Do not attach your heart to any human being!

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah - may Allah have mercy on him - said:

The heart was created solely for the love of Allah Almighty. Do not scatter your heart in seeking love, security, and perfection from other than Allah. You will not find it, and the heart will continue to be let down by people. And they are all excused, due to their own deficiency and weakness. You will continue to be disappointed and hurt until you become certain that true attachment is only befitting for Allah, and that the heart does not find rest, tranquility, and a sense of security except with Allah. So, love others for the sake of Allah, in accordance with Allah's will, and to please Allah -not to please yourself. And whoever pleases Allah , He will please them, even if after a while.

لَكن ؛ لَا تَغُرَّنّك أَقوَال امْرِئٍ وادِّعاءاتُه ومَا يُظهِرُه حتّى تُوافِقَ هذه الأَقوَال الأَفعَالَ، وتُثبِت لَك الأَيّامُ أَصَالَة مَعدِنِه وصِدق مَوَدَّتِه وجَمِيل خُلُقِه.

وهذَا لَن تَعرِفَ حقيقتَه وقت الرَّخَاء والسَّعَة والأفراح والاتِّفاق والائتِلاف، وإنَّما تَعرِفه في الأوقاتِ العَصيبَة وحالَ الضِّيق والاختِلاف والمُشاحَنَة والاضطِراب.

يا بني، إذا صليت فصل صلاة مودع لا تظن أنك تعود إليها ألدًا

"My son! Pray the prayer of he who is just about to leave and imagine that you might not be able to pray ever again."

Imam Ibn Kathir رحمه الله said:

"There is no greater friendship between two souls than that between a married couple."
