The Mummies of Guanajuato are a number of naturally mummified bodies buried during a cholera outbreak around Guanajuato, Mexico in 1833. Many of the bodies who buried instantly to control the spread of disease, although some were thought to be buried alive on accident. In 1870, the mummies started being exhumed after a law was enacted stating that families must pay a burial tax if they want their loved ones to remain buried. Those who could not afford it would have their loved ones’ bodies removed and placed in a museum. The museum still stands to this day.

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:

The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!

So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:

And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

It’s easier to see what I’m talking about in this photo of a man squatting:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:

But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!

In the past 3 months I've almost died twice. But yep, I totally "abandoned" the 4 people who so kindly took it upon themselves to block me because I wasn't messaging them daily, as if anyone is entitled to my attention. 4 people, that I cared about deeply. My art teacher in grade 8 had ADHD and was Bipolar on top of that and on the first day of class the first thing he told us was that sometimes he would yell at us without really meaning to. And he told us that if it ever happened to call him out because his mental illness didn’t give him the excuse to treat us like shit.
