Hey, uh, Kitty? Have you seen Lily yet? I know Mike said she wasn't with Marley, but I thought maybe she ended up with you or something.

Are you sure? She didn’t say anything about where she was going or when she might be back? I’m really starting to worry.

I wouldn't lie about that. No, I don't talk to anyone when I am thinking about shopping for books. I like to the shop and my Papa showers me in money. So, I take that opportunity to spend, spend, spend.

[Ryder frowned, not sure if there was anything he could say to make her feel better about the situation. He tried to understand why Marley had started crying, but he couldn’t grasp it completely. Maybe he was missing another piece here that Kitty wasn’t telling him, but to him it just seemed like Marley had been upset about almost everything that night.] "Maybe she was just upset about a lot of stuff and it all got bunched into one? That happens to me sometimes. I’m sorry she hurt your feelings, though." [Again Ryder’s words felt lame to him, and he worked a nervous groove into his lower lip with his teeth as he waited for Kitty to explain herself more.] "So…being in Ravenclaw was a good thing, right? Or did you wish that you were in Slytherin instead?" [He thought back to his own first night in his house, and how people like Finn and Lily and Brittany and Sam had all done a good job of making him feel welcomed and like he fit in. Had that been Marley for her? If that was the case, Ryder couldn’t fathom why Kitty had started trying to make his other friend feel so bad. Clearly she felt awful about what she’d done, and Ryder wondered if this was another time when he should reach out and hug her, but she seemed to be huddling into herself again and Ryder didn’t want to push Kitty past her comfort zone. Not when she’d clearly never talked to anyone about all the stuff she’d been keeping bottled up inside.] "So… so did you want to make Marley feel lousy because you felt lousy? I’m sorry, Kitty, I’m not - I’m not trying to judge you or anything like that, I’m just trying to understand. My brain doesn’t work the same way as yours, so I don’t…I can’t quite follow everything. How would Marley ruin you? That’s not the way she is; she likes to make other people happy. You’re not useless or worthless, okay? You’re just… it seems like you’ve got a lot in your head you haven’t gotten to talk to anyone about before, but I’ll totally be your listener for as long as you need me."

[Settling back, she raised her eyebrows and nodded though her head continued to spin. Everything felt extremely stressed to her, the tension accumulating in a certain area in her head. The feeling itself was brought on by numerous things. Heavy emotions as well as the weight of what she was doing, pushing through the walls that normally enclosed her. Keeping close to the warmth of the boy’s body, she let it comfort her. Chase the demons from her mind, and it worked, they fled.] “It’s okay, I am pretty sure I deserved it at some point…You know, but I am not a monster.” [Taking another look up, she nodded, breathing out. A pained expression coated her face as he asked if she wanted to be in Slytherin. It would be easier, to be in Slytherin. Ultimately she  was placed in the correct house. She watched his eyes wander of as he thought into what she had said, but the words he kept muttering made no sense. ] “No, I didn’t “ [She responded, head lowering as she let her hands comfort her head as it fell forward in defeat. Utterly over trying to explain herself when she was unable to come to terms with the reasons ‘why’ she had needed to make Marley feel like the worst person in the world. Perhaps it was so Marley would never see how amazing she was. Yet, that would make her reasons be due to wanting the girl never to see her jealousy. After a few moments, her head raised and she tilted it to the side her blonde hair floating down the side of her shoulder as she analysed the dark orbs of the man. He was warm towards her, not attacking her at all and with a sharp breath. She nodded.] “I know, peoples brains work differently. It’s just that, Marley has the potential to ruin me, not that she ever would.”

Of course I’m interested but I would only ask you about it if you were willing to share it with me, I wouldn’t pester you for an answer because I know some people aren’t that open. That word? You could be a lot of things. You are a lot of things actually. You’re smart, resourceful, talented. The list is endless and bad things definitely don’t outweigh the good in you, Kitty Wilde.
