“Well, considering i don’t go to school, i don’t have to. but i will take your word for it, doll.”

“Trust me, it’s hard.” Wendy said before giving him a smile. “I’m Wendy by the way.” 

“why don’t you simply buy one yourself?”

“You try buying anything but ramen on a student income.”

“Maybe you should slyly offer him a mint or something then. Like, say you have an extra and then offer it to him or something.” His head shook, eyebrows furrowing. “Huh? No, not me personally. I’ve just see a lot of people doing that to others. For fun or for gain, I don’t know.”

“Most of the students have tried. “I have an aversion to mint.” he says. Like, can you believe that? Who has an aversion to mint?” Wendy rolled her eyes and stubbed the bud of the cigarette out in the ashtray. “Well, that’s a relief, at least in a way. I assume most people like to see what they can get out of manipulating others. My brother Tristan, he once manipulated his high school physics teacher into buying the class cheeseburgers for lunch.” 

“It’s fine, really.” He runs a hand through his not-even-slightly combed hair, hands taping against the table. “Ah. Heh, I bet half of Northway took that class based on how many people manipulate others in this town. Makes me glad I don’t have that guy.”

“Truthfully he isn’t that bad. I mean, the salami breath is pretty bad but he’s got excellent credentials.” Raising a brow Wendy spoke again. “Who’s been manipulating you?” She tapped the Camel cigarette on the rim of the ashtray before taking another puff. “Seems to me you’d be to smart to let that happen.” 

“I’m sure everyone does. Uh, Oliver. Nice to meet you too.”

“If the smoke bothers you, I can put it out.” Wendy said with s nod to the ashtray on the wire cafe table. “My Psychology class was a bit brutal today. Talking over how people can manipulate others into doing just about anything. Well, that and Professor Trennor had the salami sub for lunch again.

❘❙❚ ✧“I thought I was acting cute, aish ~ look at my dimple ! Isn’t it charming ?” He laughed softly, slipping closer. “I left my pack in my jacket pocket …” He puffed out his cheeks with air, then deflated them with a huff and a needy expression.

Wendy smiled. Lee’s voice was refreshing and his attitude was a vast improvement on the company she had dealt with previously that day. “You were a little creepy, but the dimple does make up for it.” She noted the needy expression and slid the pack towards him with a flick of her index finger. “Take one.” 

  “I just space out sometimes. Sorry.”

“It’s cool, I do sometimes too. I’m Wendy, nice to meet you.” 

“What? No, I don’t smoke.”

“Then you’re gawking at me because? Do I have something in my teeth?” 

“ Green lantern was a crime to super hero movies. Hal Jordan himself would have been disappointed. “

“Well, at least it wasn’t like they sewed his fuckin mouth shut, ya get me? I’m Wendy by the way.”

“ -then he goes to fight his nemesis and he- are you listening? “

“Wait...let me get this straight, he thinks Francis can fix his face but it turns out he’s gonna look like Freddy Kruger face fucked a topographical map of Utah for the rest of his never able to die life?”  

“Truthfully I expected you to be out chasing Pokemon with the rest of the student body.” 

“i am so fucking bored. help.”

“There is a lecture on concepts of psychology in A Block.” 

“Any reason why you have 12 sixpacks of Red Bull in your fridge?” 

“I have to stay awake somehow. My brother is outrageously loud at the wrong hours of the night.”
