Hvitserk Olafsson

Mary wished she could turn her brain off. Most of the conflict seemed to come from there, and she couldn’t tune it out, not by herself at least. Naturally though she was conflicted, feeling torn between emotions and questions about right or wrong. It wasn’t just the fear of giving her heart to someone again, it was also the conflict of whether she should or how long she ought to mourn before moving on. Just the entire concept of wholeheartedly moving on and leaving the past in the past.. was a struggle. Yet when their lips met, nothing felt more right. And blissfully the taste and feel of his lips turned her mind blank, putting up a wall between her present self and all of those confused and conflicted emotions and thoughts. Her breath came rattling out when their kiss ended, a little gaspingly so given that she had just pushed to use up all of her oxygen to make the kiss last. It probably wasn’t healthy or very smart but she’d felt entirely compelled to. “Really? Because I don’t want you to think I’m taking you for granted or that what you feel isn’t important to me. Baby steps.. yes.” she could not help but chew on her lips, entirely uncertain what the next step ought to be. When he apologized again she felt bad, but she nodded to show that she was hearing him. “I believe you.” It had all been a big misunderstanding, yet she didn’t entirely know what else to say. “Can I stay here tonight?” she finally asked. 

Hvitserk put his hands gently on her lower waist when they pulled back from the kiss. He just wanted to hold her, be close to her.....he never felt this way about someone before. In his culture, you married to have children, to continue your bloodline. It wasn’t necessarily about love. It was a strange concept to him, but yet with Mary it felt so simple. It felt so liberating. “I am fine, little one. Don’t worry about me. Worry about yourself. That is what’s important.” The viking said with a soft tone. The vampire nodded his head with a smile. “Of course. I don’t want you down in the cells. I never did. I would like to keep you back up here if that is what you want, but if you need more time I understand as well.” 

His reaction to her touch didn’t go unnoticed, and even though it was a risk to keep touching him like this, her fingers continued to rail the length of his abdomen. The feel of his icy skin against her fingertips was so soothing. Like before it gave her an instant feeling of serenity and comfort. Like she was home.. and yet she couldn’t help but wonder if some of the emotions he inspired in her had to do with his vampirism. All her most intimate and loving moments, she’d shared with vampires. Evan first, and now him. Was it possible she liked him so much because parts of him reminded her of her dead fiancee? Sure she knew there were plenty of other things about him that she liked that had little to do with what species he was. Like his tough attitude that she had somehow found a way to slip past or how smart he was or gods, how damn handsome. There were things he made her feel that no guy ever had. Yet their connection also kind of scared her. The whole concept of loving again scared her.. she’d lost so much the last time. Sure, some of what she had lost she had also been willing to sacrifice, like contact with her family or her best friend, but she had never expected to loose everyone she loved but Theo.. Or to loose her life to one of imprisonment. One could say that her heart was the one piece left she had yet to give. That was still hers to give.. Their close proximity made her feel slightly lightheaded as always, a slight tremble finding its way to her fingers, though she still didn’t take them back. It was kind of easier to keep a level head when she could glance at him every now and then but also look away when it became too much. Once he captured her face, she had no such reprieve. Once more she let him speak without interruption, allowing herself to take it all in before forming an answer. However, the feel of his lips on her skin cracked that last bit of restraint. When he withdrew, she moved in, catching his lips in a rather fervent kiss. When she eventually had to come up for air, her head was so scrambled that she had to take several deep breaths to find the words. “I like you a lot. More than anyone else.. and you’re right, my pace is a little different, a little slower. I’m.. kind of scared to love again and I might just need a little more time to work it all out. And I’m grateful that you’re not rushing me or expecting anything but.. I don’t want there to be any lies between us, and I’m trying to be as transparent as I can because you do deserve that. And much more..” she grimaced just a little. “I’m sorry for giving you such a hard time about something that was out of your control. That wasn’t fair.” 

Hvitserk continued to enjoy her touch. After weeks of pain and torture, her gentle touch soothed him and eased some of his pain. He could see the conflict in her eyes, like she did something wrong. He didn’t want her to feel this way, especially about something that she can’t help. Your heart chooses for you and at its own pace and he knew that. He would never judge her for listening to her heart. When she pulled him in for a kiss, he was a little surprised but it was definitely welcomed. Gods, he has missed those lips. He instinctively pulled his arms around her small frame and pulled her closer as they kissed for a couple of minutes. When they pulled back, because she had to take a breath, he leaned back a little to give her some space, but he kept his arms around her body, not wanting her too far away. “Then that is enough for me for now. I don’t want you to lie to me about how you fell but more importantly I don’t want you to lie to yourself. Baby steps, little one.” He said softly, placing a kiss on her forehead. “Don’t apologize for that. I shouldn’t have gone away without telling you where I was going. I am sorry I left you here, it won’t happen again.” 

The tips of her fingers shook, her whole body tense as she actively had to restrain herself to keep from reaching out to touch him. He had been so wounded, almost killed, yet here he was apologizing to her. None of it was fair.. he’d had no control over his disappearance, yet she couldn’t deny the effects of thinking she’d lost him, of thinking he didn’t want her and that it might even have been all too easy for him to leave her behind.. it was hard to convince herself none of those thoughts and beliefs were true. Hard to reset as if none of it had ever happened. She wasn’t strong like he was. Unlike him her youth meant that events like this one shaped her more firmly, changed her wether she wanted to or not. He’d had her blind trust before. Dazzled and marveling at how good he was to her and how at ease she’d always felt with him. None of her feelings for him had really changed, but she couldn’t help but hesitate when it came to trusting, or giving too much of herself. It could happen again.. this had all proved that he wasn’t invincible and undying. And it just reminded her of how suddenly she’d lost her fiancee. Of how he had been so cruelly taken from her. Of how painful it had been to be left heartbroken and alone.. “I wish there was more I could do.” she said, her restraint crumbling as she slowly and carefully reached out, her fingers brushing some of the mark on the skin of his torso. She tried to smile back, though it proved to be challenging given all the different emotions swirling within her. Never one with a decent poker face, Mary’s eyes widened with genuine shock at his statement. Said as if it was, or should be, painfully obvious to her and everyone else around. She felt stunned, utterly at a loss for words. Part of her felt compelled to argue. To come up with what felt like a million reasons for him not to love her. Another struggled a bit with the fact that it had happened kind of quickly. She’d never expected what they had to evolve like this. Never thought she’d get the chance to love another man again really.. Lastly came the struggle of saying it back. Could she do that without betraying Evan? Would allowing herself to love Hvitserk mean she had to love her dead fiancee any less? “I think I love you too.. I mean I’m just.. its all happening really fast and I do want to move past my grief and allow myself to give you my heart I’m just..” she fumbled, biting her lip. God he deserved a better response than that.. 

Hvitserk closed his eyes and released a soft sigh in relief when she finally reached out to touch him. He truly missed her touch even if was just for a couple of days. He knew the girl didn’t trust easily and he knew that by leaving he broke her trust and felt bad for doing so. He knew of her insecurities and when she said spoke so lowly of herself he wished he could take away all of her pain away. He took another step closer so that they were only inches apart. He hated being apart from her, his body craved to be close to her. The viking thought that maybe he had scared her with this confession but she asked him a question and he answered honestly. It happened quickly, he knew that as well, but his words were true. He loved her. He finally closed the distance between them and put his hands on her cheeks, making her look at him. “You don’t have to say it back if you don’t feel it. I don’t want you to rush yourself to open your heart again just because you feel like you owe anything to me.....you don’t. You owe it to yourself to be happy...at your own pace....nobody else’s. I will never lie to you, Mary, so I gave you an honest answer when you asked me a question. That’s all. I am not expecting anything.” He told her honestly, giving her a soft smile, before leaning down to kiss her cheek. 

A stab of guilt twisted her stomach in response to his gentle words, hearing his voice break forced the tears to spill down her cheeks. It took all the focus she had to refrain from making a sound, sobbing like she desperately wanted to. When she noticed he was moving to undress she opened her mouth to protest. No god he needed to keep his clothes on, otherwise she was going to have a whole other challenge on her hands. Yet as her eyes fell on the ugly marks marring his chest and torso, her mouth closed with an audible snap. “W-What are those?” she asked, even though part of her already knew. Someone had hurt him, badly. Mary’s eyes lingered on the marks and open wounds, quiet as he explained it all in detail. He’d been captured, tortured, targeted, tricked.. yet he had survived and returned. Her arms went around her own torso, hugging herself hard. How on earth could she possibly remain angry with him? There really was no way around it, she couldn’t keep holding a grudge for something he’d had no control over. For events that had been out of his control. Hearing how they had cruelly given him just enough to avoid killing him made the human girl shudder where she stood. How people, or creatures in general could be so cruel she would never understand. When he finished saying he had to see her, she finally did look at him. Eyes actively searching for his. “No I am the one thats sorry you had to endure so much pain. I wish I could take it all away..” she said, her tone softer than before. “But why me? Why do I matter after all of that?” 

Hvitserk looked down at his torso when Mary asked what those marks were. “The vervain will wear off in a few days and i’ll heal. I’ll be okay.” He said, trying to reassure her, despite the immense amounts of pain that were cursing through his whole body. He didn’t wanna scare her more than she probably already was. The viking took a step closer to the small woman, not close enough to scare her but close enough to feel calm by her presence. He longed to reach out and just take her into his arms but he knew he couldn’t do that right now. “You just being here makes me already feel a lot better.” He told her honestly, giving her a small smile. He frowned when she spoke so lowly of herself. He hated when she did that but he understood that he broke her trust and she blamed herself for that. “Because I love you.” He said simply as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

It was difficult to see him hurt and broken down somehow, yet being unable to help. If anything Mary was certain that she was only adding to his hurt. And while a selfish part of her felt like he might deserve that, another argued that she was being mean by simply thinking it, and that part was itching to try and turn things around. To find the right thing to say or do to make him feel better.. and yet she suspected the main thing that would make him feel better was her forgiveness, which she was struggling to give at the moment. At least not without hearing the entire story. Neither did she want to be one of those silly, weak girls who fell right back into the arms of a guy who had lied and left her behind. The sound of him groaning made her flinch, and she had to cross her arms in front of her chest to keep from instinctively reaching, pushing down the desperate need to soothe his pain. While she might be angry she detested hearing, seeing and knowing that he was hurting.. it made her feel incredibly guilty and quaeasy for some reason. Shuffling behind him back up to the apartment, she kept her eyes at her feet, not really all that eager to see the place she’d began to think of as home before it was ripped away from her. She’d felt safe here, as if she had a place to belong and a place to breathe and be herself. Yet now it just reminded her of all she had so suddenly lost. His plea made her jaw tense before her head shook stiffly, twice. “Please don’t ask me to..” she begged right back. “I am so hurt, but the second I do look at you I know I’m just going to f-fall to pieces.. a-and then I am going to want to forget e-everything and just forgive you and t-trust you again and hold you close even though I s-shouldn’t..” 

Hvitserk’s heart broke at her answer to his plea. “I won’t ask you then.” He returned gently, his voice breaking as the words left his mouth. Right now, he wished they could go back to how they were before he left. Happy and carefree. Now all he felt was pain, both physically and emotionally. The woman he loved couldn’t even look at his face because of his betrayal. He sighed before he went to take off his shirt, revealing the ugly marks the vervain has left on his body. They were beginning to heal but it was gonna be awhile until the magic wore off and the vervain left his systems. “It was supposed to be a simple meeting with an old friend....or at least i thought he was a friend. He betrayed me. He sold me out to a group of bandits I met centuries ago. Descendants from the man that killed my people. I killed him as an act of revenge and they have been hunting me since then, wanting to get their own revenge for killing their leader. Of course for vikings there can’t just be death to justify murder....there has to be torture. They have to enjoy their revenge.” He started, keeping his eyes on the ground so he could get through with his story. “So they kept me in a cell for weeks. Pumping my veins full of vervain just too little to kill me, but enough so they could torture me.” He told her, his wounds burning as he thought back to the cell. “I only survived because my friend had a change of heart and helped me escape.....I killed him for his betrayal and came back here....because I had to see you. I’m sorry, Mary. I truly am.” He said, swallowing hard as he finished his story.

Her life was beginning to look like a string of lies, and it was taking a toll. Seemingly everyone she loved either lied to her or concealed things from her. Whether it be her family lying about being hunters, Theo lying about both knowing about it and being one herself and now Hvitserk lying about being there for her. Granted it was slowly beginning to sound like the choice had been out of his hands, yet she still couldn’t manage to simply forgive and forget, much less trust that it wouldn’t happen again if she let him back in. Hell, she found it easier to believe the worst and that he wouldn’t even have the idea of claiming her again than whatever story he apparently had in store but did not want to share here. “But you chose to leave without telling me.” her tone raw with hurt. “I’m so sick of being lied to.. everyone lies to me..” Her throat began closing back up as tears were pushing at the corners of her eyes. And while part of her, a small petty one, wanted to refuse simply to be difficult and to make him feel it a little, she still nodded. “Okay.” The word barely above a whisper as she sat up and slid her feet into the plain, somewhat uncomfortable shoes she’d been set to wear since returning to unclaimed slave life. Getting to her feet, Mary weakly gestured for him to lead on, still not meeting his eyes. She was absolutely sure that if she did, she would crumble. And she was prolonging that as much as she could. 

Hvitserk closed his eyes once again when he heard the hurt in her voice. He hated himself for hurting her, someone he swore to protect at all cost....though he failed. He let her down and her pain was his fault. He nodded his head in response. “I did. I didn’t tell you that I was leaving and I am sorry about that. That was a mistake.” He said softly, knowing he should’ve told her. He could feel his own tears gathering in his eyes as he looked at the girl in front of him, so broken....because of him. He stood back up, groaning as his body screamed in protest at the sudden movement. He wished Mary would looked at him, he wanted to see her beautiful eyes though it would probably kill him to see them full of hurt. He lead them up to their apartment, sighing when they entered. He hasn’t been here since he left, as he went straight to Mary when he returned. “Can you please look at me?” He asked, almost begged, not standing the thought of her hating him.

Mary hadn’t thought she’d ever want to be happy again, or even want to live before Hvitserk had come into her life. He had made her feel safe in ways only her dead fiancee had been able to. Made her believe that she had a future after all. That maybe she could make a life with someone who wasn’t Evan. And then he had disappeared. Just like that. Up in smoke with all her hopes and small dreams. What was the point of hoping and dreaming? Of breathing even? The second she had been shipped back she had struggled, quietly hoping that one of the guards would hit her too hard or drop her on her head so that her misery could end. Unfortunately neither one of those things had happened. She was still alive, still locked up for being the daughter of hunters. 

While she refused to meet his gaze, her eyes still took stock of his exterior. His all too beautiful body that did not seem to be unscathed. It made her frown slightly, barely able to keep her hands where they lay across the pillow. Noticing how he winced and seemed to carry himself differently, she could tell that something was off. “What are you sorry for?” she asked, releasing a small, sad sigh. “Let me guess, you got bored with me.. just like I predicted.” 

Hvitserk closed his eyes and sighed, sadness filling his heart as he listened to Mary’s words. Sadness that he let her think that he didn’t care about her. That couldn’t be further from the truth. If it were up to him he wouldn’t have left in the first place. A single tear escaped his eyes before he found his composure and opened his eyes again to look at her. “Mary....” He whispered. He rarely used her name, usually referring to her as his ‘little one’, but right now he needed her to listen to him. “I will never get bored of you. You light up my life in ways I never thought possible.” He told her honestly. “I’m sorry that you’re back down here because I wasn’t strong enough to escape.” He apologized again. “I’m sorry I left, but I was supposed to be back before you even knew that I was gone. But something went wrong and I....” He stopped himself. “Will you come up with me to our room so we can talk and I can explain it to you? I don’t wanna have this conversation down here.” 

Upon your return | Hvitserk&Mary

One glance told Mary all she needed to know. Even at a sideways glance while lying down the viking was impossible not to recognize, as was the contrite expression he wore. She’d quietly hoped he would give her some time if he were to ever return. Some time to simply know he was back and to adjust to and prepare for the encounter they were about to have. The second they’d come to take her back, and strip her of all the belongings she had gotten the short time while in Hvitserk’s care, Mary had felt like a fool. Naive and stupid for believing his promises. For thinking some sort of permanence with him was possible. He had lulled her into a false sense of security, and then decided to take off. Trust had been broken. And for someone who trusted so easily such a break was that much harder to handle. 

A small sigh escaped her lips hearing the cell door creak open. Other than that though, the blonde did not utter a single word, nor would she look at him. A large part of her wondered why he had returned of course, yet she refused to ask or grovel for him to take her back.

Hvitserk felt horrible. Guilty. Sad. Emotions he hadn’t felt in a very long time. But then again, Mary has been making him feel a lot of emotions he hasn’t felt in a really long time lately. As he was limping down the basement, he was almost scared of her reaction. In her eyes, he just left after he promised to protect her. Though that wasn’t the entire story. He left because he had business to attend. It was only supposed to be a couple of hours and he would’ve been back before she knew he was gone. But it was a trap. A set up. They held him captive with magic and vervain and it took him a couple of days to break out. You can still see the effects of that magic and poison on his bodies as the vervain was still in his veins. Thorn Haven released his claim cause he didn’t respond to their calls and he’s been gone for so long. The first thing he did upon his arrival was to check on Mary.

When her cell door open he walked inside, crouching down on the floor beside her cot, though he kept his distance, not knowing how she might react. He winced, his body still wrecked, as he looked at her. “Little one.” He began in a whisper. “I am sorry.” 

Not waiting for him to wake up with her wasn’t out of impatience or a need to be alone. Honestly it was all about not jumping his bones before he was properly awake.. The first few mornings she had truly struggled with seeing the need to leave his bed at all. She’d woken up and found it impossible not to gaze upon the sheer glory that was his naked body next to hers, and both times she had ended up unable to keep her hands to herself.. which had lead other very pleasurable places in the end, but also made it even harder to get up to start the day. Most of the time though Mary was sure that she fancied Hvitserk a lot more than he fancied her. Which was completely understandable. She was a small, timid, often shy and nerdy human. Besides, her soulmate was dead. It was too much to ask that she’d get a second one. Despite the normal greeting, she blushed, though she found it natural to rest her chin on his shoulder as her eyes stayed on his and she responded. “All too well. How about you?” 

Hvitserk definitely enjoyed having Mary around all the time. He has grown even fonder of her over the past couple of weeks. He definitely enjoyed the physical aspect as well. She was getting a lot bolder and he loved to see that side of her. Though he could tell that there was something else. Something he felt as well but wasn’t ready to admit yet. This little human has captured a part of his heart that he wasn’t sure he was able to give. He was ruthless, a warrior.....he could never give her what she needed, so it was saver for the both of them not to entertain the idea of something more....no matter how he felt. Though he couldn’t help but treat her that way sometimes. When she rested her head on his shoulder, he placed his hand on her thigh, his thumb stroking over the soft skin. “Like a baby.” He said with a chuckle. They sat in silence for a couple of minutes before he spoke again. “I have something for you, little one.” 

The art of gift giving | Hvitserk&Mary

Slipping out of bed, as silently as she could and sliding into a camisole, Mary made her way to the kitchen, starting the nice morning ritual she had begun since finding  herself under Hvitserk’s roof. Making a cup of English breakfast tea while eating a few sugary crackers. She also had gotten in the habit of switching her new phone on and playing whatever classical tune of the week she was into, while moving to sit in the sunlight coming in the kitchen window once her tea was done. By the time she’d had two sips of her tea, Hvitserk emerged from the bedroom as well. “Good morning.” Mary brightly said, greeting him the moment their eyes met with a warm smile.

Hvitserk got out of bed and the first thing he did was stretch his sore muscles. He wasn’t surprised when he didn’t find Mary next to him as he has grown accustomed to her waking up before him. He put on some underwear before he walked out of the bedroom. He smiled at her when she greeted him before walking over and placing a soft kiss on her forehead. “Good morning, little one. How did you sleep?” He asked her as he sat down next to her.

Tatiana pinched the master’s cheek lightly, a smile on her face as she did so. “Nobody can blame you, I’m amazing.” the human teased, a concerned look crossing her features as the vampire kept on talking. “I told you, psychos. Raging ones, too. I am sure that she’ll be okay now, though, seeing that she’s under your protection. I’m assuming that the rest of these sadistic fuckers know not to mess with other people’s business.” Or, at the very least, she hoped so. Things could go terribly wrong for Mary if she ever so happened to stumble upon that gruesome man Hvitserk told her about.

Tatiana was one of the few people that could get away with pinching his cheek, without him ripping her throat out. He had a soft spot for her and she knew it. The vampire chuckled at her cocky reply. “You are indeed.” He was teasing her right back though there was definitely some truth behind his words. She was quite amazing. “If they mess with her they have to answer to me. And that won’t be pretty.” He said, gritting his teeth as he thought about anyone else hurting Mary. 

“That I do and, worry not, it’s reciprocal, really.” a chuckle escaped the brunette once more as she waved her hand dismissively in the air “Why would I be getting in trouble? We never touched on the subject of exclusivity – so I don’t see why I’d get reprimanded for it.”  Tati wasn’t going to back down, nope. If Xavier did it, then she would do it too – she wouldn’t cower like the rest of the slaves, albeit a mere human. “That’s fucked up.. She didn’t strike me as one who would piss anyone off, rather the quiet one out.” Tatiana, herself, couldn’t judge people on their violent lash outs, not while she had quite a bit of an issue managing her own anger – but at least, she didn’t fuck up people who’d done nothing to her and just minded their days. 

“I’m happy to hear that.” Hvitserk said, a huge grin on his face at the fact that she liked to spend time with him as well. “Very well. I am happy to hear that as well. I really enjoy having sex with you.” It came out playfully but there was a lot of truth to it. “As I said I don’t know exactly what happened but I believe she stood up for somebody else and got punished for it....severely. If I ever get my hands on whoever did that, I will make him pay.” He told her, a determined look on her face. “But it won’t happen again, I will keep her safe.” 

“Yes. The infamous move – I’ve still yet to show you just how efficient it can be, think you up for a demo anytime soon?” it was nice to joke around with the vampire like this. A certain sense of comfort and familiarity – she didn’t have to hide who she was and he didn’t judge her for it. “I don’t particularly care if he does. I don’t think exclusivity is in the books for us at this moment.” Xavier hadn’t exactly told her she wasn’t allowed to play around with whom she so wished to – and he was doing it himself so if he had a problem with Tati retaliating then he would get an earful from the sharp-tongued slave. “Oh?” Tatiana was surprised – if anything, she had a better chance of running into a maniac than Mary and, yet, it seemed that the troublesome human had been staying completely clear of them, not that she was even trying. “How so?”

“I’m always up for a demo. You know I love to get physical with you.” Hvitserk told her with a wink. He enjoyed the time he spent with Tatiana, whether it was physical or just talking and joking around didn’t matter to him. “That is good to know. Though don’t get yourself into trouble because of me.” He told her, not wanting her to get punished because of him, though he had a feeling the human didn’t care too much. “I don’t know exactly what happened but I found her in her cell, all bloody and beat up. She looked so broken. I don’t know what he did to her but it was bad.” 

“I do, very vividly, remember you mocking my notorious drop-kick” Tatiana pointed out playfully “Though I would have more than loved to wrestle up with you, Hvitserk, you know that.” Tati nodded her head as she listened to him “Well, I’m glad that you could get her out of there – at least, she wasn’t a complete nuisance like some of her fragile fellows.” Tatiana had seen Mary around, never really interacted with the blonde, but she hadn’t been put off by her, to be honest. Which was a lot. “I’m sure that under your protection, she will be able to stay cleer of the more troublesome bunch. You know, the raging psychos.”

“Right. The dropkick.” Hvitserk said with a chuckle. “You know I like to tease you.” He told her, nudging her playfully with his shoulder. “We can still wrestle up, I’m up for it.....unless your master has given you certain restrictions about who you spent your time with?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, curious about the answer. “I would hope so. She’s probably the most innocent person I have ever met. I didn’t think people like her even existed anymore.” He told her truthfully. “And yeah. Unfortunately she had a run in with one of those psychos before I claimed her. Wasn’t pretty.” 

“As if that’s ever going to happen.” Tatiana chuckled, a glint of amusement dancing around in her eyes. “Xavier is.. he’s more on the eccentric side, but he isn’t treating me unfairly, you don’t need to worry.” Her and the incubus had a very special dynamic, one that most people wouldn’t understand. But they understood it and, at the end of the day, it was all that truly mattered. “Though, I appreciate your concern – you do know that I’m perfectly capable of setting a fire under his ass myself, right?” her tone remained ever playful, but there was truth hidden somewhere in her words. Tatiana would not shy away from wreaking havoc should she be wronged. “She’ll come around soon enough, she’s lucky to have you so I’m sure Mary will be just fine. Hvitserk chuckled and nodded his head. “I trust your judgement, love. But I’m always gonna worry.” He said to her, shrugging his shoulders once again. He didn’t know why but he felt kinda awkward about talking about her master. “I know that you are. I know you could kick my ass that’s why I try to keep myself on your good side.” He teased her but there was truth behind his statement. He knew she could take care of herself if she had to. “I know, which is why I claimed her in the first place. She wouldn’t have survived very long down there.” He agreed.

The vampire had been Tatiana’s very first interaction – he had been the first person who had introduced her to her new life and it had been as sweet as you could expect in a place like Thornhaven. Viking or not, Hvitserk had never been anything but kind to the human girl so go figure, she was quite biased when it came to him. “That’s not going to happen.’ Tatiana shook her head, hoping to shake Hvit’s worries in the process, as well. “You are going to see me anytime you’d like. I’m not going to forget you, you know that, right?” smiling at him, Tatiana pulled away from the hug “It’s nicer than being inside of them, that much I can admit. – How’s your claim coming along?”

Hvitserk probably wouldn’t admit it out loud but Tatiana had a special place in his heart. He would be crushed if she decided not to see him anymore just because she was claimed. He smiled down at her and nodded his head when she reassured him. “I would hope so. I’d be a sad viking if I lost you.” He admitted, shrugging his shoulders once more. “I know. The same goes for you. Come see me anytime you’d like. And if that master of yours treats you poorly I will set him straight.” He last part was meant as a joke though the rest was true. He did hope that her master was treating her well. “I can imagine. It’s going great. Mary is sweet and I am glad I was able to get her out of the cells. It would’ve broken her. She’s not as strong as you, though I have started to teach her some self defense so maybe one day she will be.” He chuckled.

“Hvitserk!” A happy squeal erupted from the back of Tatiana’s throat — claimed or unclaimed, the blonde master would forever be one of the people that the human held a solid fondness for. The girl didn’t even think twice before pulling the handsome vampire into a hug, pressing a small kiss to his cheek. “In all technicality, I was here to see my friends - didn’t think I’d see you around L’Enfer anymore. But I’ll always make time for you, you know that.”

The vampire couldn’t help but grin at Tatiana’s excitement to see him. He himself was happy to see her. He wrapped his strong arms around her, even lifting her up a little, when she went to hug him. He placed a kiss on her cheek in return before setting her back down on the ground. “I am happy to hear that. I would’ve missed you if I never got to see you again.” He admitted with a shrug. He was happy that she was out of the cells, though there was a twinge of sadness that he probably wasn’t gonna see her as much anymore. “What’s it like to be out of the cells?”
