good:

it was better than dual destinies!

seriously that’s sort of a low bar but it’s true!

I really loved the sprites and animations, they looked really good!

there were so many female villains which I love because I’ve always loved the female villains in AA

honestly it was just fun and engaging and that’s a really important thing

the 6-5 plot twists owned me

seriously, I got owned so hard

no culprits really surprised me but that wasn’t necessarily disappointing

6-2 was my favorite probably and I really loved all the continuity references

and it makes me really want a direct apollo justice 2 sequel

apollo finally got a past which is cool?

nayuta is beautiful

finally they have learned that the way to get us to care about a new character from apollo’s past is by actually making them do stuff before dying

ga’ran is cool and my evil mom

and armie is my daughter, along with rayfa

although a lot of characters and plot elements seemed borrowed from past games, I still enjoyed them? maybe this should go under “bad”

I enjoyed ga’ran as a mastermind, I saw it coming but it was still fun and she has a lot of stage presence

bad:

the series now really suffers from having a very crowded cast I think

like, they just keep adding more recurring characters and giving them weird cameos

which is fun but also rarely does those characters justice?

I don’t dislike apollo’s backstory but also it seems obvious to me that they just did it to tie his lack of a past in with the game’s main plot?

like it’s not something you would naturally come up with based on what we already knew about him

a lot of the motives were, like, just a little bit weak. the only really good ones were 6-3?

this might just be personal preference but I found nayuta’s reason for being the way he is kind of underwhelming?

like he does bad things to protect a loved one, we’ve seen that so many times already in AA

I would’ve bought that he was trying to save rayfa’s reputation if we’d actually seen examples of him being treated badly because of his father. we don’t actually see any of the difficulties he went through

khura’in was honestly....not all that compelling?

and I’m mad that apollo is staying there and I hope he comes back

the nitpicky:

why doesn’t nayuta have a smiling sprite. like, a big, pure ^_^ smile. please. he deserves to smile

also he could’ve used another despair/shock sprite I think

and why was his “hold it” not voiced? he’s the MAIN PROSECUTOR

I know my negatives list looks long, but overall I really did enjoy the game a lot! It reminded me how much I love this series, and, considering I came in with very low expectations, really was a pleasant surprise. definitely worth buying on release day!
