In the mystic meadow, the biggest drama of the day is between Old Mrs Hedgehog and the Faerie Princess, after Old Mrs Hedgehog refused to bake 27 strawberries for the faerie princess' ball due to a fight she was having with Friar Fox who owned the Strawberry fields
Friar Fox had insulted old Mrs. Hedgehog on the summer solstice, claiming she had been the one to break into his wine cellar the night before because he found a quill in there, when everyone in the meadow knew Old Mrs Hedgehog had been in the company of the Wise Owl that night. It was so rude that since that day, she's refused to buy his strawberrys
The thief was of course cousin Helga Hedgehog, Old Mrs Hedgehog's cousin from the frosted woods, you would know this if you had looked at the quill in the wine cellar, Helga always wore her bristles long, with raspberry dyed tips, The quill in the cellar was red. Friar Fox of course ignored this, saying it was red from the wine she had stolen, when as previously said, Old Mrs Hedgehog was with the Wise Owl all of that night
This is of course getting off topic, the real tea is as always with the Faerie Princess, who has since the ball refusal, called upon all her subjects to buy their baked goods from the Groundhogs, who bake a subpar blueberry cobbler, at best.
Last I saw Old Mrs Hedgehog, she was crying to the Oak Pixie about how Cornelius Rabbit had been calling her, saying she was behind on rent for her burrow and that he might have to find a new tenant since the Faerie princess had called for a boycott of her bakery

Anybody else see the Progressive car insurance ads with Mayhem and think 'hello there Loki'? I honestly believe that entire ad campaign was inspired by Flame-hair. The gecko was cute but Mayhem is *hilarious*. UPG? or coincidence? Why not both? LOL

trying to piece together full thoughts on this, but I hate the way "folk magic" is conflated with morality online. folk magic, while often "for the folk", is not always ethical, not inherently anti-fascist, not virtuous by default. re: the amount of formulas in svartkonstböcker that revolve around controlling women.

Many people in the comments are saying “trauma”, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. It’s called Childhood Amnesia, and it’s a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to “trick” your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories - their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It can’t be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is “stored in the body”, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories won’t generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.

Hi, welcome back.
This is something that's been sitting in my drafts for a while and it's essentially; "Are we too focused on the gods? Or not enough?" which is something I think about from time to time. I have another draft of my personal cosmology that I'll post once I'm happy with it, but this post is an opinion and probably just some food for thought. So, let's go!
In my practice, when it comes to veneration, it generally goes something like:
Ancestors first, especially the ones I knew (sorry great-great-grandpa, but I know my dad better lol)
Then the gods. Usually Thor, Odin, or Freyja, sometimes a general "to the Æsir". I may talk to a different deity for something specific (for instance, Hel to wish someone who's passed safe travels and warm lodgings).
And I do like to thank the vættir/sprits of the house, or the land if I'm outside, for letting me do my thing in their space. I think of them like roommates in my house, or if I'm out in nature, I consider it their property, and thank them for letting me be there peacefully.
That's kind of the order or "hierarchy" (for lack of a better term) when I do any venerations.
