Maxi, I was going to through our family albums and stumbled across this lovely collage. I remember the day you told me I was going to be a father; It was about a month after you asked me to marry you. You set up my cameras all over the house and snuck up behind me, holding one and holding a pregnancy test out to me, a solemn look on your face. I was confused until I looked down and saw the result was positive. I couldn’t believe it. I was thrilled beyond words. The woman I loved was having my child. I kissed your belly and held your hair over the loo and you held me in your arms as we cried together over the moment that changed out lives, all which you perfectly captured on film for our home video collection that started on our first date. I also remember when I found out that we were having twins. I was a twin and you were a triplet, so it only made sense. And, then...And, then you gave me the boxes to tell me that we were having a boy and a girl. It was the moment when I knew that I was going to be a father for the rest of my life and I couldn’t have been happier. Now, they’re growing up and six is a scary age, but we can handle it. I know we can. I love our family. Our kids: Esther Abigail Ericks and Harold Bradford Ericks. And I love you, Maxine Kennedy Harding-Raymond-Ericks. With all my heart, Elephant.
Forever yours,
Walter Reid Ericks (Scruffy)
