simply living

We live in a cottage on a bluff looking over an ocean. The house is surrounded by wildflowers and we fall asleep listening to the sound of waves crashing. There’s a tiny garden behind the house where I grow vegetables for stew and you grow pears for pies. Every night we fall asleep in one another’s arms, and I wake up early so I can make you coffee and play with your hair. I have a room with big windows that are always open; it smells like paint and ink. You have a library filled with hundreds of books, so many I think you’ll never be able to read them all—but you will. When the weather’s nice we go down to the beach and spend hours in the sun, drinking tea and reading, being happy. When it’s raining we stay in bed, holding one another, the stress is gone.
