ALSO while Im here! Intern designs. I liked the idea that they were all hares. Theres no reason for blue being domestic in comparison to the others I just wanted one to be a belgian hare, but a domestic breed didnt suit the idea I had for the default one.

Ehehe I love putting my ocs in situations!! Idk if Ive ever posted Salem (it/they mostly) here before but its a fall spirit thing and people like it wasyyy more than Ponkin. Salem is a lot more open and talkative and just . not considered as grating to be around as Ponkin is
It also antagonizes Ponkin sometimes but its all in good fun. To Salem. Its fun for Salem. It thinks its bonding.
I mean it doesnt help that Ponkin's version of trying to talk to people is uhhh. well its the bare minimum pretty much. He doesnt like meeting people but he wants to be known and liked like Salem is.

Finally back to drawing post artfight yippee !!! It's gotta be Ponkin I just looove him. This is kind of like a sequel to this post I made last year with Faraday .... (+holy shit that does not feel like it was that long ago)
And heres extra stuff, aka 1 image and thoughts
So. Usually I draw Ponkin with this sort of blush, yknow the one pretty much every character has, and for good reason red is an iconic and realistic blush color. Maybe not this dark but whayevrr. But I think I like the idea of his blush being a glowing orange instead. Like his insides are glowing. Like a jack-o-lantern. Like the thing he is based on.
Its kinda funny looking at his current design and knowing that he was, at least a little, inspired by carved pumpkins. Cause like you can kinda see it but it was so much more evident in his first design. Which looked like this. Its kinda crazy to me Ive had him since I was 15 (though most of his art is with designs I made when I was 17 and up.)
Side note, its been four YEARS and I still struggle with drawing the knife. The more things change the more they stay the same

Heyo! Sad/scary news: our new cat, CJ (Cheetos's brother), had so much stress from his flight here that he's been hospitalized with a urinary blockage. Peri's pet insurance was able to cover *most* of the cost, with us (me/Angel) covering the other half.
The problem is that this is likely to happen again, given it was triggered by stress & he's going thru an adjustment period w/a new home. We're in talks about a surgery that would prevent this from occurring again but 1) we don't know if the surgery would be permitted, and 2) we cannot afford the surgery OR this happening again.
Expect adopts soon, BA included. I'm too stressed & overwhelmed w/everything to make new studs so I'm likely to reuse some from the early-game, who haven't seen some action in a hot minute. (I'm working on putting them up now!)
I would love to post a new litter of BA kittens over the weekend or Monday at the latest - will keep y'all updated. Regular non-BA adopts should be going up soonish as well.
In the meantime, if you can, pls peruse my shop & maybe pick up some lineart or silly lil text games. I never expect or ask for donations but they are appreciated if they occur.

Today's wasp of the day is the tick wasp (Ixodiphagus hookeri)!

With cases of Lyme disease and other tickborne illnesses on the rise recently, it's important as ever to recognize the important role wasps play in regulating insect and arachnid populations.
Mama wasp will lay an egg within a young tick that has not had its first meal yet. The egg's development only starts once the tick gets some blood in its tum. The tick will continue its development but not get too far along as the wasp baby eats it from the inside out.
While I. hookeri has been noted to be capable of using multiple species of ticks as their hosts, what complicates matters is that they're individually picky. Different populations of the same species of wasp will show different bias for which tick species they go after. If only we could understand what goes on in that tiny ganglion of theirs.

I've always found mirelurk kings to look so sick and I wanted to make a character based on one for a bit. His lore is unrelated though I just wanted the look. :^) I've also rediscovered my enjoyment of older monster movies which pushed me to make a fella finally.
