Verity Willis

Yelena was not entirely convinced that Verity was okay, but she was talking and responding and looking for a logical explanation to this, so she was at least not that much in shock. She looked back at the corpse and started to look through his pockets. "He panicked. He sense we were getting close to whatever he was trying to keep from you." nothing in the left, she went to the right. " And so he went for you, in an attempt to keep you quiet. Sorry wasn't quick enough, that table got in the way." she joked. "HA..." she put out a keychain.

Clint raised his eyebrow a bit and leaned in as he watched her body lean towards him as well. Her "secret" wasn't exactly a secret. He was pretty sure he heard something similar from Tony, Nat, Kate, Bobbi and Wanda at one point or another. Still, it made him laugh under his breath. "Alright, alright, I get it. Can you blame someone who's been manipulated and brainwashed a few too many times for being a little guarded?"

So she looked like a menace? That was new. But honestly, Verity wasn't quite sure of what she was supposed to reply to that. It was just sad to hear because of the truth of it. So she shrugged before replying. "Probably not, but I wasn't blaming you, just sharing facts, kinda. Anyway... you said you wanted to talk, sooo... did you have any subjects in mind?" He was maybe a little guarded, but Verity wasn't stupid, not believing he was there only for a small talk.

"I have no need to go there, or meddle in Asgardian business. As long as it's not a problem to Earth's safety. I think by standing with his brother during the attacks, he made amends for the damage done to NY in 2012 ... water under the bridge, let's say. " He looked at his watch, having received a message. "Well Miss Willis, this is all the time I can give you. You are welcome to stay until the next departure to Earth." He extended his hand .

Uh, so even Tony Stark was amending him? Too bad the current Loki couldn't do the same. Still drinking her coffee, Verity reacted when the man extended his hand. "Yeah sure, have fun handling space and everything. Until next time Director Stark." She said while shaking his hand, not overextending the time of this interaction. Thanks to the past missions and everything, because the first handshake was a big fail the lady was still trying to forget.

"Sure...after you. " He followed until they arrived in a resting area, benches, some plants, a big window into space. He sat down and slurped on his beverage. "My expectations were to find an absence of things: of life, of air , of everything we have on Earth. But actually, space has more life than one might think. Or maybe I prefer space to Earth. " he admitted. "My husband would say space made me a philosopher. And you ?"

Verity was staring at the void while listening to the man, sharing glances here and then. "I don't think I was expecting much, I was used to hate space, but only because of all the media narrating it. Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Galactica... all this crap. But now that I see it's really... I do like it, it sounds... better." She shared before drinking some of her latte. "Is your husband also on the Peak? Or are you like those sailors guys, leaving for months to explore the sea?"

"Don't worry too much. You're a clever girl, you learn fast to adapt to whoever is talking, just do what they ask you to do. I mean , I wouldn't approach that castle from a mile away, I've learned my lesson fir your bestie over 12 years ago. "

The compliments were nice to hear, but the point about the castle was better and made her smile. "An advice for advice. I would suggest you still avoid the area, the guard dog is quite territorial." She shared with a bit of mischief but avoided Loki's subject, not sure it was best to share his current condition with someone like Tony Stark.

"Or what ?" he asked, not in a threatening matter. "What are you going ...what are you willing to do to safe yourself ? " he asked in almost a whisper. "what type of woman are you Verity Willis ...not one to beg for mercy that much I know...flight or flee...hit or run...would you kill to save yourself ? Would you act crazy to save yourself ? At the brink of your demise, what would you do to hold on to your precious life and not cause the deep pain of loss for anyone loving you..." he smiled and took a step back. "Now those questions make you know a person in front of you... and measure their worth. " he became dramatic. " Death be not proud, though some have called thee" he spoke getting away from her. " Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not soe, " he made a dramatic pause and lifted a finger towards her. "For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow, " he reached the door and put a hand on the wall. "Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill mee. " he finished with a smile. His education was still there, knowing that poem from John Donne, and maybe, just maybe, he was telling more than just a poem, a message hidden, maybe to scare, or maybe to show something else. One or the other, he left her be and left the room.

A former frostgeant getting a cold, that was quite ironic. "Jeez man.." She reacted before letting go a sigh, dropping her hand. "Don't worry about me, when I get sick, it only stays a day or so, it's fine." 'Because I know a sorcerer, very good with healing spells, your wife actually' thought Verity, without sharing it. "However, you, my friend, you need some help. Did you take anything already? Any drugs?"

Harry stayed but inches from her face. "Who is the liar now" he whispered then smiled. "Maybe...I enjoy it your little twitchy behaviour, that's for sure. " He paused. "Such pretty eyes ... but you don't need them to tell a lie apart from a truth, right ? "

Don't flinch, don't flinch, don't flinch, your housemate is a wolf god devourer of worlds, don't flinch. She tried to pep talk herself, while this jerk was way too close, saying disturbing stuff. "Uh..." Could anyone save her from this interaction? Nope, probably not. "Okay, it's working..." She confessed after a silence, having some difficulty to look at him in the eyes. She could feel her anger rising, just next to the fear already there. "Now step back." She tried, using this anger to face this moron, even if her words sounded less confident than what she wanted.

"Oh I wasn't talking about a trial. Blackmail, threats towards your loved ones, pressuring you into doing morally wrong things. Gaslighting you, that's more of what I was talking about. " For Tony, those things were his life, even as a CEO. Sharks eating sharks. "Well, at least some things never change, kuddos NY."

Verity froze for a long second hearing all of that stuff, thinking about her family, the few people she really liked, how not ready she was for that kind of stuff. "... Great." She finally acknowledged before thinking about all of that, again.

Harry came close. "Do I make you nervous Miss Verity ? " he smiled. "Thank you very, very, much for your work. " He stared at her. "Don 't worry , I won 't hurt you unless you fuck me over"

Verity cocked an eyebrow. "I’m fine." Alright, this was a lie, but mostly because her answer was covering too many things at the same time. Right? A bit spooked but more confused than anything, despite the rumors and how he presented himself, Verity couldn’t tell if the man was acting like a jerk or just being a clumsy psychopath. At least, she mentally thanked the Norse gods for accommodating her with this kind of disturbing sentence. "Cool. Cool, cool, cool. Are you… trying to make me nervous?"

Clint chuckled under his breath as he shook his head. "I mean, you can ask whatever you want. You can ask how I am and I'll probably come up with some wild non-answer answer that might lead to further questions, but if you want to ask, you can ask, although I don't know why asking how I'm doing is anything you're curious about."

Seriously? Verity felt almost offended by this reply. "Jeez man." She chuckled a bit before letting out a deep sigh. "Let me share with you a secret." She leaned closer a bit. "People can care about you and your well-being. And somehow I might be one of those people." She said with a lower voice before leaning back to the back of her seat. "Crazy I know."
