I immediately stopped giving a shit about the anti-degendering pregnancy argument when that blog opened with 'pregnancy discussions that cater to the majority and erase the minority are fine and expected, we shouldn't expect minorities to be included in discussions like this'. That is just fundementally anti-queer. Like, completely and utterly that idea that ignoring minorities is fine because they are minorities is not only anti-queer, it's racist, it's pro-bigotry. I can't take that seriously! If you concede that the world is FINE when it is built to be as convenient as possible for the majority and to erase, silence and become impossible to exist in for the minority, you are a bigot. We established this like, decades ago! This is the basic PREMISE!

We'll have Halloween on Christmas like in that one song but there'll also be Christmas on Christmas for the Christmas people. So two Halloweens and one double.
I know 2 years ago the largest hygeine brand in Finland launched a line of gender neutral and masculine tampons, called "For MEnstruation" and "For MENstruation"
So it is a thing in some places.
Don't ask me why I know about Finnish tampon advertising from 2 years ago, I don't even live near Finland.
Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.
This article specifically notes:
For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.
GDID is the persistent Windows ID that helped FBI trace a Scattered Spider hacker despite VPNs. Here's how it works and how to limit it.
Other important quotes:
What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Costin Raiu, a well-known malware researcher, asked on the Three Buddy Problem podcast how much of this exists on other platforms, and whether it is linked more permanently to hardware. Matthew Hickey, another security researcher, called Windows “surveillance software”.
Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.
I went away and did some research into GDID and if there is a way to block it.
For starters, GDID exists both in Windows 10 and 11 (I've checked on my W10 computer), but only if you use a Microsoft account. If you use a local account/offline account, GDID is not stored in your PC, nor should your PC generate one.
tldr; if you don't use a Microsoft account to use/login to Windows, you're most likely safe. You can skip this post.
Secondly I might have found a way to, not disable GDID, but safely delete GDID in your computer and prevent Windows from retrieving your GDID from Microsoft servers.
The way GDID works right now is that you can technically delete it but Windows will automatically redownload it from MS servers.
I'll need to do some testing to make sure total deletion and blocking works.
I'll get back in a few days. If I succeed I will make another reblog with detailed instructions on how you can also replicate my steps to protect your privacy from Microslop.

Just saw a trans person arguing "no one is saying it's wrong to segregate society based on men and women, it's just treating trans people as a third gender that's wrong"
No bitch I'm saying that!!!! It's fucking weird to keep people so separate on the basis of gender. It's extremely strange to have such isolated spheres of society, and to pretend there's some inherent hard coded difference, when we're all just people.
We're never going to get rid of all kinds of misogyny while reinforcing the idea that women and men need to be segregated away from each other at every turn. It might be normalised right now, but it will never be fucking normal to me.

Idea for a new Batman story: Bruce Wayne reads one of those "Why doesn't Bruce Wayne just use some of his rich money to fix all the bad stuff" internet posts and is like "What the hell, I'll give that a shot" and starts opening a bunch more co-ops and mutual aid societies and whatnot, and then the excitement and action is him trying to dodge the team of CIA assassins who are trying to kill him and have it ruled a suicide. Batman has to figure out a way to stop the GabbaGhoul from poisoning all the cured meats in Gotham or wtf ever bullshit while billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne is called to testify before HUAC.
I'll probably stand alone with this but if facing consequences for not doing the most basic things to be a reliable person, like being on time and doing your work, is considered crazy nowadays, let's just say that explains a lot.
(And no, I won't add obvious exceptions here, because I believe in the existence of common sense. If you want to get me wrong, that's on you.)
There’s already the consequences of getting a bad grade. When adults are late getting their stuff in at job they don’t get put in baby jail. They just face normal social and professional consequences of their actions. Why is it acceptable to add afternoon jail on top of the regular consequences when the person is twelve?
This is in every way less important than its effect on kids, but detention is also massively inconvenient for parents -- which is of course the goal. The intended actual punishment isn't "Sit in a room after school for an hour"; it's "Inconvenience your parents so THEY'LL punish you more harshly than the school is allowed to."
i find it so off-putting when adults demand a child-free public. being disappointed that there are too many kids at an all-ages event, demanding adult-only events in otherwise public spaces. like you want to go to some arts & crafts thing but you're going to be weird about it if there's a 7-year-old at the table with you? or act like sharing the same public space and being slightly inconvenienced by noise is the same thing as being forced to do childcare?
like. we are in a political moment where minors are pushed out of SO many physical and digital spaces. and instead of recognizing that as a crisis - a public health emergency, even - so many adults are just willing to go along with that if it suits their sensibilities.
especially having visited so many other countries where children are more accommodated in public, or at least just accepted as a part of public life... the extent of age-segregated infrastructure in the US is just so fucking weird to me and it makes life SO much harder. for kids and for caregivers. and it's kind of a self-feeding cycle - once it's normal to have kid-free museums and malls and event centers, etc etc, adults who are not active caregivers hardly ever check in to make sure there are enough accessible services for kids. they kind of just assume that there are (or don't care one way or another), and they keep demanding more and more age segregation.
and it's a kind of grief i have to carry around all the time, knowing how much better it could be if people gave a singular shit about kids. like i said i've experienced so many other societies where it's Not Like This and adults still somehow manage to survive. but adults here in the US don't care, they don't see these preferences as discriminatory against an oppressed class, and i'm the one who comes off looking crazy when i bring it up.
OP: The carp leaping over the dragon gate 鲤鱼跃龙门 is a classic Chinese folk symbol. It stands for people overcoming hardships to achieve success. We often use it to wish others a bright future and smooth progress. If you spot a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate, good luck will come your way.

AU: Patriarchal husbands enact a massive censorship and surveillance state apparatus to keep their wives from escaping or being corrupted. Everyone's movements must be monitored and tracked in case a wife tries to escape her husband. Media is censored of all potential eroticism, just in case women get too hormonal and horny, and potentially cheat on their husbands. Media is required to have explicitly pro-obedience themes, so women don't get any subversive ideas about rebelling against their husbands' authority. These policies are framed as "protecting women."
Many unmarried men object to this. Why should they be censored or surveilled for the sake of another man's wife? "Fuck them women!" is their rallying cry. "It's husbands' job to control their wives, not mine! Women are disgusting, anyway. Why should I give up my freedom for the sake of your gross, hysterical, hormonal, shrill, menstruating wife? I didn't choose to be saddled with that smelly, whiny bitch."
From a far corner, a lone voice expresses a fringe, extremist opinion: "I think you're both wrong, actually. What if women are just people? What if they actually should be able to read whatever they want, and even disobey or leave their husbands if they choose to, because they're people, not property? And if your only objection to women's oppression is that it affects you, or that they're 'disgusting' and you shouldn't have to be reminded of their existence, you're also part of the problem. Both of your factions should just stop being misogynistic."
The pro- and anti- surveillance factions turn to the fringe extremist and say, in unison, "Why do you want access to other men's wives? To rape them? You pervert!"
anon hater just accused me of (among other things) "encouraging kids to install malware on their parents' computers". I don't remember ever doing that but it sounded like a fun concept for a post so here are some ideas for things to install on your parents' computers!
a custom DNS resolver that blocks access to Fox News and other right-wing propaganda outlets
a keylogger to capture the admin password for your router so you can disable parental controls
a VPN or a virtual machine running the Tor browser to bypass access restrictions and age verification checks
your own "parental controls" browser extension, set up to send you notifications if your parents visit websites that indicate they might be spying on you (e.g. Life360)
a userscript that adds a fake virus warning popup to the donation pages of fascist political parties
have fun! make sure to do loads of reading and learn how things work so you can break them safely and effectively!
oh, and anon, my advice to you is never stab a man who collects knives
couple people have asked about the phrase "never stab a man who collects knives". it didn't come from anywhere special, it's just something I made up. I was going for the energy of like, central European proverb you heard from your surprisingly hardcore grandma. it means don't attack someone with something they're going to enjoy getting
What do you mean? Environmentalists have been beating the "golf courses are ecological nightmares on multiple levels" my entire life! I had Ranger Rick comics about the harm caused by their pesticide use back in the 1990's.

if i couldn't have any of the obvious first choice superpowers i would want my power to be the power of i can go anywhere and its not a problem. the way this power would work is that as long as im peaceful and respectful i can go anywhere and nobody will see it as weird or see me as a target for hostility. i can walk into a cool house to politely peep the decor or walk into a tall office building to politely peep the decor or walk around a city at night alone to politely peep the decor or walk into a strange facility to politely peep the decor or walk onto a plane and ride the plane to its destination and then walk around there to politely peep the decor and its fine as long as im chill. no need to make me faster or anything i can just walk at a normal pace. its good for the soul.
if you are a parent, or may become one, or you are otherwise likely to arrive in the situation of caring for a child while they eat, promise me this: if a child doesn't like a certain food or food group, you will ask them WHY. and specifically, you will pay attention to either confirming or ruling out "it makes my mouth itch" or "it makes my stomach hurt," both of which are medically important info that children may not provide unprompted. which i know because this PSA has been brought to you by "i spent my entire childhood and much of my early teens eating peas and lentils while wondering why everyone else liked the Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation so much, like were they a bunch of legume masochists or something, before i finally realized that Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation was in fact a sinister demon appearing only to me, and her true demonic name was: Legume Allergy"
Additionally, I'd like to add that many children, especially young children, will register an "itchy throat" sensation as itchy ears. (not just children! I was 17 when I made the connection myself for the first time.) The inner ear and throat can be hard to distinguish unless dizziness is involved, and this is doubly true if the person in question has interoception issues. Like above, a child may not volunteer this information. Don't just ask if their mouth or throat itches. If you suspect a food allergy, ask about the ears too.
