Drags myself towards my computer. I just got off of a week of travel but the allure of spreadsheets beckons.
We had a considerable number of new fandoms this month, to the point that I'm not sure I found them all! If you know of any that I missed, please let me know. I found ten newly canonized fandoms this month— two that I had been keeping an eye on, and a bunch of ones I knew nothing about! Those fandoms are, Minecraft ARG but the protagonist only think about "ships" - Turr1t0ps1s (Short Film), Soul Hunt SMP, Ouroboros Protocol SMP, YFL SMP Series, Mace SMP, Haunted Winter SMP, Heartless Horizon (Web Series), Wisp SMP, Decayed and Decrepit (Web Series), and Something is Knocking at Your Door - ThatMob (Web Series).
Bliss SMP and Freak Show both made the jump over the 200 fic mark!
Fics are still primarily in english, but several fandoms also feature fics in spanish. In the list of fandoms with significant spanish-language fics, Karmaland shows 952 of 117 are in spanish, an increase of 1 fic from last month's 951, Tortillaland shows 199 of 211 are in spanish, an increase of 7 fics from last month's 192 (almost the entire increase in the fandom), and QSMP shows 2,042 of 14,876 are in spanish— with an increase of 141 spanish fics from last month's 1,901, many of our smaller and even mid-size fandoms saw less fics in all languages than the QSMP's spanish-language jump, which was 24% of the new fics in the fandom once again. Of Chafaland's 19 fics, 7 are in spanish, one up from 6 last month, and of Fuga Impossível's 126 fics, 12 are in spanish, the same as last month.
When it comes to other languages, QSMP shows 65 works in French, the same as last month, 926 works in Brazilian Portuguese, four up from last month's 922, and 15 works in Polish, up 3 from last month's 12. Arkanis SMP also has a considerable percentage of non-english fics, with 19 fics of 85 in Brazilian Portuguese, a decrease of 2 from last month's 21, and Fuga Impossível shows 9 works of 125 in Brazilian Portuguese, up one from 8 last month. One of our new fandoms shows several fics not in english, as YFL SMP Series show 16 of 19 in polish.
In the smaller fandoms, the standout was a new fandom, Heartless Horizon. They showed an increase of 25 fics, or 21% of the fandom being posted in the last month! Our other higher fandom has been around for much longer, as Cowboy smp had an increase of 11 fics!
We had another crown taken by a new fandom in mid-size fandoms, as Something is Knocking at Your Door - ThatMob (Web Series), had 90.5% of the fandom posted in the last month. They posted 486 fics in the last month! Our second place was one that's been strong for a number months now, as Flight SMP posted 158 new fics.
In larger fandoms we had a number of fandoms that were fairly similar to last month. QSMP's 576 was up from last month's 511, Life Series 371 was not that far down from last month's 415, Hermitcraft's 418 was a decrease but not too far from 490, Life series 371 was down but not too much from 415, Lifesteal's 218 was very close to last month's 215, and vampires 293 was just a touch up from last month's 269. SFWATDE followed a month of decline by dropping form 516 to 336, and Unstable Universe was our standout fandom with 1,087 fics, down from last month's 1,347 but still far and away in advance of anything else.
The overall fandom as seen through Video Blogging showed an increase of 5,053, up from last month's 4,990 and last year's 3,274. A good month for minecraft!
