i wasted any energy i might have had on watching another hour long youtube video.. i havent done that in sooo long

i actually feel stimulated enough from exploring youtube (i basically am banned from youtube besides minecraft videos once in a while & music so theres still a novelty factor) that i might for real actually do something that takes focus and energy

sighh breaking bad habits and cleaning up / doing the dishes and eating a meal instead of not doing those things and wondering why im slowly dying (my typical situation)

wow gooseworx really was more online/involved in fandom bickering than i realized

#i think because i didnt gaf and only started keeping up when all her tweets were like absurdist ragebait #like i think ultimately trying to impart lessons or exercise control over a fanbase isnt going to really go anywhere #maybe it worked when her platform was smaller idk #thinking about old mutual who had to jump on a post just mentioning gooseworx to start flaming her like OMG #can i not just talk about people i dont know without making performative value judgements #but yeah i do find her interesting/sympathetic/entertaining as a persona/creator still i cant say im any better #wrt i guess.. maybe making misguided attempts at interfacing with stuff that might be better left alone #it feels like you kind of dont have any options a lot of the time than to face stuff headon

also one thing i do think is interesting and worth keeping tabs on is the gender politics of fandom have definitely evolved a lot . personally i like seeing more interesing m/f stuff a lot im glad da circus can provide this

instead of analyzing my life and ideals/goals (kind of stupid) im thinking about the modern internet/fanculture and how i kind of need to stop hating on it just beause im an adult and it doesnt cater to me any longer. but it also kind of feels like this nowadays

like. the stuff i liked then and still like now has an unpolished quality that lends stuff a sincerity to it that ends up feeling inspiring, like i could make stuff too, and the roughness around the edges also tended to make things more interesting or unique (like half baked premises, unclear marketing, strange art, bad singing, etc). now anything that gets any kind of traction has this massive tryhard energy that i have to look past to see any value lol

like... it would be fine if the increase in standard of aesthetic polish / budget / production lead to an increase in overall quality... but shit is just as derivative and halfbaked as before, it just makes it more frustrating when something is hyped up and inevitably you realize its cynical engagementbait garbage. of course the algorithmification adding an artificial/forced feeling to trends does not help either
