Each year on Gables Day, every associate company-wide, puts aside their normal daily work activities to volunteer in their region. Since 2000, Gables associates and vendors have contributed over 100,000 volunteer hours and $1,000,000 in goods and services. In 2007, Gables Day was dedicated to assisting several hurricane impacted neighborhoods in New Orleans. Gables was awarded the “2007 Community Service Project of the Year” by Multifamily Executive Magazine for the volunteer efforts in New Orleans contributed by Gables associates.

We had a great time at our brand new Playground Ribbon Cutting ceremony this past Sunday! It looks like our junior residents had a great time as well. This is an extra amenity that is sure to add activity and excitement to Westport Colony for many years to come!

This week starts our team feature series. We decided to sit down with Deb and ask her a few questions to get to know her better.

. What do you like to do in your free time? I have a 3 ½ year old, so we hang out at the pool and do arts and crafts/

. What is your favorite thing to do in St. Pete/Tampa? I love Lowry Park Zoo, and Glazer Children’s Museum.

. What is your favorite restaurant near West Port Colony? Tijuana Flat. Mmmmmm!

. What is your go to radio station? 103.5 (country music)

Happy Friday! Westport Colony is excited to welcome our new Service Manager, Harold Williams. Harold has been taking care of the way people live for over 15 years. During his years or service, Harold has won numerous honors for his performance. He is not new to Gables Residential, only to Saint Petersburg. Harold is married with two children and is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys both hunting, fishing and time on the beach.

Pinterest is all the rage when it comes to home and apartment projects. We at Westport Colony wanted to put a DIY Apartment Fun Pinboard together of a few of our favorite DIY apartment ideas.

If you are unfamiliar with Pinterest, it is a virtual pinboard, that allows you to take any image from the internet and place it on a categorized pinboard. You can take any image from any website and add it to your collection. Let's say you search Google for "Decorating Ideas" and you come across a website that has an idea you like, instead of doing it the old school way and bookmarking it, you can download the Pinterest bookmarklet, and add that decorating idea to your "Decorating Ideas" Pinterest board, to come back and view later.

Pinterest is also a great way for brides to plan their weddings. You can search Pinterest for "Wedding ideas on a budget" and you'll get tons of images that match your search. When you click on an image, it will show you a how-to or where you can purchase what you are looking at.
