there's a story where leonard cohen was hesitant to introduce j.m. to camus etc at her request because it might tarnish the innocence of her songwriting, or whatever, but relented, and when she read camus she judged him for lifting lines from it

people think it's bad that joni mitchell started smoking at age 9 and went from ethereal folk singer to deep voiced pop jazz artist but i think it's the most appropriate thing to happen in the world. everyone is just so afraid of aging and personal evolution in general. grow up already
