Do you guys want to hear my pitch for a white collar episode? Of course you do here it is. The actual case takes like the first 5 minutes and involves Neal having to seduce a man. It goes off without a hitch- actually, it goes so smoothly that Peter concludes Neal is hiding his bisexuality and starts dropping increasingly contrived hints that this is a safe space to come out. He's not very good at it, though. In fact, he's so bad at it that Neal picks up on him acting weird and concludes that the inevitable has happened- Peter has finally developed a crush on him. Cue miscommunications of Shakespearian proportions as Peter grows increasingly distressed that Neal feels like he needs to hide this and Neal grows increasingly frantic trying to let him down gently. They both separately confide in El, who figures out exactly what happened halfway through the episode, laughs till she cries, and doesn't tell a soul

The reason Neal and Peter's dynamic in White Collar works so well is because they respect each other. Lesser writers and actors would have written/played Peter as viewing Neal as just another criminal and Neal seeing Peter as just another cop, and it just wouldn't have worked. Peter respects what Neal can do, and as far as Neal is concerned Peter is a worthy opponent, possibly his only worthy opponent, hes not just the agent who caught him, hes the only one who could have. And thats the beautiful thing about the show

The beginning of season 4 is really funny from Collins perspective. Like ok you're a ruthless bounty hunter type tasked with retrieving a recently escaped convicted conman. So far it's Tuesday. You ask the last FBI agent who caught said conman (twice!) what you need to know about him. He refuses to tell you anything useful but gets a far away look in his eye when talking about him. You've never been homophobic before but you think it might be time to start. Ok whatever you pursue your conman to the remote island where he's hiding out. The agent gets put on leave and follows you there?? He's underfoot every time you turn around and some of the shit he's pulling to protect this guy is definitely illegal, not that you're one to talk, it's just weird. You're not really sure what's going on between him and the conman but they're invested in one another to a kind of unhinged degree. You learn they've only been apart for six weeks. You're definitely considering the merits of homophobia. THEN they make the arrest of a lifetime and offer to frame it as YOUR WORK!! You say to the agent ok you probably want shared credit huh. He says no I want to be handcuffed to my favorite criminal again. You ask the favorite criminal if he wants like his freedom or something in exchange for this he says no I want to be handcuffed to my favorite cop again. You realize they're serious. You realize you hate them. You take the offer.

The biggest lesson of White Collar is that if your smart friend doesn't have a relationship with a relative, maybe there's a really good reason why, and you shouldn't talk them into giving their relative a chance because they seem apologetic.

Because, the thing is, the thing is, THE THING IS!! Neal admitted, right? He takes things he shouldn’t and doesn’t feel guilty about them at all. Laws and morality based around them can’t reach him, BUT. His THING, his thing that is always, ALWAYS a core component for him is protecting his ‘people’. He doesn’t do law or morals, but loyalty he does very well indeed (i know i know, roll with it i don’t have time to explain the intricacies) And so then?? It’s like he doesn’t really understand WHY he should feel guilty or bad about pulling a con, and he gets a thrill out of it, BUT he is willing to harness that addiction if that is what it takes to stay close to his people, right?? But THEN. Then his people all treat him as though all he’ll ever be is a criminal anyway and so it’s like. What. What’s the point. AGHSHDBFUEJDB. I’m not even getting my point across here but I am FEELING things
