Jon (who was raised as a prince in this AU) is trying to “unmask” Sansa because he’s Sam’s best friend and he doesn’t think her feelings are genuine.

(also i then made myself laugh again jon finding out he gave sansa the ick and contemplating suicide)

Yes!! I will be sticking to weekly updates once I start posting again (which I plan to do once the next 5 chapters are done).

i’ve decided to cut a big scene in chapter 14, which was originally supposed to happen in chapter 11, where sansa is at a party, gets high, calls jon, and confesses her feelings. i loved writing that scene, but the further i get into act iii of this fic, the less it fits sansa’s character development.

a couple of you read that version a few months ago. in my latest draft, the scene had changed and was in chapter 14, but instead of sansa getting high and confessing her feelings, she gets drunk at a party, calls jon, and tells him about what happened with joffrey and petyr. as i’m rereading it though, it just doesn’t fit the fic anymore. sansa is in a much better place by this point (january) than she was last summer and having her only confess these things because she’s drunk or high feels like a cop-out.

writing angst and conflict is so much easier for me than writing recovery and reconciliation, and this fic has reached that stage now, so it’s been difficult to find the right balance. an earlier outline had sansa and jon getting back together by chapter 12, but then i had to slow it down. now it somehow feels both too slow and too fast. i’m writing sansa as someone who has been through trauma, and i hate the narrative that trauma survivors can only find love or happiness once they’re 100% healed, but i also worry that the relationship may feel like it’s moving too quickly.
