Okay, so I didn't know about the situation regarding racism (towards black people specifically) in the Vocaloid community until recently (as I typically don't tend to interact as much with it), but I feel like I have to talk about it specifically because a lot of my moots/followers are in the Vocaloid community. To briefly explain, a creator named slayr made a song (called Keep Me Going) that mixed BIRDBRAIN by JamieP, and let's say.... it got a lot of racist comments, such as "this is the only gangster rap that i'll listen to!" and "now THIS is the black people music i love." Comments like these caused the song to be taken from slayr's setlist (not removed like some people are saying, the song is still there luckily), and for Jamie Paige herself to speak up about this (along with SAWTOWNE explicitly saying that, yes, he is black). Racism has been a huge problem in the Vocaloid community in general, yes, but it really shouldn't be. Vocaloid, as a genre, is supposed to include all types of music that can be created with the software. It's supposed to encourage creations from diverse genres, and to see something like this happen is mortifying.

The point that I'm trying to get at here is that if you're weird/racist towards black creators or black people in general, block me and get the fuck out. Because black people have helped shape the music you, yes, you listen to today, and to see them shamed like this is unacceptable. I encourage you to look at this post and the reblogs such as the ones from juicelooped and vivid-bad-bread. Them and this post drove me to make this one.

And yes, I know a lot of people have been talking about this lately, but the more people that talk about it, the better. Acknowledgement is a step towards changing all of this, and yes, I will keep drilling into the fact that we all need to stop being racist towards black creators.

If I do come off as racist at any time, LET ME KNOW! I'm going to be clear here in that I wouldn't intentionally be racist at any time, but even I'm blind to my own actions sometimes. I know, even if I am a POC, I don't have an immunity to racism.

1. We introduced the term “endogenic” into the community August 2014, along with some other terms! It was in response to exclusionists (wrongly) complaining about “systems without DID” using “their words”. It was an attempt at creating nonmedicalized terms that any plural system could use. 

2. It was also a way to do away with terms that had fallen into disfavor— specifically “natural systems”, a term that had been in use possibly as early as 1994. It was disliked because people felt it implied that trauma-caused systems were unnatural. “Endogenic” fixed that. 

3. The word “endogenic” was lovingly created to help systems put their experience into words. All it means is “a system not formed by trauma”; it doesn’t imply any other cause, set of beliefs, or experiences. It doesn’t imply the system is nondisordered or doesn’t have trauma. It doesn’t mean any other system’s origins in trauma or dx status is “invalid” or whatever.

4. Though the terms were eventually posted to tumblr, the idea didn’t start there. Tumblr was created in 2007; the concept of systems not caused by trauma has, again, been online since the 90s. Nor was the term created by singlets! We’re a trauma-caused system with DID. 

5. “Endogenic” wasn’t created as an insult or to exclude anyone. We have loved ones who are endogenic. Many of the terms in use now were created by endogenics. They have helped preserve plural history, and defended the community. They are good people, and real systems. The hate they get is completely senseless.
