I wanna tell you all about this amazing event taking place ONLINE this Friday (March 11th) at 8:30AM-11:30AM PST

The event is called Think Global, Link Local (TGLL), and is essentially a networking event for NGOs (non-government organizations! Think non-profits, civil society, and public service organizations!) hosted by the Vancouver Branch of the United Nations Association in Canada. There'll be speakers for different organizations, and you can listen, or even ask questions, and learn a bunch about the work they do!

It's based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, so the focus is mainly on organizations based there, so if you live in the area and are interested in connecting with NGOs, maybe even learning how to work with them, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!!

Even if you aren't in Vancouver, though, it's still a fantastic opportunity to learn more about NGOs!!

There's a lot of organizations involved, including the Canadian Red Cross, Oceanwise, and World Vision! There's a wide array of them and the causes they focus on, from women's and girl's rights, to poverty, to ocean protection and restoration, to mental health, and more!

I can describe this not as vulnerability, but as respite from the groaning weight of responsibility, control, power. I let this partner have me. I let him hold me and take care of me and take care of my body at its most vulnerable. and I give him my trust that he will take care of me for a moment so that I don’t have to. so that I may rest. like a weary traveller kicking his feet off of bedrock soles. like a parent fucking on their first date night since they had the kid. fucking free. weightless. sweet relief. 

the specific and special and unique sensations and feelings that occur during sex tell me that I want to give him my control and I do. want to. he will let me rest. he is holding me in his arms like a father holds his small daughter. we are naked and he is holding me in his lap with a father’s devotion and tenderness. he kisses me hard with the passion of a lover.

and I was not held as a child not that I wanted to be. not by the man and woman I had to call my mother and father. I still wanted to be held like all children do but Time and I are old friends now and I am too big in blossoming and in pride and I will never be held by the two parents she once had. 

and I never got to be in the moment. always in my head. always a few years off. and I never got to live like the other kids who couldn’t even think that there were thoughts to be thought. and I mindlessly walked as I thought and then I walked in too soon. sucked, stolen, robbed from the ignorant and blissful meadows and I am slowly dragged, painfully, ear-piercingly silent. their young ears haven’t matured enough to hear such desolate, dismal frequencies so I cannot blame them but choose to build unwelcome resentment. and I am taken forever and I have become so tired and sticky that I have become a wet hand in a latex glove. and this is life. 

But there is a way to be held again. There is a way she can be held for the first time. there is a way to get so high that I am shot up to the present, the heavens, and what a gift it is. and I am free of past and future. and I am nothing but in his hands. and he holds me. and he keeps me with him in the present. and he fills me with it.
