Many of the roads in #Iceland's interior pass through enormous lava fields, as seen at this intersection on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Aside from some moss, these lava fields are mostly barren of vegetation. (at Snæfellsjökull National Park)

The black church in Budir is the oldest wooden church in #Iceland, originally constructed in 1703. Then, as with most "oldest adjective" buildings, it was replaced, rebuilt, and renovated up through 20th century. So you could probably find another wooden church in Iceland constructed from some really, really old wood. (at Búðir)
