“You must be a comic-exclusive character then because I don’t recall seeing you in Spider-Verse.” He responded with a laugh. “I hope you’ll use your powers for good as well.”

“Then it’s a good thing you conveniently had a rare, natural-born talent and the equipment to use it?” He smiled as he tilted his head.

“I’m a performer. Appearances are crucial. Perhaps my priorities would be inverse if I stabbed people in alleyways as a teenager.”

“I find it more appropriate to have a limited wardrobe, but with a bit more invested in each article. Dressing nice is important, in my business. Nonetheless, no matter how many complaints I hear, there’s nothing I can do about my ‘everything’.”

“Like….’this’?” Nori parroted, looking down. “Are you referring to my clothes? I bought them in Japan.”

“…” He paused for a moment, just staring at the other. “Well, I suppose I can’t argue with that.”

“No?” Nori responded, tilting his head curiously. “I’ve lived with my dad in Japan for the past six years.”

“Your worry won’t cause me to act any differently than I do by default.” And nor has anyone else’s, as the other members of Secret could unfortunately attest.

“Because worrying has never stopped unfortunate events from happening.” He shrugged.

“No, not particularly.” He answered, shaking his head. “I do understand why most would be concerned, although I’m sure I’ll be alright. You shouldn’t worry.”

“Because I haven’t wandered through here before, and I supposed I’d get to see something new.” He responded matter-of-factly, “And I was correct to assume as much, considering what I saw just a few minutes ago.”

“Although that was clearly a joke, it’s a fair criticism.” He gratefully accepted his notebook, putting it away for now. “For the most part, yes. Just writing things down can also change how you process them. No one else sees them, if it’s any reassurance.”

“No, I’m neither. I write down anything I see that I find interesting because human memory tends to leave gaps that it fills with false information.” He held his hand out as though this should be reassuring enough. “May I have that back now?”

“Ah- That’s not nice.” He says to the guy he just saw stab someone. He wrote down exactly what he saw. Empirical evidence is key, after all. The same page also includes other things he witnessed that day, a few of which were also crimes.

“That’s incredible. You’ve accomplished something logic would assume could only happen in movies.” Nori pulled a small notebook and pen from his pocket, quickly jotting down a few notes for himself with the slightest of smiles. “I would ask if this happened often, but considering our current location, I think the answer is self-evident.”

“I’m alright. Although, I would be more concerned about you. You were the one involved in a fight, after all.”

Nonetheless, Nori accepted the help and pulled himself up to his feet. Had he not just seen this stranger attack someone with a bizarre knife, he would never assume he was capable of such a thing- but, having seen it after all, he got over his fall quickly.

“What is that weapon? How does it work? I’ve never seen something like that actually work.”
