Simple tip that many probably already know (or learned the hard way). Always keep spare tile in case you need to repair later. ⠀ Worked on this homeowners shower, took down old tile, lost some in the process while saving as much as we can. They provided replacement tiles but as you can see, they do not match seamlessly. Finishing up on the garage apartment property... wanted to show you our “go to” idea for an accent wall... a bold Pallet Wood Wall. In those case it’s really cedar fence pickets/planks. First you setup some furring strip vertically on the wall, try to hit studs first and then fill in between afterwards. This combination should help keep them secured. We mixed up the woods and cut them variations of multiples of 16” give or take. This gave us maximum spread and hitting at least one stud. No need to stain, might be hard actually since wood is coarse. You can even run wires behind the pockets between the furring strips to hide cables. House Investor FAIL! Toilet flange sits too high above the finishing flooring. This was discouraging after finishing all the restroom tile just right. Had to break it up, lost some tiles in the process, Home Depot was closed by the time I finished so today it was Home Depot first thing in the morning. Used a pvc internal cutting tool bit, reduced the pvc pipe down, then got the flange to sit just right. Now to clean up old mortar and broken tile, pull out tile saw and get it all finished up. Hopefully will have restroom 80% finished by today. REI’ers: do you all check your property’s water pressure? Im finishing up first bathroom and was so excited about the new shower head and then .... 💩! Just a drip. Tested out water pressure around the house and hitting about 50-55psi. Which is a good range... between 45-80psi. I ended up finding out the issue with the shower(forgot to cap off a hot water pex line somewhere else, reducing pressure in the lines). Other options you can check: - check if your house main has a water pressure regulator that can be adjusted - if your lines are old (galvanized pipe), could have a lot of build up(clean them out or replace... hoping I won’t need to do that) - water fixtures need cleaning or replacing from buildup.
