On top of Killington. We went off trail up a steep section with the hope of getting a bowl of soup at the Killington ski lodge only to be told it was closed for a wedding! We ate our peanut butter and enjoyed a spectacular view.

Well fed and cleaned up we brought them back to the trail.

Remember the hikers we had met when we hiked the 100 miles up to Troutville? They took us up on our offer and called when they got to the Delaware Water Gap. We retrieved them, fed them and helped them meet their hiker needs. So nice to see them and talk trail.

Arriving in Dalesville 100 miles later we completed another piece of the trail. We have about 400 miles to do and we are official section hikers which is ok. Our adventure continues.

Jumpstart and I had pitched our tent on a level spot right next to the trail. We had only just enough water until we hiked further in the morning. Having just settled in we heard music coming from somewhere. Very strange out in the wilderness! A minute later two young men came hiking up the trail and spontaneously asked, "would you like some water?" We gratefully accepted. Before they continued we were serenaded. A lifetime memory.

New friend, Avalon, was hiking with 7 others. Jumpstart and I had been overlapping with them over the week. We invited them to call us when they got to NJ with the promise to retrieve them and give them a break at our home.

McAfee's Knob is one of the most photographed places on the trail. Oh, and just so you know, it's super leg tingling scary sitting there looking 'relaxed' for the photo.

A brief stop at a hostel led to a crowded van ride. We were taken to an all you can eat restaurant.

Friends Nancy (aka Honey Bee) and Alan drove several hours to meet us at a trail crossing. They took us to the D Day Memorial (very moving) and out to lunch. It was a wonderful respite. Super trail magic!! P. S. Remember Honey Bee from ME? I told you we had become friends!

Great patches of Stinging Nettles highly prized by Herbalists for their medicinal properties. If you brush up against them they do sting a bit.

A recent fire in Jefferson National Park had the trail closed until it could be cleared. It was eerie hiking through.

Blazes. It felt good to be back.

In June we went back to Pearisburg VA where we had left off last Summer to drive up to Katahdin and start hiking South. Our goal was to get to Dalesville 100 miles North.
