Here is something different. Hanging out with Chandra at the AKC trial last weekend and working on being calm. And not making noises like at the very beginning, which is what my mom *wanted* to record, lol. Waiting patiently while not being actively engaged is something Chandra struggles with and Iâm trying to do better with her than I did with Ryker, both with that and not being over-aroused in general by agility. Solstice needed amped up, Ryker and Chandra do not!! All I really knew with Ryker was âwear him out to take the edge offâ with fetch and/or obedience routines before agility, which really didnât work in the long run. Chandra has a pretty good chin target as one capping behavior and in the second rep I upped the ante a bit by holding my hand farther away so she had to work for it.
Aww go Chandra!!!
Curious what you meant by the chin target is one capping behavior--any chance you could explain what that means/how you utilize it? Castle struggles while waiting if I'm not actively working him as well, so I'm curious as to what you were working on here/your plan to manage it--if you don't mind me asking.
