i didn't even realise that yesterday's nosebleed was posted right after we're introduced to that shadow figure, that's very interesting! i ponder a lot about the frequent hauntings salem experiences & their connection to her dreams, but then i recall the episode the visitor, if that's the correct title, where squissy encounters something ghostly. that means it may not only be salem these spirits are following, but i'd like to know your thoughts.

{also genuinely curious about your deal with the clown job episode}

Thank you! Heavens above, that list was so much work but I'm proud of it honestly.

And yes The Visitor and its followup The unexpected Visitor both show Squissy directly interacting with spirits – those being the statue and the creepy 🦷 fairy, – Salem herself wouldn't come face-to-face with any paranormal being until Does Paper Cut Deep?.

All of these plus Static Haze (with the haunted TV) make me believe it's the house itself that's being haunted. There is blind-spot with this hypothesis and coincidentally it's from Clown Job. In it Squissy calls Salem to know how she's doing, later Salem would bring Creature to the same room The Visitor took place in. Seeing how bored Squissy was, wouldn't it make sense for her to show-up during Salem's juggling act? Or at least ask anything of her? That is assuming that room and the kitchen take place in the same house. We have seen both girls in both places at least once. Maybe it's a big house and there's a back entrance, I can see Salem sneaking in with a "client" of hers, which brings me to my deal with the episode.

Why I didn't like it? Two reasons: Firstly I've a distaste for that profession, I'm not against those who engage in it, you do what you need to do to survive. I just find it awful someone has to go to those lengths. I'd rather not imagine Salem in that situation. Maybe I'm too sensitive I admit. Secondly I expected to see new characters in it, the blonde guy and old man geoh3x showed in his twitter profile, I liked their design and they seemed part of a lengthier, more complex episode.

It's not all bad though, we got to see salted_pearls and VoidedCastor reprise their roles as voice-actresses, and they're good at it mind you. Also we saw Pierrot Salem do some actual 🤡 activities, I wonder how difficult it was animating that juggling.

The episode wasn't a bad one, I just expected more from this New Year's release.

did you notice that the dark figure that appears behind the tv in the fish channel episode is the same as the one salem discovers in the second part of dream of rigor mørtis? or at least i believe so. i also find it interesting how this figure who seemed to provide salem with some sort of warning happened to appear just before something strange occurred in reality. i almost get the sense that it's testing her, or that it's there to warn her

You're definitely correct in that the same dark figure appears in both "The Fish Channel" and "Dream of Rigor Mørtis pt2"

I don't know for certain whom this idol is but I suspect it might have been the head shown Nevermind that! In this instagram post – I hope it links correctly – geoh3x posted an angel shaped puppet, seemingly unfinished, and the description in that Instagram post is:

This might be a reach, depending on how developed the setting is, but this idol might be an important figure in the other world we often see Pierrot!Salem in.

You writing how the dark figure might have been warning Salem, led me to the release list I had made. "Dream of Mørtis pt2" was released almost directly before "Yesterday's Nosebleed" and "Cats do this sometimes" both featuring Salem in paranormal situations in the house.

As for what the dark figure wants with Salem. I suspect a warning, but/also keeping tabs on her. It showed up from behind the TV to stare at her, seemingly too obvious, but perhaps there was nowhere else to show-up from? Perhaps the intention was for Salem to see him?

Estimate date for series

Ceteris paribus. The series takes place around 28th October, 1999; the date of release for Nocturne game above.

Corroborating this, there are other technologies present in Static Haze which suggest a 90s settings:

The second picture was drawn by Louis Wain, the famed Victorian artist who really liked cats.

Looking at these I wonder who of the three pinned what. I think Creature drew and pinned the drawings, Squissy the cat pics and Salem the skull and laboratory table - 3rd pic, can't really make out what it's supposed to be...

I'm currently working on an analysis of the devices present in the series, figured I'd take the chance and get the photos in the fridge - which is a Whirlpool.

Salem's model change

Salem is one of the most iconic characters among Geoh3x's cast. She was first introduced in the image "Happy Halloween" on the 30th of October 2022 ↑_(ΦwΦ;)Ψ

(Yes I know it's a video on Tiktok, but it's a still picture being "played" for 10 seconds.)

Compared to her current incarnation the first iteration of Salem, or Witch Salem – yes I'm calling her Witch Salem – has a few physical differences:

Simpler hair, less textured and with a flatter color

Eyebrows arch, instead of being straight

More pronounced eyeliner

Less pronounced eye-bags

Nose is less defined, but this is a small difference

Always wore shorts and fishnet

Aside from this she also showed a greater association with the arcane. She was frequently shown reading an occult book "Apella," was introduced during Halloween (see above) and most poignantly this was how her name was first revealed on Instagram, 💀 and 🔥.

Her new model was introduced on the 3rd of July 2023, in the video Morning Cup of Death – the Newgrounds video was uploaded on a later date than other ones). This animation is imo one of the most important thresholds by Geoh3x, it introduces a new model for Salem, the house where a lot of his future works will take place in, and a turn towards more dynamic and longer videos.

Fittingly this is also the last we see of Apella, the book Salem was once so fond of carrying around. I think it might have played a part in the house hauntings and hence Salem's insomnia, but that's for another post. A fitting end for it and Witch Salem, lying down next to its tired master.

Introduction

Geoh3x is an internet animator with a surreal style reminiscent of fifth-generation video games – Playstation, N64 and Sega Saturn. He releases his animations on Youtube, Instagram, and Newgrounds along with a presence on other websites.

With the impartial description done with. I found Geoh3x after he uploaded Fish Channel – possibly his most ambitious animation to-date – as I watched more of his videos I came to appreciate both his art and the universe it portrayed.

Not knowing of any blogs dedicated to his work, I decided to make my own. To share fanart, comment on his work and share mine or others theories of his universe.
