Isabel Ballantine and the Wasteland

Still in power armor, Isabel lead the survivors to Sanctuary. After dropping off the suit at the old red rocket, she informed them that this was her neighborhood and gave them her blessing to live here. She even helped them get settled in. Everyone pulled their weight that day, making basic defenses and getting the gardens started.

That night though, Isabel went back to her home. She had known about Nate’s stash for a long time, thought she never expected it to make it through the apocalypse. A bottle of bourbon was her companion for the night and the shower washed away her tears in the morning. 

After a bit of standard morning moping, Isabel remembered something Mama Murphy said the day prior. The old lady spoke of a place called the Great Green Jewel. After asking around a bit it became obvious that she was talking about Fenway park. Isabel gathered up the boys and set out to find Shaun.

It was still raining when Isabel got to Concord. She heard gun shots as she came into the city and she tried to investigate but got too close and someone noticed. Instead of simply approaching her or yelling, they opened fire on her as well. She killed her first human…

The rain washed the blood away and the adrenaline numbed the event. Someone was at the top of the building shouting at her to help them. Some sort of auto pilot went on, or at least that was the best way she could explain it, and Isabel moved into the building. 

Isabel made her way through the old museum , the thought that this was where Nate and her were supposed to be that night if the bombs had not fallen crossed her mind only briefly. While she made her way through the old dusty exhibits and ruined displays she meet a new friend, Borous. 

Once she made it up to the trapped survivors, they told her about a suit of power armor and an old woman told her dogmeat’s name and about a horrible evil that was coming... well after getting the power armor( thank goodness for that day at the army base with Nate were she tried out the newest power armor) and taking out the raiders she meet the evil and ended it!

Isabel made it back up to the surface, to be met with more heartache of course. The blinding light subsided to a blinding reality. Her world was more than just gone, it was a wasteland now. 

She made her way back to the house, and was shocked to find Codsworth. He managed to keep Sanctuary in pretty good condition. After a collective mental break down, Codsworth told Isabel about Concord and how there were still people there, and maybe someone could help. 

After spending part of the day going through the things that somehow survived, like her journal, Isabel set out for Concord. At the old Red Rocket she met a good dog, reminded her of the one that her and Nate had gotten just before Shaun was born. She finally found her dog and it was time to head out on the road.

Isabel made the gruesome discovery that she was the Sole Survivor of this vault.  She desperately checked every other cryo pod for any sign of life, but they were all dead… even the team that was supposed to look over them.

After her first run in with rad roaches she thanked Nate for having her take those self defense classes. The security baton came in handy but the gun she found in the overseers office was even better, again thanking Nate for the push.

The wake up came again, despite how much she wished it wouldn’t. Isabel didn’t want to wake up to the reality she wished was all a dream. The reality where Nate was dead and everything she knew was gone, but there was no staying asleep anymore. 

She screamed and she screamed, as she fell from her pod and laid on the ground. She crawled her way over to Nate’s pod and she banged her fist on it, she was met only with an echo of her own actions. The tears didn’t stop when Isabel opened the pod until her head hurt more than her heart. 

What they thought would save them inevitably lead to their deaths.

When they entered the Vault Isabel wanted to breath a sigh of relief, but she knew this wasn’t it. They put on their new vault suits and entered what they were told was decontamination chambers. Then it started, the long sleep. 

The wake up came to fast, and everything else after that. Someone opened Nate’s chamber and tried to take Shaun from his arms but that would only happen over his cold dead body. They obliged to that, shooting him in cold blood. Isabel tried to scream but nothing came out. And then that face, she would never forget it as she fell back into the sleep.

The morning had started off so nice and then got a bomb dropped on it, quite literally. 

After having to deal with the persistent Vault-tec rep, Isabel just wanted to sit down and enjoy some quiet time with Nate and Shaun, maybe go get some pumpkins for Halloween. Her world got turned upside down after hearing Codsworth call for them though. It was a good thing she had finally talked to the rep she thought as they ran up the hill to the vault. So many people were left outside the gates as they went in. 

And then it happened... just as they were about to be lowered down the bomb dropped just south of Boston. The world was over and a new one was beginning.

Prior to the bombs dropping, Isabel had a pretty good life. She went to college, she met the love of her life, they had a home, a car, and even a robot butler. The rationing hadn’t bothered them very much and Nate was finally back for good. It all seemed pretty perfect, except for, you know, the occasional heated spat, her recovery from alcoholism, his sever PTSD that involved night terrors and more; but, looking at everything else and the rest of the country, they had it good.

October 23, 2077, started like most other days. Isabel needed some coxing out of bed, between postpartum and recovering alcoholism, depression was hitting her hard. Nate rehearsing his speech in the mirror made it all better though, seeing her big bad soldier man all nervous made her laugh and smile. She was so proud of him, a decorated war hero about to receive more honors at the Veterans hall in Concord and he was a loving father, she really snagged a good one. And her, a loving mother and a strong willed woman who did what was right and tried to help the little people, how did he ever get so lucky. They were perfect, and it would be a perfect day.

So good news is I finally installed my SSD I've had for a year and moved fallout onto it!

Bad news is I messed up my mods and had to redo them all...

Other good news is I installed a bunch more mods to make things look better!

Bad news is if I don't wanna mess up my game it's probably safest if I start fresh...

So Isabel's story is starting a new!

(gonna stay the same though, sorry anyone who hates the brotherhood (yeah not actually sorry 'cause Danse))

(sorry I’ve been so inactive recently. my family just got a German Shepherd puppy (I have my own Dogmeat now!) and he is such a handful but he is getting better. so I hope to be back soon.)

So Isabel is off to Goodneighbor, but she made a stop along the way at the Combat Zone! and yeah she was pretty much forced to fight. She won somehow (I had to swap to my sword cause Cait was kicking my ass) and now has a new, very reluctant companion. Well back on the road we go

That’ll teach Isabel to deal with the Bobrov brothers.

She was wandering around Diamond city and went into the Dugout Inn, only to find out the person she wanted to buy stuff from had gotten kidnapped… Damn it Vadim. So she went and got some info from Travis. Despite being worried he would accidentally shoot her in the back, Isabel took him with her even. He handled himself pretty well. And that’s what you get for dealing with raider, Vadim.

Then Isabel was off to pick up some paint from the hardware store. It looked alot different than it did when her and Nate went there to pick out new appliances, alot more blood and atomic dust… And lastly, she came across a crashed space ship and noped away real fast.

Isabel made her way back to Diamond city after her week with the Brotherhood. Went back to tell Nick about Kellogg and where he said Shaun was. She was really hopeful that he’d know how to get into the Institute but he doesn’t. She’s actually really pissed about it but knows she still needs his help so she wont show it. 

Its off to the memory den, to see if this doctor can use this piece of junk she got from Kellogg’s head to help them. Isabel is gonna find her son one way or another. Shaun, mommy’s coming to rescue you, don’t worry!

Well, after securing Fort Strong and reporting back to the Prydwen, Isabel was asked to look into that recon team Danse had told her about a while back. Unfortunately most of the team turned up dead. Except for their old Paladin, and in the state he was in there was no convincing him to come back. Isabel’s Paladin was sadden by it but he told her how proud he was of her, and how glad he was that she joined them.

Isabel tried making some friends, even got a wardrobe change from Proctor Teagan, but she only feeling slightly welcomed… Guess she’ll just stick to making friends with Danse.

Now that she’s had time to rest, Isabel is off to go on her first Brotherhood mission to kill a bunch of super mutants. The carnage they leave is unlike anything she’s seen. She’s definitely not a fan of then, even less so after Paladin Danse told her about his friend Cutler. 

Well the Commonwealth has a new mutant slayer now. Between the Institute and super mutants, Isabel’s hands are going to be very bloody.
