You cannot a single article, interview or advice from any entrepreneurship medium without coming across that famous line: 

“Start small, dream big.”

The entire entrepreneurship world shouts this in your ear. And the omnipresence of tremendous success (in startup media but also on social platforms like Instagram) creates the illusion of everyone else hitting the jackpot. 

I admit, I always liked and followed this rule of starting and dreaming. 

But here is the trick about this: I find it tremendously difficult to start small and dream big without being depressed, unhappy disappointed…all the time! 

Because: whatever you achieve is/feels like just a small piece, a stepping stone, a preseason win…

The problem: 

It is impossible to celebrate your successes… You cannot acknowledge the way you’ve come… Never really get there… - because you learned to dream soooo BIG.

Because you are shooting for Pluto instead of for the moon it often feels as you would never leave the launch pat not matter how fast you fly!

It is definitely tough to stay patient, keep hustling, never stop pushing, … - and not feeling miserable along the way. 

But we (the dreamers) all share this and I have not come across any alternative yet.
