Butterfly Ball

I almost forgot to post the drawing for JMB week ! That would have been a shame because I had lots of fun drawing this.

The song is a children song here in France, the kind where you need to find a word of expression starting with the last sound of the last word. (Trois p'tits chats => chapeau d'paille => Paillasson etc...). I don't know, it just popped in my head.

Happy Barricade Day where everyone is happy and no one is dead ! That was fun to draw and a bit simpler than last year... agh agh agh. Bringing the Pride Banner and the Pride Flags Umbrella back !

Serwyn & Osian :

The young Deer God (Osian on the right) and his Deer People protector (Serwyn on the left). They have to leave Deer Country for Reasons (Osian wanting to prove his worth and Serwyn wanting to / being assigned to protect him). Sadly, the world is dangerous for Deer People, and Serwyn gets shot while in deer form. They are forced to join the people who shot him (it was an accident), discover that they are a weird little bunch of happy musicians and assorted jugglers and the like, and that this life is quite fun. Problem : Serwyn wants to protect Osian from everything that would like to take a bite out of him, but the group is full of predators !! Predators full of teeth !! How will he deal ! (Osian is awfully stressed at first but he soon realizes that no one really wants to bite him except for fun. Serwyn will need a lot of pats and herbal tee to relax.) (Serwyn will get better.)

Siegfried :

Siegfried is a fire-breathing dragon. Well a small, tiny, cuddly dragon who likes to play firedancer with the group rather than hoard a treasure and asks for sacrifices. He's also fascinated by all those new people, especially the one with long, golden hair, because golden means for dragons, so he's allowed to play with it, so there. (it will take a lot of work to convince Serwyn to allow him because hands off, you predator !) (Siggy ain't no predator. Siggy is a lapcat with wings.)

Newari :

Newari is a snake-based merman (a vouivre). He has a jewel on his forehead and slit pupils that he kind of passes off as his outfit. Without a lot of effort, because he doesn't really care, and he's big and tall enough to bite anyone who would disagree. He plays the mandoloncelle, which is a big mandolin, because he's a big snake. Also he loves taking naps and warm baths and generally being a snake. (His animal pattern is so cleverly hidden, he's proud of himself.)

Solveig :

The cool old lady that every group needs ! She's seen everything, knows a lot of things and also has a ton of stories to tell around the campfire. She's also almost secretly a werewolf. She's not really hiding it, but since she smokes up a storm, no one can guess or smell the magic, not even Newari. He's probably the most surprised when she finally reveals the truth. Solveig is not impressed. She turns into a werewolf by wearing a magic wolf cape, but it has a time limit, she has to turn into a wolf regularly or she loses control. And then she eats squirrels. She doesn't find it very funny.

Andromède :

The first dancer. She's built like a tank, she can lift and carry everyone in the group, and she gives the most impressive bone crushing hugs. It's a rite of passage in the group to be able to survive her hugs, and she loves giving them. She also loves cute things and is very partial to keeping the Deers, because they are cute and nice. She's also a very skilled hunter who does nothing but shoot deers who didn't do anything to deserve that. (Osian may be a little bit partial.)

Valmy :

Valmy comes from a family of small noblesse and didn't have any hope in inheriting the title because of a slew of older brothers. His parents were disappointed because he wasn't a girl to marry off, so he decided to disappoint the family even more and became a dancer. He doesn't mind the costumes, even with the skirt (Andromède didn't want to design another outfit). He still retains a lot of his good education, including with the washing. He's very insistant on good washing and clean clothes.

Astrée :

The third dancer. She's the most discreet of all the group, due to a strict education. She was raised as a proper woman and spouse, which doesn't explain how she became a dancer in a troup, and she doesn't talk about it, even when prompted. But being quiet and nice and polite allows her to tame even the most scared deers. She also likes spending time with Mati because Mati always does and says things that are fascinating.

Mati : the Swiss Army knife of the group. She can build, fix, mix, analyse and treat everything, always linking it to what her parents taught her. She's been raised inside a University of Sciences because her parents mixed it with the temple when leaving her on the steps in a basket. She learned every science because everyone wanted to teach her their field. She has the biggest crush on Astrée and she doesn't know how to tell her, so she asks everyone for advice. Leading, of course, to disaster.

Vadim : A nice man of few words. He's a baker who wants to change towns and joined the group because travelling alone is dangerous, and it's a merry bunch with a lot of interesting personnalities. He pays for his travel by baking tons of bread and cakes and croissants and the like, and by helping moving heavy things around. He likes to just hang around and listen to the music and stories around the campfire.

Maikka : The regning intendant of the place. She rules the place with an iron fist and an ironer laddle. Cursed be the one who will try to take some food without her express permission ! The laddle will deal the punishment ! She's also extremely well organized and leaves nothing to chance. And she volunteered Valmy as a secretary because he has a nice writing and he didn't resist. (He doesn't dare.) She loves those idiots to death, and she will make them happy and healthy, by iron laddle if necessary.
