Going into It, my expectations weren't high. After all, it's an adaptation of a book whose sole female character is largely defined by sexual violence and

âAmazon declined to commentâ doesnât bode well.
The Variety article also originally completely failed to credit Terry Pratchett as the co-author of the book, and only corrected it after both he and Terryâs reps noted it.Â
I get the feeling they tried to jumpstart the apocalypse and published before they were supposed to, based on Neilâs being a bit tetchy in his tweet - on all the American Gods news heâd basically retweet seconds after the original story âbroke.â
It was Variety leaking the story. And yes, I was tetchy, as were we all. Itâs not the way you want the news to go out, and there are lots of people making this and lots of voices that werenât heardâŚ

Itâs a shame when media âbreaksâ a story badly, missing key voices and credits and details.

Of course, the company didnât phrase it that way because it would have to spend another $11 million cleaning up all the mess from the white peopleâs heads that exploded.

For years now, the latest console generation has been coasting on the idea that more raw power means better games. The PS4âs newest exclusive, Horizon: Zero Dawn, is the rare game that delivers on that promise.
âTo play Guerilla Gamesâ Horizon: Zero Dawn is to feel awe. Awe over sheer technical wizardry and its ability to transport you into a new world. Awe over discovering gargantuan mechanical dinosaurs and gradually uncovering the mysteries of a lost civilization. Awe over the fact I have never seen so many kickass women in a first party big-budget game, much less this many people of color in key roles. I often found myself pausing the game just to marvel at it all.â Well, colour me excited!
I am always thrilled to see games made with passion, with skill and with commitment; Iâm even happier when those games feature a strong female protagonist who is notable for something beyond her bust size. Canât wait for our copy to arrive!!

Today in âthings that make me happyâ - beautiful and joyful representation of LGBTTQ* in mainstream gaming. Tracer is the most visible of the characters in Overwatch, and has been the centre of the advertising and box-art, and the comic celebrating Christmas has (SPOILER ALERT) her trying to find the perfect Christmas gift for her girlfriend. Itâs not touted or given fanfare or any sort of flourish. Instead, itâs part of who she is.
Blizzard promised back in 2015 that they would have multiple LGBTTQ* characters in Overwatch, so this is just the beginning. However: itâs a beginning. And that makes me happy.
so apparently, monocles became a popular fashion accessory amongst lesbians in the early 20th century. there was even a lesbian bar in Paris in the 1920s named Le Monocle.
#bringbacklesbianmonocles2k16
have some pics. le monocle was a wild, wild ride.
I am VERY into this
If youâre bringing this trend back, make sure youâre staying safe and sanitary. Sharing monocles is just not safe in this day and age! http://hivemill.com/products/gentlemans-monocle
Wynonnaâs super supportive but totally lowkey about the whole thing wink at Waverly
Also - finally a non-straight character who doesnât get killed! Bring on the immortal lesbians!
For Sunspring's exclusive debut on Ars, we talked to the filmmakers about collaborating with an AI.
Well, based on this short film, SF writersâ jobs are safe. On the other hand, we clearly need to use narrow AIs for all absurdist art from now on. Iâm also super-impressed with what the actors were able to do with the script. An excerpt from the AIâs interview during the Sci-Fi London awards show: What do you think of your historic nomination against human opponents in this contest? I was pretty excited. I think I can see the feathers when they release their hearts. It's like a breakdown of the facts. So they should be competent with the fact that they won't be surprised.
What is the future of machine written entertainment? It's a bit sudden. I was thinking of the spirit of the men who found me and the children who were all manipulated and full of children. I was worried about my command. I was the scientist of the Holy Ghost.
What's next for you? Here we go. The staff is divided by the train of the burning machine building with sweat. No one will see your face. The children reach into the furnace, but the light is still slipping to the floor. The world is still embarrassed. The party is with your staff. My name is Benjamin.
Ever since that day, Sharp and Goodwin have called the AI by its chosen name.

Why is Leslie Jonesâ character the only non-scientist in the group? Why is she getting framed as the âstreet smartâ character â the one who supposedly doesnât have as much technological know-how as the other three women on the team? In other words, why is the 2016 Ghostbusters rehashing the exact same tropes as the original Ghostbusters did with Ernie Hudsonâs character?
So ⌠Why Is Patty the Only Non-Scientist in the New Ghostbusters? (x)
I have been thinking this all day. Iâm really tired of the race language of black = street. Why canât we have Patty as the engineer, or quantum physicist?
