Decades out of Mandos, too many things in Fëanor’s life remain broken. He can’t do anything except wait for his sons to come to him, but he can do something about the old and crumbling house where they once lived.

I was in a shop where someone was clearly watching the two towers in the background and I recognised it by sound alone after 2 seconds which makes me sound insane to an average person. and I could actually explain it very easily but of course trying to explain it with "well I only recognised it so fast because this specific version of the lorien theme only plays during the battle at helm's deep" does nothing to make me sound less insane

Maglor returns to Valinor much changed and no one is surprised. After such a long time alone, at the mercy of the sand and wind and harsh sunlight, it is a miracle he still breathes. But all the new changes make Curufin’s heart ache. He watches Maglor and makes a list of everything now wrong: the unsteady hands, the cane required to walk, the streaks of white within his hair, the damage done to his eyes.
Such changes do not stop Maglor’s family from loving him. Maedhros gently braids Maglor’s hair, weaving in silver ribbons, and Celegorm brings him to the horses so that Maglor can pet their warm flanks. Caranthir makes soft blanket after blanket until Maglor is all but lost beneath them, and the Ambarussa spend hours cheering Maglor up with the silliest gossip they can find. Curufin -
Well. Curufin, as he always does when there is a problem to solve, goes to the forge.
It is an off-handed comment from his son that gives Curufin the idea. Within a story about mortals in Eregion, Celebrimbor mentions their use of ‘reading stones’: polished crystal lenses that could be slid across a page and used to magnify the words beneath. Curufin takes that as a starting point, making dozens of sketches before constructing a prototype and threatening the glassmaking guild into giving him the supplies he needs.
When his creation is done, he brings it to Maglor. “Here,” says Curufin, carefully placing it on his face. “Try this.”
Maglor blinks. His eyes have gone wide and the wire frames around them, circular and holding thin lenses made of enchanted glass, give him the appearance of a startled owl.
“Curvo,” he says, and the smile on his face is worth all the days of hard work. “I can see you!”

Ryn’s tail is still steadily drumming a bruise into Maedhros’ leg, not made any better by how he keeps scratching at her back. “Forge accident,” Celebrimbor says, and his tone of voice makes Maedhros pause and look up. “Uncle…what is that in your arms?” “Oh no, Tyelko, you didn’t,” Fingon says as Maedhros, something prickling across the back of his neck, sits up and turns to see Celegorm standing behind him. He looks the same as ever, windswept and tanned from endless riding out beneath the sun. He’s grinning, and his arms are cradling something wrapped loosely in a blanket. As Maedhros watches the blanket moves, and then a tuft of fur peeks out from within.
