It's rare to come across a project that appears to be a complete put-on, but is in fact very real, and even after you know it's real, it still seems like a put-on. And that's a compliment.

Lauren Woods has had some great video pieces @spelmanmuseum over the last few years. Last time I checked, I couldn't find a website that served as an archive for her work. Here's a news story about her latest installation, and a radio interview with her about the piece.

"The world has dorkified itself." - The Circle, Dave Eggers

In that youtube video you've already seen from 2008 of the guy dancing and lip-sync'ing to "Living on a Prayer" at the Garden, there are two clashing world-views in Row 9. On the right of the aisle, a balding guy in a gray sweater absolutely loves the idiocy of a guy dancing around the Garden while lip-sync'ing to "Living on a Prayer" - in fact, he loves it so much (and the fact that he's on the Jumbotron, too) that he almost displays more enthusiasm than the guy dancing; while on the left of the aisle in Row 9 is a big guy in green track pants and a blue "Just Do It" shirt, clutching his cell-phone, who clearly thinks the guy who dances around at the Garden while lip-sync'ing to "Living on a Prayer" is an idiot and mock-kicks him down the stairs. Kinda sums it all up. I'll take the guy on the right for my team every day of the week. (One of the best things is seeing the guy in the gray sweater make an early appearance in the video, on the way back to his seat, pausing in the aisle to see himself on the Jumbotron as the whole sequence begins.) (And bonus points to the guy on the left side of the aisle in row 3 who makes a timely "sign of the cross" to coincide with the lyrics, at 1min18sec.)

"You Better Pawn It Babe" - I saw that Dylan had made an "interactive video" and I thought ho hum until I clicked the channel and the guys in the pawn shop were lip-sync'ing about pawning.

"Leviathan" is incredible.
