Here’s Inktober 16, from Anais Mitchell’s “I Raise My Cup to Him.” Bit of background: this song is the last one on a concept album called Hadestown, which is a folk-opera adaptation of the myth of Orpheus and Persephone. Since I am a giant nerd (or at least a graduate of a small liberal arts college with a very good Classics program), I am pretty much obsessed with this album, and will sing its praises (so to speak) to anyone who makes the mistake of giving me five minutes and an ear. On that note (I swear these musical puns aren’t happening on purpose): check it out! It features not only Anais Mitchell, but also Ani DiFranco and a lot of other fantastic artists. All told, a thing of beauty.
