so grace is probably alarming to most eridians at first because he's a lanky wet alien with too few limbs, yes--but what if he ends up being terrifying in a sort of divine way instead of a repulsive one?
like. a creature that perceives the intangible? a creature that walks with thin permeable membranes bared to the air, whose blood contains elixir that can destroy pathogens without heat? a creature that is impossibly fragile yet resilient? a creature that breathes potently flammable gas to survive? a creature that is loud all over and speaks in a strange and frightening monotone, who thought it would die for you? who gave up its home in the heavens for you without meeting you first, whose first words to your people were probably something along the lines of We saved your star. It's gonna be okay. Don't be afraid.

I will say I HATE how "trying for a baby" is reduced to "fucking raw and often" by so many people AND assumed only a thing cishet people do. There are a variety of queer and transgender situations that can result in pregnancy. Even wanted pregnancy.
Anyways. "Trying for a baby" generally means more like "we have made a decision to add someone to our family and have made quite a few changes in our life for it."
Gonna go over the process in detail under the cut. Keep in mind it covers infertility and speaks frankly about invasive genital stuff in a medical context.
For example, I had to quit all my vices and start changing the way I cooked and ate because certain foods and herbs can raise your risk of miscarrying an early pregnancy. Then I went to a maternal fetal specialist to clear my medications for pregnancy or help me change to safer ones and my regular doctors approve my body to carry a pregnancy. This was disability specific but who is fully abled these days? Then I had my birth control removed, in my case it was a minor procedure because I used nexplanon.
Then I started using ovulation predictor strips, which is pretty normal these days for people who are "trying for a baby" this involves pissing in a cup almost every single morning, dipping a test strip in the piss, waiting 5 minutes, then trying to decipher whether or not the test line is darker than the control. Thank FUCK there's an app for that.
After THAT, if it IS darker than the control line, you MUST have sex as much as possible in the next 48 hours. It doesn't matter if you're tired. If you hurt, if you're stressed. If you don't fuck raw and often, you've blown it. you've missed your chance for the next month, maybe more if you struggle with periods. If you DIDN'T miss your chance, then have fun being anxious the next two weeks wondering if this will be the cycle, if maybe things will work correctly this time. Then either your period starts and you start the process over when it's done or you got lucky and are now horribly sick and your legal personhood might be in a precarious position depending on where you live.
And, if you're in the unlucky percentage of people dealing with infertility, like me, after a YEAR of this they might start trying medications that will fuck with your hormones and make you feel Bad. They'll also want to do something called a transvaginal ultrasound, which is performed with an 8 inch wand. Or they'll inject dye into your cervix to see if your tubes are clogged.
Or they'll clean your partners sperm and inject it into your cervix every cycle the same way they did the dye. Then they'll blame your infertility on the weight you gained from the fertility medications that you took after a year of infertility. Finally, about two years in, they might do a simple blood test and find out you probably haven't been releasing eggs this whole fucking time because you're intersex and will likely need more help. Or maybe that's just me.
Like yeah, we're fucking raw and nasty. And its fun sometimes, but goddamn am I tired of people who can't even understand that queer people get pregnant too trying to say that "trying for a baby" is an announcement of "we're fucking raw and often" and not "we're going through a physically and emotionally difficult but hopefully rewarding time in our life."
This Pride, make sure every trans woman that you follow, are mutuals with, goon over, or consume their work in general, has a roof over their head, their bills paid, and food in their kitchens.

sorry to be a broken record every month but christ menstruation is a stupid concept. oooooh excuse me for not getting pregnant, why the fuck is there goo falling out of me about it? grow the fuck up and reabsorb that shit for nutrients.
choosing to play oppression olympics isnt just mean and inconsiderate. like I feel when you call ppl out for it theyre like "does it hurt your feelings that I said your privileged?" like no you are actually doing some serious damage to your own cause
like the recent estrogen legislation. estrogen should never be made a controlled substance. everyone should have easy access to gender affirming care, including DIY. but when people try to spread awareness for this serious issue by acting like trans men arent as affected by institutional transphobia, it just becomes an argument about disinformation, because testosterone is ALREADY a controlled substance. I want estrogen to remain an uncontrolled substance because I want to save trans women from the bullshit than trans men have been having to deal with for over 30 years. and then you have a bunch of people arguing about this bullshit with each other while the law just plods on thru the government and everyone loses.
recently I saw a person talking about the recent, tragic murder of Juniper Blessing. but instead of honoring her memory, this person said that trans men dont experience the same danger. and of course that caused people to bring up the also very recent murder of Luca Redbeard. Both these violent hate crimes and murders happened THIS MONTH and it makes me sick that the trans community cant even honor their memories properly because theyre too up their own asses arguing about who has privilege and social power over the other, instead of seeing that we are all living the same fucking nightmare
