Planting the Brackish Aquarium

There’s a bit of a misconception that many (perhaps most) freshwater plants are intolerant of salt and can’t be used in brackish or marine aquariums. This is somewhat exacerbated by the fact that few marine plants are ever seen in the trade, let alone established.

Rest assured that this is far from the truth and there are many options for brackish tanks aside from plain old Java Ferns. While high-end brackish conditions somewhat limit the number of plant species that can be used, it may surprise you to know just how many options there are for low end and mid brackish tanks.
