“Oh fuck! Are you okay?”

“Crap! Sorry about that! Wasn’t looking where I was going. Here, I’ll get you a new jacket…”

“Need a ride?”

“How are you?”

“Seems like we’re gonna be stuck on this train for an extra three hours.”

“What’s your name?”

“Thank you.”

“You just saved my life!”

“Move the fuck out of my way.”

“Watch where you’re going!”

“Asshole.”

“Would you like anything?”

“You’re gorgeous.”

“Do I know you?”

“Uh, that’s my spot.”

“Oh, God, sorry! Let me buy you a new one.”

“Is that your dog? He is so CUTE!”

“Here, take my seat. You look tired.”

“Checking in?”

“Can I sit here?”

“May I buy you a drink?”

“I can spot you, if you want.”

“How’d you even get stuck in a locker, anyway?”

“Can you turn it down?! Some of us are trying to sleep!”

“Hi, I’m your new roommate.”

“I think I found your dog. Is he yours?”

“You look cold, take my jacket.”

“Hey, I think the mailman gave me your mail by mistake? [Name], right?”

“You’ve had a guy/girl over every night this week! And you’re really loud! You know how I know? I know because I live below you!”

“So, your kid apparently punched my kid in the face.”

“Bride or groom?”

“Can you switch seats with me? I can’t see!”

“Okay, look, if you’re gonna be airsick, aim the other way.”

“[Sir/Ma'am], if you don’t stop being rude to me, I’m going to give you decaf.”

“Don’t drink that! I saw some guy slip something in there.”

“Hey, is he bothering you?”

“Don’t give up your day job.”

“…Dude, your fly’s down.”

“I think you have the wrong number.”

“I’m [muse’s child]’s teacher.”

“[Muse’s child/younger sibling] was in my yard again!”

“Get out of here! This is my hiding spot!”

“YOUR STUPID MUTT RIPPED UP MY YARD AGAIN!”

“SHUT UP. And learn to stay on key.”

“Good Evening/Afternoon/Morning/Day/Night.”

“Watch where you’re going!”

“Is this seat taken?”

“Here you dropped this.”

“You remind me of someone.”

“Will you be taking this?”

“May I take your order?”

“How are you?”

“You look familiar, have we met before?”

“Be careful next time.”

“Hey, could you help me?”

“Help me!”

“I’m so sorry!”

“Are you alright?!”

“I know we’ve never met, but I think you’re beautiful.”

“I think I may have seen you before…”

“Hey! Watch it!”

“Oh my god are you okay?”

“Have we met…?”

“Were you at that one party?”

“Remember me?”

“I know you don’t know me but I love your shirt.”

“Quick, pretend to look like you’re talking to me.”

“Hey, is that your dog?”

“Service takes forever here.”

“Don’t mean to sound cliche, but do you come here often?”

“I wouldn’t sit there if I were you.”

“This is gonna be a long plane ride.”

“Can you turn that music down?”

“People are trying to sleep!”

“I’m your new neighbour.”

“Is that who I think it is?”

“Be quiet!”

“Is that your son/daughter?”

Ulquiorra chuckled at his roommate’s bravado, raising his hands in a defensive manner. He knew Grimmjow was a bit worried about him, but when Ulquiorra was like this he needed to get up and move to work it out of his system. Plus his headache was gone and that was the big thing bothering him.

“It was just an offer,” Ulquiorra said. “And thank you for grabbng me a cup.”

He set a pot and pan on the stove to heat up. As they did, rthe emerald eyed male filled up his cup with water and proceeded to drink it all, filling it up again.

Once the pot and pan were hot, he began to heat up the soup and make the grilled cheese.

“Well if you are making anything with bread or cheese, help yourself to what I’ve got in the fridge. I need to use it all but I can’t eat it all.”

“Heh. Thanks.”

He had never really been one for frills, so that was great. You can never go wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich, after all. At least that was the case in his opinion.

For awhile there, Grimmjow kept silent, content to simply busy himself with making that damned sandwich. The sound of boiling soup, flickering of flame and occasional clink of kitchenware cropped up between the pair of roommates- and he was comfortable with this.

That was, until he briefly recalled the conversation that they had had the night before. Huh.

Something must’ve happened.

                    “Ah, yeah. Itachi is far too good, sometimes.” The smile that perked up Saburo’s face was genuine. He purposefully skipped over Grimmjow’s comment, storing it in his mind for later consideration. It wasn’t that he wanted the conversation to turn solely on himself–quite the opposite actually–it was only that he wasn’t sure how to respond. ‘I’m not missing out on anything’ sounded far too dismissive of problems, and Saburo felt he would say the wrong thing if he commented. He couldn’t understand, because he did miss his parents (his mother) when he thought about it. Not that he often did. 

           A hum as he peered at the menu. “Taro milk tea with red bean…most likely.” Definitely. It was his usual order, and he didn’t really feel much like being adventurous today. He had considered green tea beforehand, but now presented with the menu above him it seemed like such a normal, boring choice. 

                        “You?”

“Ehh... Probably just a coke.” He would have ordered green tea -something simple to wash things down- but that would be kind of redundant since he was going to get the cake as well. 

It was a damned good thing that Saburo didn’t pursue the subject. It wasn’t exactly something that Grimmjow bothered to discuss with anyone, and the lot he usually ran around with understood this too. His caretakers back at the orphanage were the only ones who actually knew shit about his history, and even that wasn’t much.

Once they had gotten their orders, Grimmjow paid for the both of them. As promised.

              Saburo simply hummed, considering whether to elaborate. He supposed it didn’t hurt, and perhaps it would assuage any other curiosity–or at least leave it alone. “He did something I can’t forgive. And now he’s…missing. Ran off.” 

                      Saburo made his way to the brightly lit cakes behind the counter as the cashier studiously ignored them. Brows furrowed a little at the comment and he hummed again. “Sorry to hear that.” It was said as casually as anything else. “My older brother takes care of us. So, the three of us.Or…two, now.”

             He nodded, finding what he was looking for on the shelf. “They make very good cakes…Like the green tea and strawberry…”

“Huh.” That was when thoughts of further questions regarding Saburo’s family were immediately dropped. Fresh wound, most likely. Probably had a lot to do with why the kid had been so messed up the first time he met him. Still was, though with some improvement.

“Don’t be sorry. Never knew ‘em; I’m not missing out on anything.” Or so he said. “You’ve got a good big brother.”

Sweets weren’t really his style, but Grimmjow had never particularly been a fussy eater. One thing he had gotten from the orphanage, was that he was, in that sense, grateful for what he had.

                    “I have two,” Saburo said, and paused, trying to find the right words to describe Sasuke. “My twin brother, Sasuke, and our older brother, Itachi. I was referring to Sasuke, though. He’s… a dick. Antisocial, irritable, a bit arrogant and sort of hates everyone. But we get along, usually.” 

           There was more to it than that, but Saburo knew few people who Sasuke didn’t piss off in one way or another, and so he was honest. Besides even that though– “Not right now, though. He can go to hell.” 

           Saburo took the turn at the corner, dark eyes searching out the establishment until he saw it nestled between a karaoke bar and a noodle shop. “What about you? Any siblings?” He said as he pushed open the door to be greeted by the smell of coffee and baked goods, and the sound of arcade machines. 

“Oh?” Grimmjow glanced about the establishment curiously, scoping out the area with a mild interest. He had never really been the type to pry, and so left his unasked question open-ended. Saburo could choose to elaborate if he wanted to; Grimmjow knew that the younger had a bit of a problem with talking about certain things.

“... Naw, I’m an only kid,” he said, after some deliberation. “Or at least as far as I know. Never got to know my parents, so it’s pretty much just me.”

Got dumped at the orphanage when he was a baby. Couldn’t have been more than a few days old, honestly. That was what he had been told by the caretaker.
