let me know, I am trying to be more consistent but no promises, A-levels are a lot!
Summary: After years of only your families knowing about your relationship, Steph forgets to take her ring off at camp, leading to the secret being out to the whole team. This is based on this request
Word count: 1.2k (sorry it's a bit of a shorter one)
Warnings: none
You and Steph have been together for years, but no one ever really knew, only your families. And after being together for four years, you decided to propose to her, which you still believe that to this day was the best decision that you had ever made. Neither of you really meant to hide it, you just never knew how to tell any team mates and so it just kind of turned into your little secret, and five years later and still no one knows. You have both got into a habit of when you're at training or just with any of your team mates in general that you both put your wedding rings onto matching necklaces, so that you both still have them always with you.
It helped that all of your team mates and friends knew that you and Steph have always been best friends and so no one questioned the fact that the pair of you turn up to and leave training together or that you live together. You and Steph also always shared a room on camp, like now, giving you some alone time amongst the mental schedule that national camp demands of them, which is how you got to where you both are now.
"Babe we need to go down, Sam will kill us if we're late for breakfast again," you shout through the bathroom door, where Steph was still getting ready.
"I'm coming, calm down." Steph replies, finally opening the door and moving past you to slip her sliders on. "Come on then, let's go down"
In the haste to get downstairs, neither of you notice that Steph still has her ring very much on her finger. When you get downstairs you both go and get some breakfast before sitting down on a table with Caitlin, Kyra and Sam, which looking back was probably the next mistake you both made. They don't notice the ring straight away, well if any of them do then they don't say anything to begin with, it's after you've all finished eating and are just finishing coffee's when they notice, Caitlin reaches to grab her cup at the same time Steph is, causing them to look in the same direction and Caitlin just gasps.
"Oh my God, Steph!" Caitlin practically shouts. "Is that what I think it is on your finger?"
"Uh well, uhm" Steph fumbles, looking right to you for help.
"Steph you're married? Who to? Why have you never told us? Actually more importantly why were none of us invited?" Caitlin asks frantically before Steph can even try and get a response out. "Y/n did you know?" She continues, turning the full attention towards you.
"You could say that, I suppose I knew," you replied, subtly placing your arm around the back of Steph's chair, sensing your wife's discomfort.
"Woah Steph, I'm a bit offended, I know you and Y/n/n are best friends but how could you not tell any of us?"
At that comment, Steph winces slightly again, clearly feeling bad that this is how the secret is going to come out, seeing this, Y/n reaches up to the back of her neck to unclasp the necklace which now felt so heavy beneath her shirt, once she has, she slips the ring off and puts it back on her finger, not trying to draw too much attention to it until you have got it onto your finger and you take your wife's hand in your own, making sure your ring is obvious to your friends.
"Caitlin, calm down, I think we know why only Y/n/n knew," Sam joins in, gesturing towards your hand.
"Wait oh my god guys really? How long have you been hiding this from us?" Caitlin asks, lowering her voice a tiny bit from the shout it was at before.
"Well we have been married for nearly seven years now, and before that we were together for four years I think, so about eleven years if I've got my times right." You reply, not letting go of Steph's hand, who was definitely still panicking about this whole situation. "You alright babe?" you ask, turning your attention to Steph.
"Yeah, I'm sorry because we woke up late I was in such a rush that I completely forgot to take my ring off," Steph says, her voice dropping slightly, making this part of the conversation just for the pair of you.
"It's okay, don't apologise, personally I think it was the best way to find out, low-key, very us."
"Wow, why have you kept it a secret this long?" Sam asks, not in an intrusive way, instead just being insanely curious.
"I mean when we first got together we were both young and just starting our proper careers, I guess we wanted it to be something we had for ourselves, and then I guess we just never found a good way to say it and so we kept it to ourselves and our families." Steph answers this time.
"Kyra? You okay? I think this is the longest I have ever heard you be quiet for," You joke, laughing playfully.
Kyra just looks between you and Steph silently for about another minute before a few tears come to her eyes. Since she joined Arsenal and when she first came up to the senior team for the national team, Kyra had kind of in a way been adopted by you and Steph, the pair of you both being very protective over the younger athlete. So when you see her crying, your instincts kick in and you stand up, rounding the table to bring Kyra in for a hug, making sure she is okay.
"Hey, what's up?" You ask her, concern lacing your voice.
"I can't believe it, you two are like my older sisters, especially in London, and you're married, I'm so happy for you." Kyra replies, trying not to let any other tears escape her eyes.
"Oh Kyra, you big softie, you had me worried there I thought you were upset." Steph comments.
"Right as cute as this whole thing is, we need to start making our way down to the bus so we can get to training," Sam says, getting up and clearly going back into captain mode.
"You heard captain Sammy, come on let's go," you reply, standing too.
After the team has all got on the bus, you and Steph finally get a bit of time almost alone together, you turn to your wife, smiling.
"Well our secret is out, are you alright? You got a bit flustered back there,"
"Yeah, I just didn't really know how to react when they found out, I mean I think we always knew that they would eventually but that was not how I thought it would happen, I guess it was just a bit of a shock," Steph replies.
"Yeah that's understandable, but at least it's out now, now we don't have to hide away in our room when one of us wants a hug"
Steph just laughs at that and then rests her head onto your shoulder, the two of you taking a moment to relax after what turned out to be a very chaotic breakfast.

Summary: Y/n gets injured but her wife, Renée, couldn't be there to watch because she had a big game for Arsenal, but when she hears about what happened, she can't get there fast enough to make sure everything is okay, feeling guilty for not being there.
Word count: 2.3k
Warnings: mentions of injury.
You knew deep down that this would be your last season playing, feeling the effects on your body after a long career. But you wanted more than anything to make it to one last major tournament with England in the summer, knowing that if you won the world cup then you could retire knowing that you had won everything that you had been able to throughout your career at least once. A lot of these successes and trophies had come with your wife, Renée, the pair of you having played together for most of your senior careers.
Today was one of the last games of the season, and your team had a big game in the title race against Man city at home, you had to admit, playing for the team that is the biggest rival of the team your wife managed was weird, the only time either of you played against each other when Renée was still playing was for your countries, you playing for England and Renée for the Netherlands, and so the first time the teams played each other, there was a bit of tension between you and your wife to begin with, until Olivia, your daughter who was only three at the time, asked why mummy and mamma weren't talking to each other and you both realised how silly it seemed, agreeing that in the future, nothing from football would be brought home, an agreement which lasted about two weeks until you and England beat the Netherlands and you came home after camp, teasing Renée relentlessly, especially when Olivia kept asking to wear her little England shirt with your name and number on the back wherever she went.
"Good luck today babe, I'll see you later," Renée says, kissing you on the head and then picking up Olivia's bag ready to leave.
"Bye-bye mamma, go score goals," Olivia says as she jumps up for a hug.
"Thank you Livvy, be good for mummy yeah and I'll see you both later,"
After another two hugs from Olivia, as always, your daughter never letting you leave before a game without at least three hugs and goodbyes, something which had become almost a pre-match ritual for you. After that you finally leave the house, running a little bit late but not too bad and know that you would be able to make the time up on the way to the training ground.
"Y/n you're late," your captain, Millie, says as you get out of your car when you arrive at the training ground.
"Yeah sorry, Olivia didn't want to say bye this morning," you explained.
"Just get on the bus," Millie says, you just roll your eyes and walk off. You've never really got on with Millie, the pair of you had never fully argued but it was clear neither of you were the others biggest fan.
"You two still at each others throats?" Kiera asks as you sit next to her on the bus.
"She just has a problem with me, she always has, doesn't bother me anymore to be honest,"
"I don't know what her problem is, she isn't like that with anyone else,"
"Yeah, well she isn't the one leading us in goals is she so she can say what she wants," you laugh, putting one airpod in and handing the other to Kiera like you always do before a match.
The journey to the stadium is not too long thankfully due to it being a home game and when you get there you all get off the bus and make your way into the changing room, you and Keira still having your shared playlist playing.
Pre-match preparations go as they always do, the routine comforting before a big important match like this. Once you have all warmed up and had the final team talk from Sonia, it is time to line up in the tunnel and get ready to start the game. You always make an effort to talk to the mascot that is walking out with you, knowing that this could be a little girl or boys biggest dream.
"Hello, what's your name kiddo?" You ask, leaning down to sort out your socks and to be more at the kids level.
"I'm Ava," the little girl responds.
"Hello Ava, it's lovely to meet you, who's your favourite player?"
"Uhm, either you or Hannah," Ava responds.
Before you can respond, the girls in front of you start walking out, so you reach your hand out for Ava to take and then you start to walk out of the tunnel too. After shaking hands with the other team, the mascots all run over to the sideline where their families are all waiting, whilst you are walking towards the team huddle, you make a mental note of where Ava and her parent went to sit, wanting to go over to her after the game, and you have an idea to take Hannah over since the girl said that you two were her favourite players.
The game starts off well, Sam scoring after sixteen minutes and then Aggie getting the second after ten minutes. These meant that you and the girls went into the changing rooms at half time with a 2-0 lead in the crucial game in the title race.
It is in the second half where things start to go wrong, as soon as you come out and kick back off, you notice straight away that they now have two players on you whenever you get the ball. The opponents clearly wanting you to not be able to play anymore balls through their defence like you had to assist both of your teams goals in the first half.
It is in the sixty-fifth minute when it happens, you had been being fouled for twenty minutes, and without the ref doing anything about it. You don't hear or see her coming, one minute you're passing the ball to Keira and then the next you felt studs in the back of your leg and you were then on the floor, grabbing your leg and ankle in pain.
"Y/n/n! Are you alright?" Lucy says, crouching down next to you, getting there first as she was closest to you when the foul came.
"No, fuck that hurts," you reply, opening your eyes and looking down at your ankle, seeing the blood coming through your socks already as she physios get to you.
"Y/n can you move your hand away, we need to be able to get to your ankle." The physio asks you, having to lean down right by your ear because of the noise coming from the crowd.
You do as the physio says, moving your hand away from the affected area, the pain only seeming to feel worse as the physios start to try and assess the extent of the damage. When you look at them, they're both talking to each other, you can't hear what they are saying but you can tell by the looks on their faces that it isn't going to be news that you will want to hear.
"Do you think you can walk Y/n?" The physio asks you.
"Yeah, I'll be fine, I can carry on," you reply, knowing you can't but also not wanting to have to come off injured.
"No you absolutely can't, so you're even walking off or we can get the stretcher, which I recommend, I don't think you should be walking on it."
"No, no stretcher, fine I'll come off, but can you just help me walk off instead of the stretcher?" You ask hopefully.
"Fine, but just be careful please." The physio gives in, helping you up and each physio putting an arm around you from each side as you start to hobble off the pitch.
When you finally get to the edge of the pitch, you give Wieke a hug as she is the person coming on for you, and then Sonia comes over to you, patting you on the shoulder and wishing you the best luck and hoping that the injury isn't as bad at it looks. After that the physios help you down the tunnel and into the changing room to be able to assess the extent of the injury.
After what feels like hours of waiting and the physio prodding and checking your ankle, but could have only been minutes in reality, the physio turns to you and from the look on her face alone tells you all you need to know.
"I'm so sorry to tell you this but it looks like with the way the opposition came in from behind studs up, and the way you landed, I think it is likely that it will be broken, we will get you some x-rays tomorrow and for now I'll give you some crutches, you can go and sit back out on the bench if you want, and I'll put a boot on it for you once I have cleaned and dressed the wound from the studs catching you, sound alright?" The physio finishes as she puts on a clean pair of gloves and starts to get all the stuff she will need.
"As alright as it can sound, how long will I be out for?" you ask, trying to hide how much it is hurting when the physio is touching around the area affected.
"If it is broken, then six months,"
You don't say anything else, just letting the physio finish clean up the cut and put the boot on before she hands you the crutches and then you decide to try and have a quick shower without getting your leg wet, which takes longer than you anticipated and by the time you have got changed into a tracksuit and made you're way back out to the side of the pitch, the final whistle is being blown as you make your way out of the tunnel.
"Oh Y/n, what are they saying it looks like?" Sonia asks as she sees you come up behind her.
"Looks like it could be broken, I'm having scans tomorrow so I guess we'll find out then."
"I'm sorry Y/n, I hope it isn't too bad and that we can get you back out there as soon as possible, we're all here for you through it all ok?" Sonia says, carefully placing an arm around your shoulder as you both make your way onto the pitch for the post match huddle with your team mates, when she sees you Keira jogs over.
"You alright mate? That looked nasty," she asks you.
"I've been better I won't lie, physios think it's broken so could be six months out," You reply to Keira before Sonia starts her post-match talk.
After all the usual post-match responsibilities and rituals everyone gets on the bus, Keira not letting you carry your own bag, even after you protest that you could still carry it. Once you've settled on the coach you finally check your phone for the first time since before the match and you turn it on to see five missed calls and seven messages from Renée asking if you were ok, saying she had seen the tackle, you decide to call her back now, knowing you're wife will be worrying and won't calm down until she hears from you and actually hears your voice. You press her contact and she answers after the second ring.
"Y/n/n? Are you ok? Have they said what it is?" Renée asks, not giving you any time to answer one question before she asks you the next one, and from the noise you can hear in the background you can tell she is on the bus back to the training ground after her own teams game and you can hear Olivia in the background too.
"I'm fine babe, well as fine as I can be," you admit.
"Me and Oli will come and get you when you get back, we are only about five minutes away from the training ground so I'll get her off the coach quickly and then I'll drive to your training ground to come pick you up." Renée says, panic still clear in her voice.
"Okay thank you, no need to rush, I can wait," you reply.
The phone call ends soon after that and before you know it the coach is pulling back into Cobham and everyone is getting off, Keira picking up your bag again before you can get the chance to take it yourself. Surprisingly it is only about fifteen minutes of waiting until you get a message from Renée to say that they're outside so you start to stand up, sorting your crutches as Keira, who waited with you despite you saying you could be on your own, picked up your and her own bag and then you both make your way outside to the car park where you see Renée waiting by the car, pushing herself off the car and rushing over to you.
"I am so sorry I wasn't there when it happened, you know if I could have I would've been right next to you," Renée says.
"It's fine Renée, I'm fine, now come on let's get home, I need some sleep, and we need to by Liv down as well," you reply, getting into the car on the passenger side and turns around to say hello to Olivia.
Once you get home you try to help put Olivia to bed before getting ready for bed yourself, with some help from Renée. After that you both go to sleep. The next day you go for scans and it does turn out that you have broken your ankle, which is devastating knowing your season is over, but you know that you'll get through it, with the help of Renée and your team mates.
Summary: Downloading the dating app started as a joke, but after matching with her and talking for a few weeks it has become very much not a joke anymore.
Word count: 3.5k (this got longer than I meant it to)
Warnings: None I don't think
Y/n had never been that interested in football, it wasn't that she didn't like it, she would watch it if it happened to be on the tv, she just didn't really go out of her way to look for it, that was until her younger sister watched one of England's Euro matches and was hooked on the sport. Just because she wasn't as invested as her sister in football, did not mean that Y/n did not enjoy sports all together, in fact Y/n has played tennis since she was around four and never really looked back.
When Y/n's best friend, Emma, said that she should download a dating app, Emma stating that Y/n has been single for too long and that she should get herself out more, Y/n agreed but only as a joke, not thinking it would come to anything anyway.
Emma helps her set up the profile, claiming to be an expert, but Y/n decides to leave out the fact that she plays tennis professionally, knowing from the past that people can treat you differently if they know something like that right from the start.
After a few days, Y/n hadn't really looked at the app, mainly because she had been busy organising her younger sisters birthday party, who was turning 10 next week. Y/n loves her sister more than anything which is why, although it was a massive change and a huge responsibility, she did not hesitate when she was asked to look after her when their mum got ill and couldn't manage it anymore.
"Y/n!!" Dotty shouts from the bottom of the stairs, "are you nearly done? You said you'd play with me when you were finished."
"Nearly done, I'm wrapping the last one now," Y/n responds, "don't come in here, I don't want you to see before next week,"
"Okayyy but be quick, I'm bored."
Y/n just laughs at how impatient her little sister can be when she is bored, before finishing wrapping the last present and putting them back in the bottom of her wardrobe so they are out of the way until next week. Y/n then goes downstairs, checking her phone on the way down to see that Emma said she was leaving and would be there in about 10 minutes.
"Finally!! Can you play with me now please Y/n/n?" Dotty asks.
"Of course I can, and Auntie Emma is coming round soon," Y/n says, sitting down next to Dotty on the floor, noticing that her baby sister had already got the lego out and it was all over the floor as it pretty much always was.
"Yay! Auntie Emma is funny," Dotty practically screams.
Emma doesn't knock when she arrives, never does anymore, Y/n gave her the spare key for emergencies, but Emma took it that it meant she could just let herself in whenever she felt like it.
"Hello my favourite people," Emma announces herself.
"Auntie Emma!" Dotty says, running to where Emma was now stood, arms out ready for a hug from the young child.
"Let yourself in why don't you," Y/n jokes.
"Well you gave me a key so I think that is a you problem," Emma says as she comes over to sit down next to her best mate.
Before Y/n can respond again, Emma is being dragged onto the floor by Dotty to play with her, which Emma happily does. After a while, however, Emma looks back from where she is sat on the floor, playing lego with her honorary niece like it is the most natural thing in the world.
"Soooo, what is going on with the dating app? Anyone interesting come up yet?" Emma asks, and although Y/n does not want to talk about it, but she also knows how persistent her best mate can be so she just sighs.
"I don't actually know, I've barely looked at it," Y/n admits.
"Why not? Come on at least give it a go," Emma protests.
"Not because I haven't wanted to, actually," Y/n starts, playfully rolling her eyes at Emma, "I have just been crazy busy organising everything for Dots birthday,"
"Well you aren't doing anything now, why don't you check it?" Emma responds, staying completely focused on what Dotty is making her build.
Y/n picks up her phone and goes onto the app to see that not much has happened on there, but there is a message from one person, but when Y/n sees that the hello message is from a few days ago, there is a part of her that thinks she may have lost her shot already.
After a quick look at the girls profile, it is clear that she is exactly Y/n's type and so although it probably seems like she has been ignoring this girl for the past few days, Y/n messages back.
Y/n: Hi, so sorry about not responding until now.
"There we go," Y/n says, turning her phone around to show Emma that she had actually messaged someone.
"Wow she's fit, you've got lucky there," Emma responds.
"Nothing has even happened yet, don't get too ahead of yourself."
The rest of the day is pretty quiet, and although she doesn't admit it, Y/n spends the rest of the afternoon checking her phone occasionally, Emma stays after Dotty has been put to bed and Y/n knows that she is going to be interrogated more by her best mate when she comes back down after settling her younger sister.
"So I've seen you looking at your phone all afternoon, what's been going on?" Emma asks.
"Nothing I just don't want to miss a message and not respond for days like I did the first time," Y/n admits.
"You're amazing you know that," Emma laughs.
"What are you talking about?"
"Well most people would not care this much about responding to someone that they haven't even been talking to for a whole day yet,"
*skip a week*
"Y/n!!! Wake up," Is all Y/n hears before she feels Dotty jump onto her.
"Morning Dot, you're up early this morning," Y/n responds looking at the clock to see that it is only half six.
"Yes, because it is my birthday!!" Dotty screams.
"Woah okay, yes it is your birthday, if you let me wake up a little bit and then we can go downstairs okay?"
"Okay, but be quick, I want to open my presents," Dotty says as she jumps off the bed and runs downstairs.
Y/n sits up properly in bed and then checks her phone, not expecting anyone to have messaged her because it was still early, but when she does she sees there is a message from Lize, the girl from the dating app. Since the day Emma was round, Y/n and Lize had been talking a lot and you had already been on a date, luckily Emma is always happy to look after Dotty when Y/n needs help.
Lize: Morning, thought I would message before I left this morning, I have quite a busy day and didn't want you to think I was ignoring you x
Y/n: Morning, you're up early x
Lize: Could say the same to you x
Y/n: Well I have an excited 10 year old who's birthday is today so I was always going to be woken up far too early x
Lize: Oh yeah, I hope she has the best birthday x
Y/n: Thank you, I hope you have a good day too, I better go before she comes and shouts at me for taking too long, but I'll speak to you later? x
Lize: Yeah of course x
Y/n then goes downstairs to see Dotty sat on the floor ready to open her presents, but what she doesn't know is that Y/n has one extra present that she wants Dotty to open last. After Dotty has opened all the presents in front of her, which took a while because after opening each one she would jump up and give her older sister a hug and say thank you each time.
"Thank you so much Y/n/n, I love all of it," Dotty says, moving to sit next to Y/n on the sofa.
"That's ok kiddo, I do have one more surprise for you, do you want to open it now, or later when auntie Emma comes round?" Y/n asks.
"Now please!"
"Okay, let me go get it then," Y/n says going upstairs to get the last present.
Y/n comes back down with it and hands the present to Dotty but this time Y/n got her phone out, wanting to get Dotty's reaction to this one more than any other of the presents she got her younger sister.
"A spurs shirt, thank you, you're the best big sister ever!" Dotty screams.
"Thank you, but I don't think you've seen all of it, what's that piece of paper that fell out of it?" Y/n asks, smiling.
"A ticket?"
"That's right, tomorrow we are going to watch their game against Brighton,"
The rest of the day is pretty chaotic, Dotty insisted on putting her new spurs shirt on straight away, which she didn't at first notice also had her favourite players name and number on the back. And once Emma and a few of Dotty's friends got round later on in the day it was even louder, but Dotty was having a great time and that is all Y/n cared about. After a lot of encouraging and persuading, Y/n finally got Dotty to go to sleep, only half an hour later than the ideal bedtime. Once Y/n had tidied up a bit and finally sat down for what felt like the first time all day, finally getting to look at her phone, where she sees another message from Lize.
Lize: Hey, how has your day been? Did Dotty have a good birthday? x
Y/n: Hiya, yes very busy but Dotty had the best time so that's what matters x
Lize: Ahh that's good, I'm glad she had a good day, did she get any nice presents? x
Y/n: Yeah, well I thought I spoiled her but then my best mate Emma came round and I swear she must have got her nearly double of what I did, pretty sure I still won for the best present though x
Lize: Very confident, and what was this amazing present you got her then? x
Y/n: Well I got her a football shirt with her favourite player on the back and then tickets for a game tomorrow. x
Lize: Oh you follow football? x
Y/n: Not really, Dot loves it though, absolutely obsessed, what about you, do you follow football? x
Lize: You could say that x
Y/n thought that was a bit of a weird response but she didn't really think anything of it and they just carried on talking for a while longer before Y/n says she should probably go to bed, expecting another early wake up the next morning because of how excited Dotty was going to be.
And Y/n was very right, because the next morning again at half six she feels her younger sister jump onto her bed again, but this time she climbs in next to Y/n and lays down.
"Morning little one," Y/n says, wrapping her arm round her little sister for a hug. "you not as excited today?"
"No I am, but I wanted a cuddle first,"
They lay there for a while before Y/n says that they need to get up and have some breakfast so that they can leave in time to get to the stadium before kick off. So after Y/n made pancakes and Dotty had used far too much chocolate sauce, they made their way upstairs and finished getting ready before leaving the house and getting into the car.
It wasn't an overly long drive to the stadium where spurs women played, but Y/n wanted to get there early so that she could give her sister the full experience, knowing that the younger girl has wanted to come watch a game live for ages.
It's when they get to their seats that Y/n first sees her, all the players are warming up but it is the goalkeeper she is drawn to, at first she puts it down as a mistake but this girl looks exactly like Lize. Putting it aside for now she turns to Dotty.
"Who's your favourite again Dot?" Y/n asks her younger sister.
"Lize Kop," it has to be a coincidence, surely Lize would have told Y/n that she was a professional footballer, especially after their conversation last night.
"Ahh I see, and which one is she?" Y/n continues, trying to seem as normal as possible, not wanting all the questions from her younger sister.
"The one in goal, she is soooo good, I want to be just like her when I grow up, can I start playing football Y/n? Not just in the garden, but like a proper team?"
"Of course you can, I can sort that out for you I'm sure," Y/n agrees, although she isn't fully focused on the conversation, still looking towards the goal, where she is almost certain is the girl she has been talking to for the past few weeks.
It's not long before all the players are finished warming up and start walking towards the tunnel, which is right near where Y/n and Dotty were sat, Dotty jumped up as Lize started to walk over and started shouting her name and waving. Without thinking, Lize looks up to above the tunnel where Dotty was shouting from, but when she looks up, she and Y/n lock eyes, Lize, not fully knowing what to do, waves back to Dotty and gives Y/n a smile before walking down the tunnel towards the changing room, planning to speak to Y/n and the end of the game.
"Y/n!!! She waved at me, did you see?" Dotty screams.
"I did, that is so cool isn't it?"
So it turns out that Lize is like incredible at football, well Y/n doesn't really know a thing about football but she thinks that Lize is great, and Y/n does know that the goalkeeper's main job is to stop the other team scoring any goals and she does that for the full game so she must be pretty good.
After the final whistle the players all go round shaking each others hands and talking to each other for a while before some players start to come towards the stands to meet some fans or see their family who are here, but Y/n notices that Lize starts to walk straight towards her and Dotty.
"Hey Y/n," She says as she finally gets over to them.
"Y/n how does Lize Kop know your name?" Dotty asks.
"And you must be Dotty," Lize says, crouching down to be at the young girls level, Dotty goes shy at this and clings to Y/n.
"Sooo... you never told me you were like an amazing footballer," Y/n comments playfully.
"Yeah, uhm I was going to but I didn't want to straight away because people can sometimes get funny when they know from the start, has it put you off?" the athlete asks, avoiding eye contact at the last bit.
"No," Y/n simply states, one of her arms still around Dotty who hadn't moved from right next to her.
"Wait really?"
"Of course not, I completely get why you did it, and although this means this one is going to like you more than I do," Y/n starts, gesturing towards Dotty, "but I guess that is kind of cute, so no I don't mind, but I wasn't lying last night when I said I know nothing about football." Y/n laughs.
"Well that is relieving, anyway I have to go but are you guys rushing off?" Lize asks.
"We don't have to no, we were just going to go for dinner before going home,"
"Well if you can wait for about half an hour, I'd love to come with you both, as long as that isn't overstepping,"
"That sounds lovely, where should we wait for you?" Y/n asks.
"Just wait outside near where the bus is, there will probably be some fans out there already so it should be alright, I'll be as quick as I can," Lize says as she runs off down the tunnel to go get ready.
"Y/n?" Dotty says as they start to walk out of the stadium.
"Yes Dot, you okay? You went a bit shy there didn't you,"
"How do you know her?"
"Well you know I have been talking to someone a lot recently and Auntie Emma looked after you when I went out that night, well Lize is who I have been talking to,"
"That is so cool,"
After waiting a little while Y/n and Dotty see Lize, now with wet hair from a shower and in a team tracksuit instead of her kit.
"You both good to go?" She asks as she gets over to them.
"Yeah all good," Y/n responds. They all then start to walk off, Lize ignoring the teasing from her team mates as they do.
"Ignore them, they think they're funny, right where are we going?" Lize asks as they're walking away.
"We were thinking Italian, Dotty wanted a pizza didn't you Dot,"
"Ooh that is a great choice, I know a lovely place just around the corner from here, what do you like on your pizza Dotty?" Lize asks, clearly trying to bring the young girl out of her shell a bit.
"I usually just get ham," Dotty replies.
"That is a brilliant choice,"
They all have a lovely dinner and once Dotty had got over being shy it was much better and she definitely enjoyed meeting her idol just as much, if not more than the actual match. After they had all eaten, and after Y/n and Lize argue over who is paying for the dinner, which Lize wins, they make their way back out and start to walk back to the station, and once they get on the train Lize just smiles and opens her bag.
"So Dotty, did I hear you're sister say that I'm your favourite player?" Lize asks.
"Yeah, cause you're like the best goalkeeper ever," Dotty responds.
"And I also heard that it was your birthday yesterday, so I think I have something you might like," Lize says, pulling something out her bag, once she's got it out, Y/n can see that it is Lize's matchworn shirt from the game today. "Here you go kiddo,"
"Wow really? Can I keep it?" Dotty asks, very excited.
"Of course you can, it's all yours,"
"Thank you, thank you!" Dotty says as she jumps up and wraps her arms around Lize for a hug.
"You're welcome, and maybe next time you come to a match, how about I get some of the other girls to come over and meet you?"
"Really?"
"Don't feel like you have to do all of this Lize," Y/n says.
"I know, but I want to," Lize smiles.
Before long they get to Y/n and Dotty's stop and Lize says she is also getting off because she needs to change trains to get home, which makes the goodbye less rushed.
"Thank you again for giving her the shirt, that's made her year," Y/n says, going in for a hug with the athlete.
"You don't need to thank me, I'll have to give you one too for the next time you bring her to a game, you may not understand what's going on but you can at least look good whilst you're clueless," Lize smirks.
"Oi, I'm not completely clueless, thank you very much," Y/n argues.
"Yes you are," Dotty starts, "we were watching a game the other week and she asked why someone picked it up when they were taking a throw in," she laughs, directing the last bit towards Lize as they both laugh.
"Wow so you're just both going to gang up on me all the time aren't you?" Y/n moans, rolling her eyes but smiling at how happy her younger sister is with Lize. "And anyway it's called football of course I was confused,"
"You're so cute, look as much as I would love to carry on teasing you, if I miss this next train in a few minutes I'm going to have to wait half an hour, but how about next time we see each other, me and Dotty can teach you a bit, if you're going to be more involved in football you may as well know a bit about it," Lize smiles.
"Ok that sounds great, yes go get your train, text me when you get home safe please and I'll see you soon," Y/n replies.
"See you soon Y/n/n, bye Dotty, I'll see you later," Lize says as she walks off to the platform where her next train is, and Y/n and Dotty walking out of the station to make their way home.
Summary: Now that Y/n is growing up, and following in both Caitlin and Katie's footsteps, although they both knew that the time was coming, neither women would ever be ready for the day their daughter brought someone home for the first time.
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings: none, not proofread as always so apologies for am
A/n: @mccardswife and @royle99 I combined both of your requests into this, hope you enjoy, also sorry I only just saw your comments now and tumblr doesn't let me comment so I couldn't respond to them on the original post. :)
Y/n has been in the arsenal academy from pretty much the moment she was old enough, but even though Katie and Caitlin both really wanted her to follow in their footsteps, they never once forced her into the sport and always tried to make it clear that if she ever wanted to, Y/n could stop playing football at any point. That never happened though which is what led her to where she is today, about to make her first team debut at just 17 years old. Although Katie and Caitlin had both retired, Katie and Caitlin would be there with pretty much all the girls they used to play with, no one wanting to miss this moment, them all basically being a family.
"You ready for this Y/n/n," Daisy asks as she finishes changing out of her warm-up top and into the match kit, leaning over to Y/n who was doing the same next to her.
"As ready as I'll ever be I guess," Y/n responds.
"You are going to be great, just try not to give us away in a celebration if you score," Daisy jokes.
And that was the one thing that her parents didn't know about her. Y/n has always been completely open with both Caitlin and Katie, Y/n never being worried to tell her parents anything, including the fact that she likes girls. But the one thing that some what worried her was actually bringing a girl home to meet her parents, not through them not accepting her, but because Y/n knows how protective they both are of her, especially Katie, and so Y/n wanted it to be the right time before she introduced anyone to them.
"I'll try my best, but I could say the same to you,"
"Right come on girls, lets do this, it may just be a friendly but let's treat it as any other game and go out and win it," Kyra, who is now the team captain, shouts.
The game was going pretty well, quite uneventful and Arsenal are winning 4-0 in the 70th minute, Daisy came off about 15 minutes ago after a slight knock, nothing serious but no one wanted to risk anything and so she was subbed off, the ball has just gone out of play and as planned, Y/n's number is shown on the board, signalling that she is now also coming off. She walks off the pitch and goes over to the bench, taking a seat next to Daisy, thanking her when she passes Y/n a water bottle.
"Well done you, what a performance on your first start," Daisy congratulates.
"Very formal, what's going on with you?" Y/n jokes.
"Well we are technically going to be colleagues now so you know, proper behaviour,"
"You're such an idiot," Y/n laughs.
"Yeah but a loveable idiot right," Daisy smirks.
"Sometimes, you're alright I suppose," Y/n laughs, clearly finding herself very funny.
"Wow, I see how it is, you know you're not perfect,"
Before Y/n can respond, another player comes over to sit next to them both and congratulate them on their debuts, meaning that they have to put the 'just friends' persona back on.
Everyone knew how close Y/n and Daisy were, they had been in the academy together for years, and with Daisy only being two weeks older than Y/n meant that they had pretty much moved through the age groups at exactly the same times as each other, including both moving into the first team environment at just 17 years old.
The game ended and everyone went round doing the usual things of meeting some of the fans and stuff like that. Just as Y/n and Daisy are about to walk over to their families, one of the media team come over to them.
"After you're both done talking to your families, can we just borrow you both for a few questions, also well done both of you, you were amazing,"
Both of them agree and then finish walking over to their families, Y/n not even fully there before getting engulfed in a hug by both Katie and Caitlin.
"We are both so proud of you Y/n/n," Caitlin says after pressing a kiss to her daughters forehead.
"Thanks mum," Y/n replies, not even trying to get away from the Caitlin, knowing that there is no way Caitlin is going to let her get away without being affectionate first.
After a few more minutes, Y/n notices that Daisy was already done with her family, not looking as happy as she was a minute ago.
"I'll see you both later, I need to go, Emma wanted me and Daisy to do some media stuff," Y/n says, finally pulling away from her parents.
"Okay darling, I'll see you later, well done again," Caitlin replies.
Y/n smiles and walks off after one last hug, Y/n walks over to Daisy.
"What's happened with you? You were on top of the world before you went over there," Y/n asks, a slight hint of teasing as always, but the genuine concern at the forefront of the question.
"It's nothing, come on we don't want to keep Emma waiting," Daisy says, deflecting the question.
"Dais, don't do that, come on what's going on, Emma can be patient for a few more minutes," Y/n replies, reaching to touch Daisy's arm as they get into the tunnel, out of the view of the people who were still in the stadium.
"It's just my dad, don't worry it's stupid,"
"What's he done now, why did he even bother coming if he was just going to be horrible," Y/n says, clearly frustrated by this, it not being the first time.
"It's fine, I'm not going to let him ruin today, now come on lets go," Daisy says, trying to reassure Y/n that she is okay.
"Okay, but promise me that if it is bothering you that you'll talk to me?"
"Promise,"
Y/n just smiles at that and then the pair carry on walking down the tunnel to where Emma is waiting for them, when they get to her she tells them what she needs them to do, just a short video for the teams social media platforms, but just before they actually start, Emma gives Daisy the phone and talks to Y/n privately quickly.
"We have a surprise for Daisy, she got player of the match and we think it would be nice if her best friend could give her the trophy,"
"I would love to," Y/n replies, taking the trophy and attempting to hide it behind her back without looking weird and ruining the surprise for Daisy.
"Hi guys, we just wanted to say thanks for coming today and we can't wait to see more of you for the wsl opener next week," Daisy starts, holding the phone and looking towards it, trying to ignore how close Y/n is to her right then.
"Yeah thank you guys, and I have a surprise for you Daisy," Y/n says as she pulls the trophy out from behind her back, "Well done Dais, player of the match in your first senior start, pretty impressive I suppose," Y/n jokes as she hands the trophy over.
"Wow thank you, I was not expecting that," Daisy says before ending the video and passing the phone back to Emma, and then Y/n pulls her in for a proper hug, knowing that there is no cameras to catch things and start rumours about them. Even though they both know that any rumours would 100% be true.
"Come on, you need a shower, player of the match," Y/n says as she pulls away and starts to walk towards the changing room.
"Before we do, are you sure you are ready to tell your parents about us today, I know you've been a bit nervous about it," Daisy says.
"Yeah, I don't want us to have to hide around them anymore, plus they're going to find out eventually, it'll be better if I actually tell them rather than them just finding out in some other way,"
"Okay then, well I don't really want to be all sweaty when I meet them as your girlfriend for the first time so I need to go have a shower, so come on, plus I don't want to get shouted at by Kyra again for taking too long." Daisy says as she starts to make her way back into the changing room.
"I actually never thought I would see the day where someone was genuinely scared of Kyra," Y/n laughs, following Daisy.
"I am not scared of her," Daisy protests, even though they both know that she absolutely is.
They both go and get ready, Katie and Caitlin knew that Daisy was coming round for dinner, like she has many times before but they didn’t know that Y/n and Daisy had something big to tell them tonight.
“You ready to go Daisy?” Y/n asks, already ready and sat down by her locker.
“Yeah let me just get my bag and then we can go,” Daisy responds.
Daisy puts the last things in her bag before following Y/n out of the changing room towards the car park, where Katie and Caitlin said they would wait.
"Hi girls, you both got everything?" Caitlin asks as the younger girls both get in the back of the car.
"Yeah all good," Daisy and Y/n both reply at the same time.
The drive back home is pretty normal, Caitlin and Katie mainly asking how Daisy has been since the last time they saw her. Y/n really liked the fact that her parents already knew Daisy and she felt like that fact would make the news much easier to break to them. Once they get back, Caitlin starts to make dinner for them all, Katie going to sit down in the front room followed by Y/n and Daisy.
When they all sit down for dinner is when Y/n decides that now is the time to tell them.
"So we kind of have something that we have been meaning to tell you," Y/n begins.
"Is everything alright darling," Caitlin asks, worrying for the worst as always.
"Yeah, it's just that me and Daisy aren't just friends anymore and we thought it was time to tell you," Y/n finally says, feeling the weight lift as soon as the words came out.
"Well it's about time," Katie says, acting as if it was the most normal thing for her daughter to say.
"Yeah, we had kind of figured it out, you two aren't exactly the most discreet about it," Caitlin adds.
"What and you're both okay with it," Y/n asks.
"Of course we are, as much as I don't like to admit it, you're not a little kid anymore," Caitlin continues.
The rest of the evening is pretty quiet, apart from Katie teasing as always, and Caitlin playfully telling her wife off, even though she finds it funny as well.
