Check my California Poppy for the Plants and Flowers show @giantrobotstore curated by @cassloop. I stained the wood using watercolors again, I think the color transition turned out pretty nice. I made a hand cranked Godzilla for the Kaiju Show at Giant Robot Store. Here is the very short process video. Carving this bass wood is super nice though I'm not a super fast carver.

More outline experiments on watercolors 💦 with this one I was trying 2 colored inks that matched or contrasted the other colors (blue and magenta). I think it adds that comic style bold line with some added subtlety. Also I left the crystal without an outline for a more cloudy-ethereal look. #watercolorIllustration #weirdArt

I keep on making versions of this frog. This one is on watercolor paper and I enjoyed making the spots because you can put a really wet puddle down 💦 and as it dries the pigment darkens the edges of the spot. Ok this one is actually on watercolor paper. What I found most surprising about it is how much water it can take! Much easier to do gradients and other effects when you can make a big puddle 💦 Paper really maters with this stuff.

🐸 More watercolor experiments with a page of frogs inspired by something I heard @hokansontaylor say once about swallowing the frog (kind of means just do it and stop procrastinating).⁣ ⁣ It's maybe based on something Mark Twain wrote:⁣ ⁣ “If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.”⁣ ⁣ I feel like more often than not it is the frog doing the swallowing. If you don't swallow the frog at least run away so it doesn't swallow you 😅🐸💚

I drew an imaginary plant on the wood of some very real terrestrial plants. ⁣ ⁣ This piece is made with Japanese Cedar (スギ), Japanese Torreya(カヤ), Katsura wood(カツラ), Poplar and Baltic Birch. I was trying to get some fun contrasting woods for the inlays.
