I love drawing these stupid vultures. I hate how nobody ever talks about them. 

Some of my head cannons for the species:

-Male vultures present their collection of skulls to a female vulture, usually by calling them towards their den. If the female sees a lot of skulls or skulls of bigger prey, they will accept the male because it proves they are a good hunter and would be able to provide for them and chicks. 

-female vultures are considerably larger than males because 1. they need the energy to produce and defend young. 2. they are the main diggers of burrows, which they use to nest 

-vultures form packs, usually consisting of 2 to 10 but in some extremely rare cases, usually during cold or wet seasons, they group up together in massive colonies that nest in the mountains, providing protection to their young and extra scraps of food if they are unable to hunt.

-vultures mate for life, and a mutated pair will spend their days hunting for each other and protecting each other. This means that if a person were to kill a partner of a pair that vulture would make that person their vendetta and stop at nothing to have them killed. 

-bonding with a vulture is almost only possible after a chick is hatched and is bonded to you. But in a few where someone rescues a vulture from a trap or displays complete dominance and superiority over that vulture. The vulture will then become subjected towards that person and view them as something above them, allowing them to ride them and see them as an acquaintance, although it is much more flimsy and unstable of a relationship

-they were never made for long distance travel as they are huge and heavy birds. They’re meant to stay in the air for about 30 minutes to an hour before they need a rest.

- vultures are very smart; Ex they can recognize the atmosphere of an area in since a trap before it’s been revealed or avoid a particular area of flight even if it’s caretaker/rider wants to go there because it can sense something off like an approaching attack. They also have a consciousness somewhere between dolphin and human. Although they do not have the same level as consciousness as humans not being able to process more complex feelings, like betrayal, heartbreak, love, (and other complex emotions cause I really don’t know any )

Made a drawing of what might happen when sword meets their wonderful uncle firebrand. But they are a dragon and huge for some reason??? Idk I started drawing this late at night and decided to lazy color it. (Also yes this is almost completely unrendered cause I’m NOT doing all that)
