D-Day; Album Release!

Day 1; Wishes for Voisper

This whole post can be summed up by one thing; To do well.

Now let me break it down a little more. 

Of course, as a fan of an idol group we naturally want them to do well in terms of their music. We want them to be recognised for their talent, we want people to listen to their songs and buy their albums and vote for them on shows. 

We also want to see them get popular, have their name be known so when we say “Voisper is having a comeback” we don’t get the usual response of “who?”. Imagine them being invited to reality shows, interviews and other things more popular idol groups get to do for exposure. 

Naturally for me, one thing I want for them is to meet more idols and make more friends. Because coming from a small company with not a lot of people knowing about them can make it difficult. The most we have had is when they guested on radio shows at the same time as Vromance and Matilda, and when KNK introduced them way back in 2016 during one of those “after show” monitoring programmes. 

But for me, when I say I want them to do well I mean it in another way too. I want them to be happy and healthy and keep doing what they love. I never want to see them having to make songs or do things that they weren’t happy with. That’s fortunately one thing about Evermore Music, is that they focus on the music and ensuring their artists are well looked after.

Day 2; Friendship Appreciation

One thing that makes this group stand out among all the hundreds of other idols groups active right now, besides their jaw-dropping vocals and harmonies, is their pure, sweet friendship.

For anyone who doesn’t know, these boys all met when they were in high school and became friends. Kangsan was the one who suggested they make a group because all of them loved music so much.

They participated on Superstar K-6 under the name “North Incheon 19″ since that’s where they were from and the age they were at the time. They shocked the judges with their matching socks and sandals that they wore on stage (and for their two year anniversary they released a mashup of songs they covered on the show while wearing the socks and slippers again...which I may have cried a little at).

When they first debuted, fans gave them friendship rings and matching socks that the boys all say they treasure as one of their favourite gifts they have ever been given. They also have friendship bracelets and it’s just the cutest thing.

Often when playing typical games that idols are made to do on camera (like the pepero game...) they have no qualms about getting very close and are not bothered in the slightest if their lips touch as long as that means they win. And here’s the proof.

Something else that is always hilarious is their interactions on SNS. All four members have their own instagram accounts and often leave comments under one anothers posts. But one of my all time favourite things they’ve done happened earlier this year. Basically, each member posted a photo of the four of them, but depending on who posted it they were either smiling handsomely or making the ugliest face they could. Naturally, this means we have four absolutely hilarious group pictures.

...yup, these are the boys I ult...We also got a pretty group picture though, so it’s all good.

I feel it’s important to point out that this wasn’t for a schedule or anything. There was an event of some sorts on and all the members just decided to go together, and then had an ugly face war which they posted on instagram...yup, true friendship right there.

Day 3; Vocal Appreciation

Long Post Warning!

Ok so before I go any further I just want to make something clear; I don’t call them my vocal kings for nothing. How it’s possible for four boys to come together and have their voices fit together in such perfect harmony is just...incredible. So in terms of appreciation, here are three of my favourite ever videos that showcase their amazing vocals.

1. Snow Flower Cover (Immortal Songs 2)

This song is already beautiful, and the boys singing it just touched my heart so much. I love how perfectly their combination of baritones and tenors just blend so easily during all their harmonies. It’s one thing that never fails to impress me in any of their songs and covers, the effortlessness of harmonizing together and making a beautiful song sound even more so. 

2. Missing U Live (Arirang Super K-Pop)

Ok so this was their original song released back in January, and it’s actually my favourite of all their songs vocally. It’s just a sweet and upbeat song that captures the winter vibe but in a warm way. What I really love about this song though, is that Kwangho - who usually sings the lower register notes - actually is in charge of the killing part high note! Not only that, but he KILLS IT! And of course, the vocals during the rest of the song are still perfectly on point the whole time, even while singing live and sitting in chairs.

3. Love In The Ice Cover 

This song is special to me anyway because they sang it when they were on Superstar K-6 and this is just an upgraded version (with upgraded vocals and visuals). Once again the most incredible thing to point out is their perfect harmony. How four unique voices can just sound so good together...the fact so many people have never listened to them is just criminal. They have so many covers and none of them ever disappoint.

Each of the four members have a beautiful and unique voice that are also incredibly versatile. Kwangho, who sings low can hit incredibly high notes too. Daegwang who is usually in charge of higher registers is also well capable of going low too. Kangsans breath control while singing falsetto notes is commendable, and Chunggi’s velvety deep voice always gives every song a feeling of togetherness. 

Day 4; Favourite Group picture 

Right I have so many faves for the group and I really struggled to choose so I have...several... 

First of all being bestest friends looking all aesthetic with cherry blossoms and being soft boys in comfy clothes.

But also, that time they won the trophy on Immortal Songs 2?? I cried, so of course this will be in here as a favourite.

But then their first fan meeting? I was so happy for them and everything went so well and aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!

AND THEN?!! Friendship bracelets!

Day 5; Favourite picture of Chunggi

H-he...looks so good in a leather jacket it just hurts me. Why does he have to be so cute and responsible? 

Day 6; Favourite picture of Daegwang

Look, I had one from Missing U era where he looks like the softest bean with a cute hat and everything...and then I remembered this one...and I think it perfectly describes his personality.

Day 7; Favourite picture of Kwangho

Our resident cutie pie!! I just love how soft he looks in this picture, it captures his flower boy nature! 

Day 8; Favourite picture of Kangsan

Ughhhh this was so difficult to choose!! Especially since he is our selfie king! I always loved this one though because it perfectly captures the autumn energy I get from him!

Day 9; MV Predictions

Since the comeback is titled “Goodbye to Goodbye” I think it’s going to be a beautiful slow ballad. Think somewhere between “Like the Moon and Stars” and “Summer Cold”. 

The track list for Voisper’s first album “Wishes” has just been released! There will be 10 songs released digitally, and two, including their pre-release single “I Believe”, which will be CD only.

The title track will be  “Goodbye to Goodbye” released on November 20th.
