First 5k of the year with the fam. And it's raining. Will be #running at our 8yo's pace. We've got this, lol.

Channeling our inner #Hundertwasser. I'm a little behind in posting. These paintings were from 2 weeks ago. I had my K-2 kids pick warm or cool colors for their backgrounds and pick the other for their trees. I just love how fearless kids are when it comes to that empty, white paper. They just jump right in. This took them 40 minutes tops. It'd probably take me 2 hours to do the same painting, lol. #dontthinkjustgo #artforkids #kidsart

Our Matisse-inspired sculptures worked!!! Lol. Since my class consisted of K-2 kids, no one wanted to pop nor hear the balloons pop, lol. So I showed them a "magic" trick, by poking a safety pin through the balloon where there's clear tape. The kids got a kick out of that, wondering why the balloons didn't pop and watching their balloons shrink. The kids started wearing their sculptures as hats, lol. Overall I'm happy with how they turned out. However, next time, instead of painting the glue/water mixture onto shapes on the balloons, I'll just have the kids put glue directly on the shapes and stick the shapes on the balloon. Some of the shapes were coming off. It was just more fun to "paint" on balloons. :) #artclass #kidsart #artforkids #Matisse

I must admit that I was reluctant to run this race. I didn't get to train at all (well, life you know....). When my heart is not in a race/run it usually does not go well. But something about the marines, standing solemnly during the national anthem, feeling the energy from all the runners, and running in the woods...it makes your heart swell, it clears the sinuses, clears the mind, clears the cobwebs, rejuvenates the soul. It was a hard run for me, but I came out of the woods looking forward to training in the heat, to GU, to gatorade, to all the carbs. Here's to my #5 @marinecorpsmarathon #runwiththemarines. I. Can't. Day 1 of my K-2 after school art class!!! Had to bring back an old favorite among the kids. #DaleChihuly inspired Macchia Bowls. Loved how some of them looked like flowers.

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday today, we had a Dress As Your Favorite Book Character Day at our school! I dressed up as Cho Chang from Harry Potter book series, but since not a lot of kids know Cho Chang, I settled for Hermione instead. :P :)
