We don't talk enough about how Gina Bellman was playing the femme fatale in her 40s in 2008. Do you know how rare it was to see women over the age of 40 portrayed as desirable? It was (sometimes still is) common for women to be cast as love interests for men 10-20 years older than them because men were allowed to age but women weren't. Like Bradley Cooper was paired with Jennifer Lawrence for a romcom when she was 22 and he was 37 (and no, the age gap was not the point of the movie) because God forbid they give him an old, decrepit, hag in her thirties.

Just watched wake up dead man and as a person with chronic pain I really appreciated Simone's portrayal. She is not stupid for listening to Wick's promise, she's desperate. And her ending almost had me in tears. Her happy ending is not being "fixed", her faith in god doesn't cure her but Simone draws on her faith to keep pushing. While I'm not religious, I know how hard it can be to keep pushing through chronic pain and seeing that struggle in a movie made me feel so less alone
