I don't think I've ever seen a band two days in a row, until today. Or maybe the status still stands.
Went to Shonen Knife's annual 712 gig yesterday where I learned (somehow missing before) that they would play today in their Osaka Ramones guise. Naoko and Atsuko started off in black leather jackets but shed them at the same time a few songs in....
A lot of fun, this track (from a set years earlier) was probably my favorite. A couple I admit I didn't recognize...
This is "The Embarrassment "Sex Drive" (Live at Liberty Hall, 2006)" by daniel fetherston on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the
The Embarrassment, "Sex Drive" (Live, 2006)
Playing their most covered song....
The Embarrassment, “Elizabeth Montgomery's Face” (Live, 2006)
My favorite obscure band with a new release. A combination of a cleaned up version of a 1980 session released only cassette (which I have...) and a pretty nice live set from 2006.
Another North Carolina Mitch… and another track it seems I posted pre-Tumblr. A pretty little number that sounds like it might have escaped from Flying Nun.
For more info about this record and this Mitch, see the entry at NCMusicHistory
Been too long since I last gave this a spin.... For the record, it's from 1986

Makin' Time, "Here Is My Number" (1985)
Swear I've never heard this before, but in the Tokyo bar I was just in, everyone seemed to be singing along....
that dog., "Long Island" (1997)
So I knew that the Haden sisters in that dog. were the daughters of Charlie Haden, but didn't know the family's musical legacy stretched another generation back until listening to a podcast where Petra talked about her grandparents' supporting her musical exploration. Seems they had a country act as the Haden Family that included the young Charlie.
Sakura with The Quests, "女大不中留" (1967)
You don't hear Chinese yodeling every day....
Beat Rodeo, "Just Friends" (1984)
And finally....
Fantastic 40th anniversary show by The 5.6.7.8's, including a set with previous four-piece lineup -- one of 3 sets. Unstoppable!
(And even played my latest annual mix pick to kick off the encore...)
Strangely, no posts from the gig on YouTube but lots on X and Instagram....

Suicide Commandos, "Anarchy in the U.K." (Live, 1976?)
Another one in honor of Steve Almaas..... This recording was purportedly made, per the cover, in Minneapolis sometime in 1976, but Google has no more specific date.
The Sex Pistols released their "Anarchy" single on Nov. 26, 1976.... So kinda incredible that it could have been gobbled up so quickly all the way over in Minnesota to make this recording by year end?
The band also notably takes on "I Fought the Law," two years before The Clash picked it up....
Crackers, "Ultimato" (1980)
One more for Steve Almaas....
Steve Almaas, "What's The Matter" (1981)
In memorium. From his first solo record, recorded with Mitch Easter & Richard Barone.
Margaret Miller/苗嘉麗, “指水盟心愛義長” (1969)
It sounds older than the original, but seems to have come out about 3 years later....
Public Places, “3 Lefts = 1 Right” (2020)

Wet Tea Ceremony: 2025 mix
We're back on YouTube this year, via the link above. But if you prefer the download version, it's **here.**
The good news is, the playlist file should smoothly put everything right in order (much more difficult to get that working right than it should be).
If you want to break things in two for CD-R purposes, "Sassy Moon" would be the first track for the second disc.
The Salt Collective feat. Lynn Blakey, Matthew Caws and Kimberley Rew, "How We Breathe" (2025)
Definitely the liveliest track on A Brief History of Blindness.
