I really flip for those excellent guys.

it's so exhausting how even though it's chill to be gay and even trans in most of the social circles i move in, the gender binary has become increasingly reinforced and reified over the past decade. like when i was in high school it seemed like the future would involve a breakdown of gender roles/genders themselves, and instead everyone who isn't trans (and frankly many trans people as well) has doubled down on "there are two categories of people and they are completely different from each other and you have to be sorted into one or the other category even if you say you aren't either"

why is it that every time I came home when I had no plan to move back I felt like there was a life here for me that I could instantly fit into, but now on the first visit where I am planning to move back next summer I felt alienated and unwelcome and combative with my family the whole time
