there was one time, though. while wally was out on the field for this year's homecoming game, you convinced him to let you keep it warm during those two hours.and that’s where the jacket lay, across your shoulders.

that was until wally ran up to you and, without hesitation, begged for it back. you couldn’t take it personally. as much as you wanted to. it was wally, and if it comforted him, you weren’t going to complain.

but inevitably, you had had enough. seeing the other girls strutting down the hall with their boyfriends' jackets made you just the tiniest bit jealous. but you’d never admit that to him. wally was going to give you his jacket, whether he wanted to or not.

it was on a random tuesday morning when you decided to head to school slightly earlier than usual.

you methodically turn the dial to the simple three-digit combo, 03-06-01. you hurried, worried wally was, by some miracle, going to show up early.

you hadn't bumped into wally all morning and although you were eager to surprise him, you decided to touch up in the bathroom first. you wanted to make an entrance.

as soon as you stepped into the classroom, you caught wally’s gaze. you interrupted his conversation with one of his teammates, completely ignoring anything coming out of his friend’s mouth. his jaw practically fell to the floor.

you tried your best to act nonchalant as you took a seat in front of wally, politely apologizing to mr. reed for your tardiness.

his minty breath was a stark contrast to the heat of the kiss. his lips, soft and inviting, were your absolute favorite thing about him, second to his everything. he was intoxicating as his tongue slipped between your pouty lips. you let out a small yelp as he brought his hands down to your ass, which his jacket covered ever so slightly.

the light coming from the small crack of the door illuminated his eyes just so. you could tell he was hungry for you.

“i got tired of seeing every other girl wearing theirs," you tell him with a hint of annoyance. “i figured i’d take it into my own hands.” you sigh dramatically.

“i’m sorry y/n,” he says softly, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. you can tell he’s sincere. it makes you feel lousy about what you did. your boy didn't mean to hurt you.

“i wanted to ask if you'd wanna wear it," he begins, his tone a mix of anticipation and nervousness. "all the guys have been asking their girlfriends. i was just waiting for the perfect moment.” he finishes.

“i’m sorry,” you start to explain, feeling even worse. “sorry for what, baby?“ he interrupts.

trying not to give it a second thought, he asks “what do you need, hun?”. his voice drips with longing. he makes you utterly weak.

what you were about to do would be just as painful for you as it is for him.

the smile on his face was unlike any other. god this was gonna break your heart.

milo, as eager as ever, very quickly puckers his lips and looks down towards yours. he leans in, and once again, you turn your head to the right. the small kiss makes you smile as you pull away from him. his eyes are full of sadness now. he goes in for another, but this time you look up to the ceiling.

you couldn’t help but finally let out a laugh. all milo could manage was a breathy “what are you doing?”. his voice had just the slightest bit of annoyance now. that was definitely unusual for him.

he takes another second to look at you. his face is full of all the confusion in the world as he scans your face. you go to let out another cheeky laugh, but are quickly cut off by his pink lips.

it’s a deep kiss, like he’s putting everything in him into it. those two months of being away from you are coming out even more than the day he got back. you didn’t think that was possible.

his tongue gently touches yours. he tasted lightly of the coffee you two had shared earlier this morning. he breathes you in as his grasp becomes firmer around your waist.

you try to pull away from him, ready to spill your secret, but his hand trails up and reaches the back of your head. and you don’t fight it as you sink into him. he was so yummy.

but it was mel’s birthday. you had to make her happy.

“i already got your gift, you doof.” “then if you truly love me, you would come.” a heavy sigh was all you could let out.

“fine.” you give in. “yay! thank you i’ll text you the deets when the time gets closer.” she almost squeals. “i’ll be on the edge of my seat.” you respond sarcastically.

you had a week to get it together. or rather, milo had a week to get it together.

“we’re here, bitch.” you let out a chuckle as you make one last walk through your apartment. your bag hung off your shoulder, bumping into everything as you walked by. “i’ll be out in a sec.” you respond. “hurry.”

you take a deep breath as you reached your front door. you can do this y/n.

you lock up the place as slowly as you could, wanting to delay the confrontation. and walking down to the car was awkward. you knew everyone was staring. he was staring.

you hear a car door open and slam. mel walks around the car to greet you with a smile. she makes everything worth it. she pulls you into a tight hug, squeezing you slightly. you follow her lead as she whispers a small “thank you.”

you nod you head as she pulls away. she walks you over to the trunk of the large suv. she pounds her fist on the back window, making you laugh. the trunk pops open and you see dozens of other bags. some grocery and others personal. she takes your bag and sets it down on the pile. after shutting the door, she turns to you.

you take a second to read her face. she seems nervous as she lets out a breath. “so,” she fiddles with her fingers. “so?” looking up at you she responds, “you’re sitting next to milo. i’m sorry.”

you close your eyes, bringing your hand up to pinch the bridge of your nose. you let out a defeated laugh as you simply nod your head. “okay, let’s do this.” you say. clapping your hands trying to get yourself hyped. the only way out is through, you remind yourself.

you follow after mel, opening the door for yourself. you keep your eyes down for as long as possible. but unfortunately, you couldn’t stay like that forever. you bring your eyes up to him. he was looking at you. you weren’t sure what to do.

“hi,” you pipe up, sliding into the seat and closing the car door. “hey,” he says, adjusting himself to give you room. you can feel your nervous smile on your face. “hey guys,” you greet everyone, looking around the car. jack turns around from the drivers seat to smile at you. jenna leans over milo, reaching over to you with a squeal. you squeal along with her.

however, your fun was quickly interrupted as milo cleared his throat as you two got too close to him. you pulled away from jen with a huff.

“let’s hit the road!” mel almost screams from her seat, proceeding to turn up the music.

this was gonna be fun.

“do you have to comment on everything?” milo says, almost under his breath. you take a second to look at him like he’s the dumbest person on the planet.

only two hours into your four hour drive and he’s already driven you up the wall. he looks straight ahead to the icy road.

you cock you head to the side as you respond, “do you have to come along to everything.”

“y/n.” mel says sternly from the passenger seat, turning her neck to look at the two of you. “he’s the one with the problem.” you respond, crossing your arms and sliding just a little bit more into the car door. you couldn’t stand him.

milo just sighs from his seat.

it felt so good to stretch your legs. you had finally made it to the cabin and everyone was rushing to unload everything to escape the cold faster.

it was when you were deciding where to put your bag when you remembered there was only two bedrooms. meaning only two twin size beds. how was this gonna work?

“hey mel,” you pull her to one of the bedrooms. “what’s up?” she asks nonchalantly. “what’s up? how is this gonna work?” you ask, voice slowly raising at the thought of sharing a sleeping situation with milo.

you gesture toward the bed. “oh shit, yeah.” she takes a long look at the room, biting her lip in contemplation. “okay, well, jack and i can share a bed obvi. and i know jenna is gonna whine if she doesn’t get her own bed.”

she turns to you, scared to see your face. you took a minute to stare at her in disbelief. “oh my god.” you say just above a whisper. “so that leaves you and mi to share the pull out in the living room.” her hand comes up to find our shoulder.

“i’m gonna kill you. i’m gonna kill milo and then you,” you say, the realization of having to share a bed with milo for a week hitting you.

“please, y/n. can we have a good time? that’s all i ask for. for me please.” she says, puppy dog eyes shutting you up. you give in once again. “if you were anyone else i’d say no.” she pulls you into a tight hug. “you’re breaking the news to him, though.” you tell her before prying her off of you.
