WIP, been redrawing NPC portraits for my game. I like the sketchy vibe, haha.

and here's a short video showing the current stage of player animations. i recently changed the way i handle animation changes, so that i can easily add transitions, buuuut those transitions need to get drawn first...

WIP had this idea to use a "hagstone" for a weather / time HUD, the flowers change per season!

So, i like to scroll pinterest (photos) when i'm looking for inspiration or references. It started a few years back and i have to admit that it's not that fun anymore, since it's filled with genAI stuff, but old habits don't break easy (or something like that)

I came across a photo manipulation of a young girl covering her eyes and a bunch of arms coming out of her back. Here's a quick sketch i took:

While sketching i thought of the monster from pans labyrinth with eyes in his hands, you know, this guy:

I hated that guy, because he was so creepy with his eye-hands and movement and i wanted to incorporate that creepiness in my design, so eye-hands she got.

I ended up sketching a few potential designs, which brings us to the current state:

Since she's going to be a boss (maybe second form), i gave her a crown and a royal staff and continued with the eyeball theme: - the staff gets an eyeball - the hem of her dress turns into some smokey-goo stuff with, you guessed it, eyeballs coming out of it.

My game will have these critters you can tame after defeating their boss. They help out at the farm or produce rare resources (depending on their type).

i love them, but i did not think this through:

1. I have a mild spider / bug phobia. 2. I have to look at spiders / bugs for animation references for their walk cycles... :(

Let's just say that artist me is pretty annoyed by art director me, haha
