remember when karadec and lucia had that whole talk about how he couldn't be with her bc he didn't think he deserved her? and then he stared longingly at morgan for the next however many episodes and now is just taking every opportunity to touch her and congratulate her and be there for her even if it means being there for the guy he must realize she's falling for? anyway lots of thoughts about why adam decided he was good enough for lucia out of absolutely nowhere.
This graffiti is Morgan’s imagined concept of her and Karadec’s street artist names/styles
KSQUARE - Karadec’s last initial + his tendencies of rule following and being, well, square 😂 The letters are all straight lines, uniform size, and monochromatic. There are small white squares inside the letters and gray squares on the outside - NO other shapes. He's all about consistency and uniformity.
Morgue-N - colorful and dynamic like Morgan. The spelling is wordplay on her job solving murders (morgue), and the eyes in ‘o’ and ‘g’ represent her expression when she’s thinking. The leopard spots on the outside are part of many of her outfits. The letter sizes are all variable, but there's still a sense of symmetry compositionally - chaos with purpose!
I just re-watched the scene where Colin is telling Penelope "I don't really care if "Marina" had feelings for another, It would be rich if I flirted with half the women in London at a point or another.
It's so interesting thinking about that line. Colin didn't have the urgency to kiss Marina even if he was a virgin in S1. If Colin really had the urgency to kiss her, he would have.
Then we get to Season 3 and Colin comes into town flirting with all these women publicly. When Penelope asks for one kiss he does it and even kisses her again unlike Marina when he stops himself. Colin also DOES CARE when Penelope has found feelings for another he is Extremely Jealous and completely loses himself. He also has no interest in flirting with women anymore they will walk up to him and try flirting but he just looks away. He will talk normally and give advice like "what gave you the courage to be so brave" but he is not flirting with them anymore. There is a stark difference infatuation and Love!
Just for some Bridgerton fans still saying oh Colin loved Marina and only got with Penelope because he couldn't have Marina. It's literally written in the show the difference he felt for both women.
Friends to lovers 🥰

"i asked chatgpt-" "well, i asked my mom over text. and, uh, well she ghosted me. now we're fighting about it. no, no, don't worry, she'll probably forget about it tomorrow."
Everyone Is Cheating Their Way Through College
"Which raises the possibility that AIs are now evaluating AI-generated papers, reducing the entire academic exercise to a conversation between two robots"
If you want universities to be a place of learning and intellectual discussion, there's ways to do that:
Un paywall academic journals and archives and turn universities into open archives of knowledge freely available to the public like libraries are.
Classes piecemeal and offered to the public, no application or transcript needed.
Safety training is done the way trade school does such things--if you mess up a practise weld, your trainer tells you how you messed up and you do it again and again and again until you get it right, BEFORE you are allowed to do it on a building or a bridge anywhere in the real world. Because the important thing is you learning how to do it properly and safely.
No homework. It doesn't help.
Montessori training for all teachers so they don't fucking abuse the students, as "traditional" teachers are trained to do.
Dismantle No Child Left Behind and tying school funding to test results, attendance, or zip code. The only thing school funding should be tied to is probably census data i.e. population count or something unbiased like that. Someone smarter than me about this probably has ideas.
No rushing through everything and leaving students behind who don't keep up, or don't learn the first way you teach. Learn how to teach EVERYONE.
Smaller class sizes, I'm talking no more than 15 students per teacher for the important stuff like safety training
Destroy the abusive toxic culture in medical school I'm not fucking kidding that is KILLING people.
Ditto law school.
Why are we doing this Protestant Work Yourself To Death Ethic it is 2026 move ON i don't have time for this christian nonsense.
Stop having everything be paperless and online. Not everyone has access to the internet or a smartphone. Part of making things accessible and unpaywalling them is BRINGING BACK PRINTED BOOKS AND REFERENCE MATERIALS.
That's all I can think of so far.
Yasss who else is a kinda lame aimless adult in they mid to late 20s
Does it annoy anyone else really badly when people erase less conventional character traits in fics so that the relationship comes out looking better??? So the example of this that inspired the post would be podcast!johnlock (but tbh every type of johnlock), because it feels like people purposely erase John and Sherlock’s personalities to make their romance more palatable and I think it’s such a pity. No, Sherlock probably wouldn’t start being okay with sleeping in a room with someone else frequently or doing dishes if he was in a relationship, just as John wouldn’t stop being insecure or ignorant/insensitive on occasion. They’re people with flaws and, regardless of what the novels may tell you, flaws don’t magically disappear when you enter a romantic relationship. Let them be messy and stupid and imperfect and in love I promise it will be okay

some of you need to re-learn the word "selfish" and stop calling everyone a fucking narcissist
all politics about ai aside if you use it to create fanwork you're just a fucking dweeb
not to show my jock colors on this my nerd blog but the whole fucking point is that it's for love of the game. sweat over it or get the fuck out. i'm no gatekeeper but if you're using ai you're not even playing. you're trying to pave over the baseball diamond and make it a parking lot.
i think every member of the usa women’s hockey team should be able to handpick a member of the men’s team to hunt with a crossbow and machete
i saw a post on twitter by a european saying americans are fake for their random compliments to strangers and their general cheery demeanor and like no. no no no you don’t understand. if you get a random compliment from an american on the street about your outfit or whatever, that is 100% genuine. we mean it. we aren’t lying we are making a small but fleeting connection with you because our lives are shitty but the human condition is enduring. oh god i’m clutching my chest
If you get a compliment from a random American on the street, know that they tried their best to keep from saying a peep to you but they literally could not hold it in. They HAD to say something.
The other day a tiny gay man in a hurry bumped me on the Metro escalator and said "Sorry, great dress by the way" and then he stopped at the top of the escalator and turned around and said "AND a great hat. THAT is how we do summer!" and SPRINTED for his bus and I coasted on that for the rest of the day.
Love this post!
When I first moved to Prague I had a colleague who had such great style, and I always complimented her because I thought she was hot and cool. Years later when we were friends, she told me that she always suspected me of trying to manipulate her somehow because that is not how Czechs roll, and it was really inconceivable to her that I was simply complimenting her with no ulterior motive, but that's culturally normal to me?
Also, I am married to a British person, and his mother is an artist -- she's a collograph print-maker, and she told me that whenever she wants a pick me up, she sends photos of her latest prints to me, because I can be counted upon to say something nice. What can I say? I love her work? Her prints are beautiful, so...not faking?
Americans have a lot of blind spots and issues, but saying the nice thing in their brains to other people is fine? Like? A little more kindness and connection isn't hurting anyone?
There was a post on r/askanamerican just the other day, by a guy living in Eastern Europe who has a fun backpack (it looks like a reeses cup package with a bite taken out of it!) and said he constantly got compliments on it from American tourists
And he was like...are all of you like that? You say nice things to total strangers as if you're life-long friends??
And the entire comment section was like: Yup. Absolutely. This is 100% a thing we do.
And someone looked up a picture of the backpack and shared it and we were all like OMG THAT IS AN AMAZING BACKPACK yeah if I saw someone in any city on earth wearing that thing I would in fact say something.
Sometimes posts on that subreddit are a trash fire, but we were all so happy to talk about times we've told strangers compliments or been complimented by strangers.
And genuinely, it's one of the few things that makes me proud to be American. Like. We have a reputation for telling total strangers when we like something they're wearing/doing. And we mean it, every single time!

Do you want to be politically pure in theory or help your neighbor. Is it fruitless to help your neighbor because there's no Perfect Pure way to do it ?
Honestly I would rather be politically pure. Your neighbors would never help you, so why help them?
Youre who this post is talking about. Individualism and elitism is not going to help the revolution and grassroots activism and mutual aid.
When the pandemic hit this old church lady joined our tattooed queer leftist mutual aid group bc her church soup kitchen closed. We shrugged and told her she was welcome as long as she didn't proselytize.
That woman never gendered me right once, but she shut up about Jesus long enough to feed people next to us bc she cared more about action than ideology. She also had a whole network of other church people who helped contribute $ to ingredients. We provided more and better meals together than in our "correct" silos
That's how any of us get out of any of this
#I can't eat theory but I can get a warm meal at a soup kitchen#I call this yapping or working#Yapping is good while you're working#But if you're not working all yapping is fruitless
i know gender and sexuality arent exactly the same but “i could survive being with a man” is comphet. “i could survive living as a man” sounds much the same. you’re not meant to live in survival mode. it sounds like you do *need* to transition
That’s… fair
with 2+ years of hindsight (and almost 10 months of HRT), I want to thank this anon, because I think genuinely this played a significant role in helping me to start transitioning.
I've been so much happier since then, and especially since starting HRT. Yeah, there are new struggles and anxieties and problems to adapt to, but I'm also learning how to enjoy life and find myself and love myself, and it's definitely worth it.
Over the past year I've laughed and cried and been able to look at myself in the mirror and selfies and enjoy what I look like. I've felt more comfortable with my body, and worn outfits and accessories that I've been daydreaming about for over a decade. I've felt pretty, which was not something that I thought was possible.
If you're on the fence about transitioning, please know that it's enough to chase joy. If you think you'd be happier, that's enough. You don't have to have known since you were a toddler. You don't have to be so depressed that you can't bear another day as your AGAB. You don't have to "earn" or "deserve" to transition. It's enough to want it.
